Sorry, a couple of stupid questions from an out-of-towner... Is there parking at the hotel available? I couldn't figure that out on their web page. Also, is there a special con rate? I was just looking for a ballpark figure before I called, so I can compare it to other hotel prices. Getting a room for a family of four for three nights can be pricey, so I'm checking many options...

Thanks,

- Bill

I'll have to check on cost, but the hotel (the Holiday Inn on King) does have parking available in their underground lot.

If you call and book on the phone number provided and quote the booking number PC007 you can get the convention block special rate of $169 Canadian plus tax. The normal booking rate is over $200 Canadian plus tax.

OK, thanks for the answers. I couldn't see a lot in any of the pictures on the hotel's web site, but it's nice to hear about the underground lot. The pictures make it look very nice, and it is a great location, as far as I can tell, so it sounds like a great option. Especially at the con rate.

Thanks!

No problem, glad to help. I'll be staying there myself for the duration of the event, and from what I've seen it looks like a great hotel. Plus it's in a great location - plenty of restaurants and clubs nearby. There's even a Tim Horton's coffee shop a block east on King Street that I'm sure will be a popular spot each morning!

There will be dealers with original art for sale, if that's what you are asking, as well as one or two original art dealers.

SuperWorld, Tomorrow's Treasures, Yoram Matzkin, Honestly Evil -- these are confirmed dealers that have original art for sale along with other items such as vintage comics and trade paperbacks, etc.

Comic Art Links will have Manapul, Alphona and Andrasofsky original art for sale along with some other pieces, sketchbooks and prints.

A lot of the creators will be bringing work with them to sell, as well as prepared sketches and prints, sketchbooks and the like.

I've been talking with another local art dealer who will definitely be at the show but is trying to see if he can get the help to set up a booth. I hope he does as he's got some great stuff.

There will definitely be other collectors/dealers around over the weekend and I'm sure they'll have pieces with them for sale or for trade...

And we will be holding our annual comic art silent auction on Sunday afternoon to benefit the Hero Initiative and the North York Harvest Food Bank.

Art collectors take note that Sunday is the concluding day of the Annual PARADISE SILENT COMIC ART AUCTION with funds raised to benefit the Hero Initative and the North York Harvest Food Bank. MIKE PERKINS

Paradise Conventions and the Hero Initiative are happy to welcome to the Paradise Toronto Comicon the first ever Canadian convention appearance of illustrator Mike Perkins.

At Crossgen he worked on titles such as Ruse, the CrossGen Chronicles, Way of the Rat, Archard's Agents and co-created Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

Since 2004, Mike Perkins has been working for Marvel Comics contributing pencils, inks and a combination of both to a variety of projects including Captain America, Spider-Man, Elektra, the Fantastic Four, and the co-creation of the series Spellbiner with writer Mike Carey. Mike recently pencilled the four-issue Union Jack mini-series and is currently penciling and inking alternating story arcs of Captain America and the upcoming Annihilation: Conquest Prologue.

THE HERO INITIATIVE

In late 2000, a consortium of comic publishers came up with the idea to create a financial safety net for comic creators, much in the same fashion that exists in almost any other trade from plumbing to pottery. By March of 2001, the federal government approved The Hero Initiative as a publicly supported not-for-profit corporation under section 501 © (3).

Since its inception, The Hero Initiative (Formerly known as A.C.T.O.R., A Commitment To Our Roots) has had the good fortune to grant over $200,000 to the comic book veterans who have paved the way for those in the industry today.

The Hero Initiative is the first-ever federally chartered not-for-profit corporation dedicated strictly to helping comic book creators in need. Hero creates a financial safety net for yesterdays' creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and an avenue back into paying work. It's a chance for all of us to give back something to the people who have given us so much enjoyment.

A Message from Jimmy Palmiotti:

Dear Paradise Comicon fans.

Amanda Conner and I regret we will not be able to make the con this year as planned. this con is one of our favorite shows, so this really sucks on many levels for us. That said , we look forward to being guests at their next show and we know with the amazing amount of fantastic guests they are featuring presently, we will be missing out on something special. sorry to disappoint but we will be back soon. Promise. "

TMoore_HERO_sm.jpg

Terry Moore and Matt Wagner have joined forces to produce this amazing illustration that will adorn the cover of the 2007 Paradise Toronto Comicon program booklet and will be available at the Comicon as a limited edition print at the Hero Initiative booth.

This special cover and print commemorate two special events that will be celebrated at this year's convention: The conclusion of Terry Moore's long-running comic Strangers in Paradise and the 25th Anniversay of Matt Wagner's Grendel.
