I was outbid on every one of the pieces I bid on ... except the Saviuk black costume Spidey splash. was happy to land that one.

That is a really stellar Spider-man splash.  Great pickup.

i never ever owned this asm 50 Heritage page..

i never bid on it either.

I was quite shocked at the price considering not a single Spidey panel in it!

i have killer much better large art kingpin pages to ASM 51-52 where he is really prominent and pages with Spiderman and Kingpin actually on the pages together!!!

Great purchase on the Ditko page by the way. Probably one of the better pages I've seen from Ditko in a long time.

Did the Johnny Craig Haunt of Fear cover do so well (compared to the other EC covers) because it was a "#1"?  I thought the Feldstein and Ingles covers had much better images.

Don't know, but the Feldstein seems like a bargain given that it has the original art for the ghoulunatic head shots.  Those images were used on many EC covers later on.

There could be some Sandman fatigue with all the stunning material that has become available to the public in recent years. Sandman #10, Page 12 (Corinthian First Appearance), selling for $24,000, and Sandman #17, Page 17 (Calliope storyline feature in Netflix), selling for $26,400, are solid acquisitions at that price point. I had them between $30K-$40K. Congrats to the buyer.

I think a lot of people didn't read the description for Sandman #10 page as the last 2 panels and only panels of Dream were stats and not art, which affected the overall price of the page. Still a great important page but I'm honestly surprised it cracked $20k+ due to the stats. Again, talking to a few people after the auction they weren't aware of the stats of Dream and were glad they didn't bid on it to that level.

I thought the Sandman #17 was about right I had it at $25-30k, maybe slightly more and I was one of the underbidders, but I already used my cut and next bid then would've taken it right under the $30k mark to nearly $28.8k. Still a great page overall.

But overall I think you're right about Sandman fatigue as in the last year+ any Dringenberg / Kieth art specifically with even 1 panel of Dream in it has brought $20k+ min and that looks like it's starting to change. Or at least feels that way, which would be nice so some of us may actually win a nice page!

Thought the ASM #10 Ditko page was reasonable. Especially given some of the meteoric prices we saw yesterday.

Yeah not cheap but not high either. I saw this page about where it landed, but I could see it hitting $140-160k (another bid or two).

Watching the live bidding is not comforting.

Everyone is flush these days. IMO, there's no reason to believe that prices will be anything but steroidal in this market unless/until something changes for the worse in the bigger picture.

A number of high profile GA comics did pretty disappointingly on Day 1, so apparently the last comic bastion has fallen.  From Day 2's results, it would appear that much of that money went into OA.

So the last comic-related sector to hold (and exceed) its Covid peaks is OA.

Peanuts was all over the map from weak to strong

It's weird to say that $90k was a disappointing price, but I really expected the Snoopy and Schroeder Sunday to break $100k.  It's about as iconic a strip as there is.

Agreed.  I think the Sandman spigot needs to be turned off for a while to give the market a chance to digest the sheer volume of pages that has hit the market recently.

I can't remember the exact hammer last time it was auctioned but I thought it was around $60k and it wasn't that long ago.

I think the Craig is great and predicted it would do well.    Great image for an introductory issue IMO.    Yes IMO there was a big #1 bump.

You know, I’m going to take the devil’s advocate on that one.   Certainly multiples of what I’d pay but at least it’s quality artwork.    I have no issue with erotic themes in artwork personally and Manara is, whether one likes the subject matter or not, an excellent artist.

60k for a quality piece from a talented artist, I can understand  that easier than I understand $200 for a garbage new  commission that’s a tracing of a porn photo, and from a hack of an artist.

I stand corrected, Virginia is on the list as well. I thought I was making a point more about Manara than politics.
