  1. Full run. 1-441, and on to the current issue. Of the books 1-400, all are slabbed save for 3. That's hard to fathom and just plain wrong. :: :hail: Which 3 aren't slabbed?
  2. Some overdue kudos are in order (and apologies to any whom I may have missed... and there could be some repeat kudos in here...senior moment?): --ft88 for a nice, affordable low grade key--X-Men #94 (although I should've scooped up the OAAW #81 that I was hesitating on and HouseofComics.com just picked it up ). --mazman77 for some nice Copper Age sets at very cheap prices. --tortoise just because I can't remember since I've bought, sold, and traded so much with this fellow ASM collector in recent weeks/months. --Point Five for a sweet ASM #50 for a sweet price. --rsortor, a new guy on the boards who gave me a great deal on an ASM #6. --BeachBum for a very nice ASM #600 and 601--variant style. -- Pontoon for some good deals on some good books. --MLMeade for very reasonable prices on a low grade ASM #40 and #60. --namisgr for a sweet DD #36 and that book that Green tends to go ga-ga over: TTA #59. --flatrock02 for a complimentary () final issue of the first series of Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe that completed a run for me. :hail:
  3. Some truly bizarre news on the HG ASM #151 front. When filter81's 9.6 (WP) sold for 306.00 recently, I sure wish I had the funds to land that one...Well, now, someone tonight on ebay, just got a 9.6 (OWW) for a mere 115.00----and there were a decent # of bidders--and the traditional auction end time of Sunday evening. I don't know what to think of this. GPA was nearly 400 bucks. It's gotta be an absolute fluke. Or maybe another brick in the Bronze wall of "If it ain't a key--even if it's ASM--it's not going to go for 5 to 10 times Guide." Man, I'm utterly stunned. Or maybe I should be thrilled as I'm trying to pick up a 9.6 copy.
  4. I hope to have 10 Spidey slabs--3 Silver and 7 Bronze--up by tonight (). Or tomorrow night at the latest. All are higher grade, either 9.0 or 9.2, and all have OW page quality or better--including a Bowling Green pedigree and a White Mountain pedigree. :headbang:
  5. I almost typed that, but then i was positive that i was confusing it with Middle Earth. I still can do the first 8 lines pretty well. :: :hail: I will sit back and watch all this go down. I taught English 101 and 102 classes my first year of teaching and felt so insecure (I was trained in mere journalism) that this is bringing back some exhilarating memories. ::
  6. If you don't mind me asking, out of curiosity, what shape is your #151 in? 9.6 :hail: PQ?
  7. If you don't mind me asking, out of curiosity, what shape is your #151 in?
  8. :whatthe: Hooks! Welcome back, my brother. I've missed you (I may have even shed a tear... no, that was something else). I always thought/hoped you might be finding your way back to this zaney place.
  9. I'll try and do it later today. (thumbs u [/img] Man, that's a nice white cover. And great signature placement too. :hail:
  10. :whatthe: He lives! Don't vanish for so long next time. We addicts of your sales threads do exhibit withdrawal symptoms. Any high grade Starfires? Or your favorite superhero of the male species...Aquaman?
  11. Mac Man! One of my initial memories of joining these boards was realizing you were diligently working on your ASM run...and that you weren't exactly going after the NM copies. :: I'm glad that you went on the record to declare your abiding love for our beloved wallcrawler (despite your recent affinity for the Golden Age). As for those Spideys of yours post #328, what issue is the unmasking one? I honestly don't know ().
  12. #1-50 in 8.0 or better?! 4 issues to go! :headbang: :headbang:
  13. I know for a fact that I have #200 in 9.4. :: When one gets into the Tec #27 realm, I guess ASM #50-200, even in high grade, becomes not exactly the challenge.
  14. Time to recapture #11-93. Then get #94-100. Then #1-10. Then do the dance.
  15. The tortoise man is slowly but surely doing it. Actually, as of late, I'd say it's been more like a speedy hare: you've been on a buying/selling/trading spree. Incidentally, I can report my jealously in advance when you land that mid-grade #1.
  16. One of the faithful thrice-monthly readers, eh? :hail: Maybe I should mimic what you did and sell off some of my set to get that dang elusive AF #15.
  17. #1-129 is indeed a pretty sweet run...but you sold your AF #15 to save up for something better?! The nerve.
  18. And I appreciate the #50 I recently got from you. What grade is your #1? Oh, and kudos to you for starting this very thread over 3 1/2 years ago. :hail:
  19. I have a complete Amazing Spider-Man run from 1 through the present of which 226 of them are slabbed. My eventual goal is to have all of them slabbed including all 6 Giant-Size and all of the annuals. I'll be paying off the Amazing Fantasy #15 sometime next week (my 1st copy) and should have it in-hand later this month. I also have complete runs of Spectacular Spider-Man, Web of Spider-Man, Spider-Man, Peter Parker Spectacular Spider-Man and just about any other series run he's been in. Yeah, I'm crazed. I forgot about the Shark Man and his lunacy. I still wish I hadn't sold you my #300 9.4 (WP). I have the hole filled, but it's a low to mid-grade raw copy. 226 ASM slabs. Not too shabby. I only have about 50.
  20. I've got #1 up to the latest newsstand issue all in VF or better. Amazing Fantasy 15 is the only one I'm missing. :hail: I saw that #92 you picked up the other day. Unbelievable copy.
  21. I miss Hooksie. He was all right. He was my favorite to pick on. I miss him too. I certainly miss Hooks too. :frown: He was the first joker to PM me here on the boards with some kind of harassment if I recall correctly. He liked calling me cloud of twit which gave him endless inner kicks. I'll never forget when he thought he bought a regular comic on ebay and it was some kind of laminated deal that was either evident from the pic and/or description...but he just spaced out and didn't catch it. :: Speaking of catching, bhhooks22 never quite caught the proper procedures involved in pressing. Come back soon, Hooks! And give us an update on your estate sales business.
