BB-Gun
I probably buy too many coverless comics but I have fun trying to figure out which issue they are and finding a color copy of the cover. Recently, I purchased five Superman comics on ebay and found not one Superman in the batch. It wasn't that hard to figure out that four of the issues were Action 32, 41, 66 and 68, but the other issue had a Batman story in it. Well I thought I could narrow that down easy enough even though the first page of the Superman story was missing. It also had a Johnny Thunder story where he was riding a motorcycle. The suicide shift was on the left side which confirms that he was riding a Harley. Fun to have and it goes in the box with my other coverless Superman issues. World's Finest Comics #2 [Johnny in the Army] (Sequence 5 - Story , 8 pages ) Feature Story: Johnny Thunder The Man Who Couldn't Remember! (Sequence 12 - Story , 13 pages ) Feature Story: Batman GCD is good for superhero story titles -- when the server is up. For anything but superheroes, spotty. BB-Gun
Jack, Thanks for checking on that comic. WF 2 has a nice mix of stories which reminds me of World's Fair 1940. I made this Christmas card 10 years ago from a cover of Nature. I never managed to publish a paper there but it made a good Xmas card I think. selegue
Jack, Thanks for checking on that comic. WF 2 has a nice mix of stories which reminds me of World's Fair 1940. Not too surprising! I have a similar WF 3 missing covers and about 2.5 pages. I made this Christmas card 10 years ago from a cover of Nature. I never managed to publish a paper there but it made a good Xmas card I think. Very nice. I never made the cover of Nature either, but my sister made the cover of Science! I wish I had a bigger picture (it's a close-up of a butterfly wing). Jack

Flee-Marquette
The paperbacks in the Dell 10¢ series are fun to collect. Nice copies! My William Irish is pretty rough. I have a few handy here.
Scrooge
The titles in the Dell 10¢ series are a fun group to collect. So, is that Night Bus ppb a reprint of the short story or is it a longer version prepared for paperback? I've never read it but It Happened One Night is one of my top 3 fav movies. Scrooge
I had to laugh at this one. I guess the Trojan WAR wasn't enticing enough, Helen's private life had to be spiced up
Scrooge
Random posting alert !! After the shock of the attack, it didn't take long for cartoonists to reflect the resolve of the country as per these December 9, 1941 Chicago Tribune cartoons. The US mood was clear in its intent -
Scrooge
The ones above are quite a contrast to this New York World Telegram illo from September 4, 1939 (second below), right after the assault on Poland. It does not seem that the menace is taken as seriously as it should unlike what the russian poster represents here -
BB-Gun
I went looking for that box of paperbacks but didn't find it yet. But I found a couple of dozen mixed in with the Big Little Books. Here are a few random issues. I kind of liked the Avons but there are some nice Dell covers too. I think someone mentioned this small Mickey Mouse book a while back. bb Bogie, Tim Holt, John and Walter Huston in the same movie. We don't need no badges. Didn't someone sell this Fawcett paperback on another thread? I didn't know I had this one.
