  1. I find this really interesting because the eyeballs are almost identical, yet the gaze is completely different. The more I study eyeball renditions, the more I learn that even the most trivial difference can make a huge impact. Gil kane used to put theses heavy black dots as eyeballs, and I could almost tell if it was gil or not from that small feature alone (not to mention the nostrils).
  2. Don’t forget Trs80, affectionately known as trash 80
  3. Just watched it . and here's a case where I expected a big snooze fest based on the gnashing of teeth here and elsewhere. I was pleasantly surprised and entertained, much more than Black Widow or The Batman. I was wondering how he would get out of that self imposed trap and liked how Fate intervened to make that happen. Also, they showed a little bit more dimension that just a hate filled villain, IMO. While I enjoyed Dr. Fate, though, I liked the smallville version a lot better. Instead of having that kind of arrogant Brosnan interpretation, I liked the smallville version, where he was battling mental instability with his alter ego. Dr. Fate's final speech and contribution was quite good though.
  4. speaking of sales, IDW had the best sale I think I have ever seen (or will see) on AEs and books. AEs were down to 10 20, 25 https://www.idwpublishing.com/last-chance-ae-sale in case it goes down, some examples
  5. Heads up kindle/ marvel masterworks sale .99/1.99 per title. Outstanding deal. https://www.amazon.com/kindle-dbs/comics-store/sales?tag=slickdeals09-20&ascsubtag=2c6ddb627d8e11edbf7e264570c22ffb0INT&slot=desktop-atf-7
  6. Here's your chance to pick up most of the entire library for a song. I did it and never regretted. https://www.amazon.com/kindle-dbs/comics-store/sales?tag=slickdeals09-20&ascsubtag=2c6ddb627d8e11edbf7e264570c22ffb0INT&slot=desktop-atf-7
  7. Reading the thread, this was my thought as well. I would expect someone with 12k books, to know enough to put the premium ones in a separate area than the less desirable ones. I wonder if anyone runs across a truly random placement of multiple boxes (to be fair I have seen this with an older collector but he still had multiples stacked together and there was enough to get a sense).
  8. I must be time travelling, because I could swear I read this thread weeks, if not months ago. Esp. the reply from whisp.
  9. Now this is looking good! And I wouldn't say that about the last few Marvel films or trailers. This is giving me feelings of Infinity Gauntlet/GOTG phase.
  10. Something that blew me away, was that he literally hand constructs 3d models to sketch from. Sometimes several times to get the size right for him. I was aware he used human models but not custom figures. That was always a dream of mine, but no idea how to do it properly.
  11. The reduced price copies (kelly jones) I picked up are here. https://www.ebay.com/str/torpedocomics still some available. Downside is shipping is 15 per book, but even then the net was lower than main website. Best reviewer for Artist Editions in general with ample samples is here https://aeindex.org/reviews/batman-kelley-jones-gallery-edition/
  12. I used to think, one day all those hundreds of movies I've watched so many times and memorized will be like new again. Sadly I'm getting there.
  13. Picked up a few odds and ends over the past few weeks. One thing I wanted to highlight, seeing as there are a few other AE fans, here-- The company producing the graffiti editions is having some issues and there was talk of going out of business on other threads. I was able to pick up Kelly Jones Deadman and Batman for only $60 each (and these are usually at a premium for out of print) on Ebay. I never get past the bronze age much, but I would swear Kelly Jones is like a Wrightson reincarnation. Very impressive inking, IMO (sorry about the horizontal, couldn't figure out how to rotate in this app).
  14. This has been discussed on the boards before. One big issue as I see it is lack of examples to learn from. That's where CGC database could shine.
  15. If it helps any, I paid over double for the messed up version and still have it. I'm not as upset about a few pages here or there that are messed up. I had an Avengers omni, with several pages literally stuck together. I just cut them with a scissors.
  16. Yes, very interesting. Note...According to the 1910 census, Benny Kurtzberg once lived at 136 Suffolk Street. http://alphabettenthletter.blogspot.com/2017/08/creator-jack-kirby-in-census-and-army.html Delancey and Suffolk 1906...
  17. As a complete side note, I thought his son's take on the Black Phone was a pretty novel concept, while still somewhat 'kingish.' Most people don't know he has a son that is an author (also wrote lock and key comic series).
  18. Just a heads up, if anyone needs silver surfer omni it is on instocktrades for $30 (70% off). Really good deal.
  19. Personally, I would think Dr. Strange following the heels of Spider-Man and the disturbance of the multiverse should have made Strange a billion dollar movie. Now that had momentum. On top of that, the trailer and the waiting were extremely inviting. That didn't happen. People simply didn't like it enough to make that so -- momentum or not.
