  1. I don't know what makes Buck Rogers issues so appealing. I think the art is unique or original and keeps that early scifi pulp tradition alive. I like all of them but I haven't got a complete copy of the first issue yet.
  2. I remembered the change but didn't remember the source. Thanks. Barks also used the Larkies for one of his paintings.
  3. I like the War comic that was included with the Comic Book Killer. It isn't really golden age but its signed by Schomburg and Lupoff.
  4. and I think this US Marines cover is very impressive but not sure who did the art. Oops, that was Craig Fessel doing the are for ME. He signed a lot of the interior art and that is a pretty good Sandman pose.
  5. I like this Flame Thrower cover by Baker.
  6. Those early Scrooge stories were great. I think "The Golden Fleecing" (upper left US 12) was a full 32 page story. I have to go back for another read. I guess they changed the name of the flying creatures from Harpies to Larkies due to the bad connotation of the original name.
  7. I noticed a news item on line that made me think of an Uncle Scrooge story. I wonder if Barks saw a National Geographic's story about Harpy Eagles.
  8. I used to have several books previously owned by Joyce. Suspense 3 was one of them. Anyone else have any?
  9. Those covers by Orlando and Wood just kept getting better.
  10. Most of my More Fun issues have Green Arrow on the cover but I liked those silly Superboy covers. His marble game was my favorite.
  11. I purchased remainders and IW comics from the local eastside Mom and Pop in Monroe for a nickel each or $5 for a hundred. Most are not worth much except for the Showcase 17. I like the early Mystery in Space issues but didn't keep very many from the fifties.
  12. I thought my Superman 6 might be from a pedigree collection due to the "PN" on the cover. What do you think?
  13. Landau could have been a pretty good Vulcan during his acting career. He worked on the Gumps strip but I haven't tracked down which pages he drew.
  14. I have a scan of Bob Horn's copy of number 1. He let me borrow it for a couple of days.
  15. I think Simon got credit for this Science cover. Pretty good job too.
  16. I like that goofy dragon on the cover. Isn't that a crossover issue with a cameo by Green Lantern?
  17. A boardie sold me a copy of Batman 14 signed by Robinson. I had another copy but I sold it to Dave Reynolds for a few pennies.
  18. There is a lot of variety in the styles of Shadow covers. Early covers were from pulps and the later covers were by Powell. Skulls and black cats were a common addition. The Shadow radio shows were rebroadcast by KMOX back in the sixties and the old time radio show in New York about 2001-2008. I don't know when the radio show stopped but I enjoyed listening while I traveled from Philly to NYC. Since then I have purchased many of the shows for my collection.
  19. One of my copies is just a cover, I think. I like CC 5 with Santa.
  20. I noticed in my Phil Seuling catalogue from 1963, there was a collection of comics signed by Otto Binder. Did anyone buy those or seen one? Notice his classy Williamson drawing on the front of the price list. I might have purchased one of the Batman comics from him. I only have a few from my original collection.
  21. I like to imagine they are going to a local comic book convention.
