skybolt
Love that Terrors of the Jungle book. Does the whole run have Cole covers? I may have to work on a set. I think so. Same thing with "Terrifying Tales". A lot of great covers within these two titles.

NetMan-migration
Just picked this one up. One of the very earliest appearances of the original Golden Age Ghost Rider in Magazine Enterprise's Tim Holt #17 from May of 1950. Tim Holt was a western movie actor and had his own line of comics like most movie cowboys of that era. Richard Ayers did the artwork for the stories in Tim Holt as well as the Ghost Rider series launched by EM in late 1950 and was hired by Marvel to do the artwork for the short lived 67 revival after they "aquired" the character. The character underwent drastic changes in the 70s with the introduction of the Johnny Blaze version but the real hardcore fans still remember the original. I think it is a very nice gesture for the director of the new Ghost Rider movie to feature the original western version in the new movie, with a couple of very obvious changes (a common trend of comic - movie adaptations). This particular issue marks the very first time that Ghost Rider was ever featured on an entire cover (a note that is strangely absent from the CGC label). He made his first appearance in Tim Holt #11 and for the first 6 issues he was only shown as a small inset on the cover or just mentioned in text. AC comics aquired the rights to reprint the golden age adventures of the original Ghost Rider as long as they appear under a different title (because Marvel still retains the rights to the name) so reprints of the GA adventures can still be found. His character hasn't been as mainstream as others but is one that I have a real fondness for, so when I found this issue I just had to get it. Here's a pic and scans of the CGC label and of the book. I don't know how high the print run was on these very early GA issues but I would venture to guess that ME didn't run a whole heck of a lot of them. A very hard to find book and by the looks of the CGC census they haven't seen that many copies either. I think it is a very nice book even though it is only a 4.0. Features a great cover by Frank Frazetta!
adamstrange
What a nice looking 4.0 -- and that's a terrific Frazetta cover. Thanks for the background info -- I didn't know that the first "substantial" cover appearance.
october
Neat book. How is that a 4.0? Is there a chunk out of the back cover or something?
Netmaster-migration
Back Cover - not too hot looking: Still an awesome find though. At least I think so.
october
I don't know man, that still looks a better than a VG to me. REALLY nice pickup there! I love books where the eye appeal is far nicer than the technical grade.
