@Ninja0215 in above post I was referring to the start date of the inner wells causing books to concave

I thought so, which is when my vintage books came back...lucky me 😪

Thanks for letting me know.

I can't think of any reason why there would be a difference in the process of slabbing a pre and post 1975 book. I'm fairly sure, 99.9% sure, that it's not the process. So that leaves the materials. I don't know why they would be using different wells but the likelihood of that is far greater than the process of slabbing differing.

What if the possibility exists that moderns are sent to a completely different facility than vintage books?  hm

I was also told that it's normal for the book to bow like that...

Thank goodness all of you are incredibly stupid.......or at least CGC seems to think so.

I know it isn't; not all of my books are like that.  If it wasn't for this thread I never would have looked.

My 8 book ME reholder submission was just delivered. I'm about to open the box now so updates soon.

Get your popcorn ready...

Still warped....some of these are marginally better, but definitely not straight like they used to be. Based on my results I would say sending these back for a reholder is a waste of time until they put a fix in place.

Marginally better was my result as well.  Did they add the spine support piece or spacer (whatever it does) to yours as well?

Perhaps on these reholderings  CGG should use the same process and or inner wells and or level of QC, they apparently supply to their larger submitting entities like Joey.

If huge volume modern submissions from Joey Et Al. have not been affected then clearly no one else's need to be.

I wonder if Joey would consider adding a service for being a middleman for reholders? If those he personally sends back are returned perfectly flat it could very well be a business opportunity at least in short term on higher dollar concaved books.

@joeypost do you think it's an actual opportunity? Or simply a poor idea?

Of the 7 book submission I sent in 3 of mine got sent back for shaken comic syndrome and 1 with noticeable spine stress that looks similar to what yall are posting in the pictures. I think 2 of the other books I didn't send back might also have the warping issue. I'll have to re check those.

This is the book sent in with the multiple spine stress that I believe had warping. It was rejected for ME and hopefully still being investigated.

Here are pics of 2 of my books I didn’t send back due to slighter damage. I didn't want to risk them getting damaged again. The damage on these is harder to see when looking at them head on. I do have a video that shows this if anyone is interested let me know.

Ya its got me not wanting to send anything else in. At least those 2 you don't notice it that much unless your really lookin with a flashlight. I'll have to recheck the ones from that order again after reading this thread.

Good that those are minor, but any amount of damage cause by this issue is not acceptable.  Good luck.  It seems new deliveries received by others even earlier today are still being warped.  Some people apparently are lucky though and are not impacted.

I'll recheck and post. From what I saw the at least 2 books didn't have any issues that I could see. They could still be warped but I didn't look.
