  1. But the actual robot story is in Fantastic 4.
  2. I don't have a Ray gun but I do have an ad from a Daisy magazine.
  3. Columbia to Columbus Circle is a long walk (60th to 120th). We usually walked from Columbus Circle to the train station (Grand Central)and occasionally from the Natural History Museum (81st) down to 42nd street.
  4. Last time I walked across Manhattan, I was 65. I walked across the short way at 70 but I don't think I could walk all the way across the long way (42nd to 85th) now. I purchased a lot of fillers in the past 20 years. I started with a large collection of Uncle Scrooge that had belonged to my older brother but the first 10 issues were missing (I bought and sold two copies of those early Scrooge books). My younger brother liked the Christmas Parade stories (Gold Key). I purchased all of the Dell Christmas Parade issues to complete that collection. I struggled to find all of the four color Donald Duck issues but found it easier to find the Donald Duck filler issues.
  5. Even without art by Fine, the Flame has some pretty good splash panels. I think this is issue 5.
  6. I like all of those Blue Beetle comics but especially like those with art by Quinlan.
  7. I like this short run but probably just because of Simon and Kirby.
  8. By the way, I noticed that Joe Jinks was fight manager for Dynamite Dunn. Related strips I think.
  9. For an old time collector, it is always fun to see a big stack of All Star comics. I purchased issue 23 over fifty years ago but never managed to complete my collection. I think I have 5 or 10 more All Stars that aren't in the picture but some of them are a little rough.
  10. and the first comic book size MMM
  11. I think Jimmy Thompson doesn't get enough credit for his fine art on Robotman and Human Torch but how can we ignore the Wildcat and his nifty motorbike. from Sensation 28 by Paul Reinman
  12. I thought this Unknown splash was pretty ominous when I saw it. Another view of the Rapture or is it just interstellar travel?
  13. He doesn't get much press but the Black Pirate looked pretty spiffy when drawn by Shelly.
  14. The golden age reprints of duck stories were particularly good. Someone at Gold Key knew what they were doing. I still have all of my original copies purchased in 1965/1966.
  15. The size may be small but those little digests were crammed with good stories.
  16. Firestone giveaways were more clearly marked. I found a few of those but never a giveaway of a WDCS Christmas issue from 1943 like you guys have.
  17. I knocked one of these puzzles off the shelf and spent a few hours putting it back together. If my grandson was with me, it would have been faster. He seems to find the missing pieces faster than I do.
  18. and I have this one cut up and not cut
  19. and from Mystery Men 14 (which I have but I think the scan is from Comic Book Plus)
  20. The dynamo car was from Science
  21. During my first early retirement I tried to make several toys I found in the comics and I animated some of the Dell covers...so I'm with you on this. Back in my youth the Giant Size Dell Comics were filled with games and toys that could be made. I think those were usually summer issues intended to keep kids busy at home and off the streets and passing railroad boxcars. here is one from Fox
  22. I am not sure that this is golden age but it is early Ditko before he went to marvel From Fantastic Giants
