  1. Everyone please do post back any reviews on FF hickman. I too saw the glowing reviews, and before the reprint these were selling for $$$$ on ebay. Not a huge fan of moderns, but this set sounds very desirable. I remember seeing the colossal Conan runs in a local bookstore and passing (to my regret). I finally had the willpower to resist xmen and thor 1 reprinted omnis, since 1) I already have everything on Masterworks and digital 2) These items are taking over the house spacewise. At the point where artist editions have to sit stacked on the floor.
  2. Just my 2c. The movie did almost put me to sleep a few times; that being said, I'm not as eager to sit through a long film as I was a few decades ago. In fairness, I can say the same about the latest spider-man. Things I liked: I liked the cinematography, and soundtrack. Soundtrack made me think of spaghetti westerns in the 70s. It felt very dark and moody and epic. My nephew said there was a lot more information tied into the Gotham tv show, which I haven't watched much. I liked this spin on the Riddler. I like that he had some major motivation beyond falling into a vat of acid or something silly like that. On the other hand, he was kind of a Jigsaw clone. I preferred watching the Saw series, and almost wished Jigsaw had been the villain, instead. What I didn't like. Felt it was laboriously long and dragged on and on, with many irrelevant plot points and difficult to pick up on backstory. I didn't really buy into the Zoe Kravitz and Pattinson chemistry. Didn't care much for her take on catwoman. Found Pattinson's almost complete lack of dialogue to be more annoying than enigmatic. When he did speak, it didn't strike me as someone very intimidating at all. Didn't really find his taking on the mantle very appealing. I've seen the big flashy car and sound effects already in Dark Knight, which in my opinion was miles better. I was looking forward to the Joker cameo I had heard about. It was more like Mr Mind talking to Sivana in prison. Pretty boring. I hope they leave this film as more of an elseworlds interpretation, rather than a trilogy. And putting Jared Leto's Joker up against Pattinson's Batman, would seem more appropriate than Juaquin Pheonix. That would be a colossal mismatch in acting chops and character development, IMO.
  3. Some nice Charlton's, Jayman! Am I the only one that thinks of Brother Voodoo here?
  4. For anyone needing to pick up PS artbooks (GA horror) or other hardback collectibles, there's a really good deal going on as twomorrows clears out their warehouse overstock. https://twomorrows.com/blog/

  7. The iceman stands out to me of Severin. Has that cartoonish look (I liked Marie's work a lot btw).
  8. I always think of Logan on the left image.
  9. Brings back good memories. Especially, remembering the toy displays in the toy stores.
  10. I put in years and miles and gas and time, and my conclusion is luck and location are a HUGE factor. Especially, when you have local dealers going to the same locations and competing for every little morsel. The best deals I've had are from good dealers who are willing to negotiate with good customers (I've had a really good dealer call me whenever a good haul came in, and would negotiate fairly).
  11. That was no staged joke. Someone posted the audio and Will was cussing and livid. I wonder if he will get banned over this or sued. I feel for Chris Rock.
  12. EC Archives ... no brainer. https://www.russcochran.com/ec-archives/
  13. 1st episode opening gave me chills. I didn't care that much for the 1st season, but this is looking really good. Time is the final frontier, not space. Romulan Cadet. Loving it. Man this is looking excellent. My favorite episode of the entire SNG was the finale with Q, "all good things must come to an end." This looks to tie into it.
  14. They failed to take into account the Chinese market Fed stimulus. Who knows when the fire hoses will stop. Anybody making conjectures prior to 2010, didn't expect trillion dollar injections without rate hikes.
  15. That's professor Xavier with his Ultron Bots.
  16. I recall the name fedoraman being used in the past. My memory may be off though.
  17. Ok, from the bronze generation here. But, I'll point out that for me what started the desire was Richie Rich. Yep, Richie Rich. As a very young 'kid' there was something so appealing about those covers and stories. And when I opened an issue (I didn't get to hoard, it was a random one or two every few weeks), I was exposed to a ton of other ads for more Richie Rich! The colors, the uniqueness, the variety, all appealed to me and I had to have them all! Archie never did that for me, but I didn't mind reading them every now and then. Later, there was the more mature comic stuff (like heroes) that I would get a taste of and get that same desire to want them all. Going to 7-ll or Lucky's I'd drool over the covers and want to read them over and over. But, alas, I didn't have much to spend. I was the kid that would sit in a Walgreen's or Thrifty's for an hour and just read (they weren't that mean those days). One time when I was very young, my parents said I got lost in the mall -- I took an escalator up to the second floor, where there was a B Dalton bookseller, with Marvel "Origins of Marvel Comics" and "Son of Origins," They found me sitting there reading. I think that lack of being able to have things, made the desire to recollect those poverty based years, all the more desirable as I got older. I had close to zero desire around high school, it was the post college working years, where the desire came back. And I'm sure it was for the same reasons. In this generation, everyone has a buffet of choice at their fingertips. I just don't think this generation has the same desire and wonder that we did.
  18. Read in hot bath tub. Saves time and money on pressing after.
  19. You mean when I"m ready, I'll be able to dodge bullets? I"m telling you when you're ready, you won't need to. Mic Drop.
  20. Looks like I'm in the minority now (liking it). On the one hand I get the part about people hating the whole zion parts (most of part three). I too found it intensely boring and grating in the originals, on the other hand I feel if they threw it out, it would literally take away a huge part of the story itself. Not only that, but then people would be moaning the opposite direction, 'yeah, but they completely ignored what happened in zion and the real world. blah blah' I thought the new sequel did a good job of minimizing the zion part, while adding some closure, but added plenty of material and eye candy in the virtual world. I really appreciated the homages to the fans of the originals, like that room that morpheus and bunny met in right after visiting another critical juncture of the film. I get the open palmed force field disdain, but I figure he is getting old. The old wooden acting syndrome was even more noticeable in the latest Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. I would have far preferred to have this sequel, any warts and all, than none at all. And for all the people bemoaning being lost, I felt like I was able to reasonably follow most of it. But anyone who hasn't seen the trilogy, might as well give up at the outset. This was a gift to the fans of the trilogy. I hardly expect it to do well with first time viewers. I think people tend to have a hang up not seeing the true original characters on screen, but the reality (accepting the premise) is everyone in the matrix virtual world is just an avatar, so could be anyone, visually speaking. They did something like that with cloud atlas and 99% of the audience doesn't get it or can't stand it.
  21. Outstanding. Exceeded my expectations and did justice to the original trilogy. Best blockbuster movie for me in years. My only regret is not seeing it on the big screen.
