Popular Post srezvan
What do you do when you run out of wall space, poster filppers on the walls are full, and portfolios are full? Get a custom cut scratch resistant piece of plastic to cover your desk. I secured three corners so I can easily swap out pieces without the plastic moving when I use the table. Right now it's just a random mix of things I had sitting around. Maybe in the future I'll have some rotating themes, but I'm not completely sold on the idea. I've tried hard to keep the desk clear of projects and junk, and now on quick glance it looks like there's stuff sitting on my desk. archiecomicscollector, HighVoltage, ADAMANTIUM and 4 others
Popular Post fmaz
With the addition in the last few weeks of a new piece of art (the Gil Kane Green Goblin), two Megos, as well as the sideshow Spidey vs Venom statue … I did a rearrange not only on the walls but on my shelves. So here’s my room, revised : Behind the statues (including the Cap & Red Skull Bowen set… among my favorite of anything they ever produced) is a Saviuk/Sinnott Spidey Sunday strip…signed by both artists and Stan Lee. It’s the only thing in my collection signed by Stan! All the Megos are vintage (there are a few repro items : stickers (Robin, Cap), Batman’s gloves, and all the boxes). A set of four modern splashes behind the Spidey vs Venom. McGuinness Spidey/Deadpool, Bagley Spidey & Ultimate Avengers, Allred Daredevil, and Olliffe Untold Spidey. Behind Wolverine vs Hulk are the sketches : Gil Kane’s Green Goblin, Romita Sr.’s Spidey/Peter, a Mike Kunkel Herobear, George Tuska’s compilation of some of the early Marvel characters he worked on. Ok so this small wall has the other modern splash (Tom Grummett X-Men) and sketch (Alan Kupperberg commission) that didn’t fit on the previous wall. LOL. So I consider this wall the “Modern art extension” 😂 The Bronze Age art wall Sal Buscema - MTU #52, Jim Craig - What If #1, and George Perez - Fantastic Four #164 Ross Andru - Amazing Spider-Man #131, John Romita Sr - Captain America #143, and Romita Sr again - Spider-Man daily newspaper strip. Two more Ross Andru pages (although the second one, the story goes, supposedly may have had the work of many hands..) MTU #2, and Superman vs. Spider-Man Treasury Edition. Last up, Carmine Infantino - Nova, Curt Swan - Superman and Fred Kida (with assist from Romita Sr) - Spider-Man Sunday strip. Popular Post rexinnih
On my side, it's a combo home theater, comic/collectibles and now work from home desk all munged together. I'll be doing some rearranging during the upcoming holiday season when I'm off work for a few days so can post "after" pics then. The CGC and print side of the room. Some more comic/collectible related with photos from various cons. And a close up of the case. Have some placeholders for CGC submissions. What type of protection do you have for your comics to prevent light damage over time? LED. Incandescent fades dyes. Fluorescent fades even faster. Sunlight probably the worst. All my art is framed in museum glass, the shade is very thick, and I do my best to keep the light low and/or off as much as possible. No overhead light in the room so that’s always been my best option. ExNihilo

I have no idea how the pros do it. HighVoltage and MetalPSI 1

I was very fortunate that when I bought my first piece many years ago, the framer took the time to educate me on the value of museum glass… and, yes, especially considering the investment in these pieces, its really a minimal cost upgrade for the amount of added protection it provides (and how much better it displays!). Of course, anyone lookin at my room display probably noticed I’m a WEE bit anal when it comes to my framing… as all of my pieces are framed exactly alike. To the point now where I’ve got a prenegotiated discounted rate at my current place, and I just need to drop something off and they know exactly how to handle it. I used to have one piece (the second one I ever bought) that was slightly different… but finally last year I took it down and had it redone because it was constantly making my brain itch. But back to the topic at hand…. Yes please… invest in museum glass to preserve the stuff you love! HighVoltage and ashsaytr
