RIP Ed Jaster - we will miss you 6 6

Ed Jaster, Senior VP Heritage Auctions, and long time comic dealer and friend to so many in the comic community passed away this afternoon, Sunday Feb 25th, surrounded by family and his close friend Lon Allen. Ed fought against pancreatic cancer for the last year and loved comics to the very end. 

Just yesterday several of us from the Heritage consignment director team spent the morning with him at his house while he told us stories of collections he had brought to auction and showed us some of his private artwork collection. We will greatly miss you friend.

I spoke to Ed several times and he gave me good advice on golden age books I was contemplating at one time. I purchased one of my first Mile High books from him. I offer my sincere condolences to his family and friends.

A few weeks ago, I heard he was battling Pancreatic cancer.  For some reason, finding out he has passed is still a bit of a shock to me.  My condolences to his family and friends.

I am absolutely gutted.  I've been working with Ed for over 20 years, such a great guy and a class act.

The posted pictures were from trips after his diagnosis, so he squeezed every last drop he could out of life.  Ed was a 1/1

I am so sorry to hear this. I dealt with Ed as a dealer and he was beyond reproach. Then he moved to Heritage and it was like an old friend moving up. Very shocking, just processing this.

Extemely sad to hear and a great loss to our HOBBY as I could feel the sincere love he had for the vintage comic books when I first met him in '95. 

May he RIP as he settles back in his chair to catch up on his reading in that big comic book shop in the sky.

So sorry to hear, cancer sucks. Sadly I just seen my mom recently lose her battle too, definitely all heroes to be fighting to the end.

I remember Ed very well when he was dealing full time at conventions - an easy-going and laid-back presence. Bought a fair amount from him over the years prior to his move to Heritage -  he was always a pleasure to deal with.

Very sad loss for the hobby - my condolences.

I bought one book from him years ago (for well above FMV—so I guess he was an effective salesman). He and Chris Foss were the only GA dealers that set up at the Motor City ComicCon the last time I attended. He seemed relatively young, so I'm sorry to hear about his demise.
