  1. I started collecting in Pa with 2000 silver age comics from the sixties and seventies. I added 1000 comics by purchasing Wally's collection. I purchased another 5000 at the flea markets plus 2000 off ebay. Its not a rare collection but Its a big pile. Oh, someone gave me 2000 comics too.
  2. I used to pick up a lot of Fiction House at Golden Eagle comics in Reading. Lem gave pretty good discounts.
  3. I still have a few comics from 1950-55. Most of them probably belonged to my older brother. My Scrooge collection has several early issues that he signed, starting with #5. I have another copy of BW 11, This scan was by someone else.
  4. I usually say my first book was Four Color 291 Magic Hourglass but I don't have my original copy (I cut up the cover). I still have my original Showcase 11 and a Best Western which are about the same age. My collecting habit stared with Showcase 36 and 37 which I still have. I remember buying Showcase 37 at the drug store but none of the earlier books.
  5. The above scan is from Comic Plus but I have my own copy of that page from Tip Top 14.
  6. I am very fond of this page from Tip top 14. Louis is one of my personal heroes.
  7. I purchased FC 263 back in the eighties. It was a little expensive at the time but it had two stories by Barks. I think I have three copies now but only one high grade.
  8. I like singles pages when I can't afford the whole book. I found an All Star 4 page in a stack of junk I think. I also have Action and Detective pages.
  9. I think two of these were purchased from the local drug store back in the sixties I purchased two more giants after moving to Houston in the seventies (and eighties), I think the giants convinced me to go back and find all of the early comics by Barks.
  10. I like all of those but my favorite early Scrooge story was THe Magic Hourglass. I got the book from my brother and cut out the shark teeth to animate the cover.
  11. and I found a copy of FC 108 soon after I purchased the Green Sea Serpent. Pretty sure I purchased 2 copies of FC 147 soon after buying Volcano Valley.
  12. I purchased Ghost Morgan's Treasure long before I found a FC 9.
  13. The early Barks issues are nice but there are some pretty good stories in the later Duck comics as well.
  14. Soup Sales featured Superman cartoons during the lunch break in Detroit.
  15. We had Poopdeck Paul, on CKLW TV (Detroit/Windsor), showing Popeye cartoons. He was a repacement for Toby David aka Captain Jolly.
  16. This endplate was put together with drawings by Raymond.
  17. I've got most of the first twenty issues in this pile.
