Curious...why do so many of you display expensive or beloved comic books in the light? I've never understood this. I suppose it's OK with expensive and UV protected holders, but it's so easy to print out a nice color copy of a favorite comic. With a printed copy, who cares what happens to it, and you can still enjoy the cover. Shouldn't comics be stored in a dark, cool, relatively dry, and pest free room?

Just wondering... I am a collector who really enjoys Amazing Spider-Man issues in high grade, and I have never displayed a copy in the light. I put them in a Mylar with a full back or send them for CGCing.

All the best and Merry Christmas!

V/R,

Mike

My books were only pictured because they were home awaiting a trip to a different bank/safety deposit box. Most of the time I display modern or cooper books. :shy:

I wouldn't recommend displaying any high-dollar book for any prolonged period of time.

For me, I go by the motto of collect what you like, and because I like it, I want to see it. While there's certainly some potential of long term value in the items, that's not why I buy them. I buy them because I like them and therefore want to see them. Same philosophy with my other collections, if I'm not looking through my card collection regularly, I get rid of it as it's stopped meaning something to me. I would agree with the other statement above, if I'm just going to display a copy, I might as well just get prints of high end books I don't own that look cool. Just my 2 cents.

My thoughts too. I don't have any direct light on the books in my comic room but I have a room to see what I like. I have more than I can display so I change out much of what's on the walls every so often but a few I always want to see so they're pretty much on permanent display.

$3.00 document frames from Target (black plastic frame body with glass front), a few cents each for ink and paper = a $20 display that everybody who comes over gets up close to check out ;)

I may not own 'em (the 'tecs, Startling 49 and Spirit 22, anyway), but I'm just telling myself these are placeholders until I do buy my own copies.

100% agree! Many facets of collecting make this hobby great. If you appreciate a great cover for the art, why not blow it up and display it? I have large 13x19 prints of some of my favorite covers waiting patiently to be displayed one I finish our basement.

Yours look great! :applause:

I do not want a collection that will sit inside a safe or a box. If something is cool, I want to look at it and enjoy it. I am in the hobby for me not as an investment. I make sure that there is no sunlight in the room at all. That being said, that means most of you might not like my comic room. :) I am only showing three walls because the 4th wall has too much identifiable stuff like diplomas and other nonsense.

I agree. Those look great. I bought the DC Poster book that has a lot of great covers that I hang on the walls. I'll also buy frames and use them for gifts for my buddies and my nephew.
