2024 Grading Contest Summer Edition Season 3 (#11) Round 3 14 14

I got all bullseyes except five…Terrible round for me…9pts total…My Great Love and Weird Comics killed me….Sinking like the Bismark!  Oh well..one last round to do well.

Three bulls and three points. That TOS is a shocker and was responsible for 66.667% of my points. Judging by Mike's comments that won't be enough to move me up much from equal 12th.

Got the 1st 4 right but overgraded the last one by 2 full points.

That's because l undergraded the last 2 sets terribly.

We are at a Styx/ Foreigner concert...on a break now.

I'm very excited...after all these years zI finally found out where @domo arigato cane from.

7 points this round. Overgraded Spidey & Great Love by a full point. They both looked much nicer than what CGC gave them. Hard to believe cgc was actually stricter than me for a change. Kinda mad at myself for going 1.5 on that Weird when everybody knows a detached cover is an automatic 1.0

Not according to the CGC grading guide.

my guide (ETA) split and detached is a 1.5 max...with no other major...those missing pcs forced me to a 1.0

Can do!    Remember, we're speaking of Book #11 (Weird Comics #17), so the condition is not just cover detached but cover detached and 100% split:

"A fully split spine in addition to a detachment cannot grade higher than a 1.8." 

I used the so-called "subtractive method" to arrive at a 1.0. The other flaws were crappy enough to warrant the subtraction, but it wasn't quite a total rag like a 0.5

First book= Bullseye 

Second book= missed by one 

Third book= missed by one 

Fourth book= Bullseye  

Last book= missed by three

I surmised the same with without a book, knew it wasn't 1.8, put 1.5 because I knew it wasn't quite 0.5, but I forgot 1.0.was a grade point thing lol. I should have remembered and I knew that but forgot and didn't search it out before submitting

I just avoid selling and buying comics with detachments, so I'm not as familiar with the technical impact on the final grade.

I knew I over graded those rusty staples on the one but that similar scenario burned me in a past contest when I graded rusty staples too low!!! Grrrr

 Green Lantern #38 = 9.4 (9.4) Bullseye

My eye sight is improving!!
