  1. Artist Update: Keith Williams has been added to the guest list. The long time inker for Marvel has worked with just about every artist and on every character over the last 20 years. Keith is also a talented penciller as well having drawn the Phantom daily comic strip. Keith never disappoints his fans with his commissions.
  2. I stopped asking for autographs unless I can specifically control where the artist, and only the artist, signs his name AND I hand him a pen with archival ink. At least Schwartzenegger's signature is below the primary figures. But why have him sign when he's not the artist?
  3. There are plenty of artists that love the $ that sketch cover commissions bring in. I hear you can even commission someone to draw superheroes wearing an iPod, if that's your thing. Sketch covers are here to stay. Not for everyone but art comes in all forms and different price points. I think it gives people a feeling of a custom comic. It merges collecting slabbed comics with OA.
  4. For an expensive vintage piece, I would spend some extra $ and have a professional conservator / restorer like Robert Dennis evaluate the art. I would purchase the art contingent on his opinion that it is authentic. I personally could not tell vintage aging of the Bristol or if someone splashed a Starbucks latte on a fake to make it look old. However, I'm sure Rob can tell the difference. For newbies, the thread regarding the Fake FF # 48 cover is a good starting point.
  5. Will File a police report and ask the USPS supervisor to review videotape. See who person is, get printout and give to police Dept. All the best. N.
  6. I spoke with Zaddick about this last week and asked that he also speak with Mike to make sure fans who line up and pay admission get first crack at any artwork that Mike may have for sale. Dealers and exhibitors, (including me), should take a back seat. Zaddick agrees and said he would speak to Mike. Cheers! N.
  7. If it's not Lockheed, then buyer overpaid. Lol.
  8. Will Sorry to hear about the theft. I used to have a P.O. Box so just a few points: - did they get rid of the keys? I used to open my own box. For oversized packages, I also received a slip of paper. However, you would hand the slip to the mail clerk in order to receive the package. - The majority of packages required a signature so I had to show ID and sign the postcard to go back to the seller. - if something was lost / stolen, the P.O. appears to be negligent. Have them review video to see if it's an inside job or if this person has struck multiple times. Best of luck Will. N.
  9. I was half joking about Dazzler but continuing with the X-Men mutant rollout methodology, introduce Dazzler in a cameo appearance. Gauge fan reaction, then see if it warrants a solo movie or larger role. That's how they introduced Colossus, Cable, Kitty Pryde, etc. The upcoming Phoenix movie maybe a great opportunity to squeeze Dazzler in there. Disney now options all actors to 6 picture deals to lock them in for 2 trilogies. They need younger actors and actresses. Once you get the movie cameo, the 2 aforementioned Dazzler books will spike. If a solo movie kicks in, it has the potential to be a key.
  10. With Disney closing the Fox assets and regaining the movie rights to certain titles, wait until Marvel comes out with the Dazzler movie. They can set the movie in the 1970's when roller disco was at it's peak and show Sam Jackson with a full blown afro getting recruited by SHIELD. Uncanny X-Men # 130 and Dazzler # 1 anyone? Who doesn't love X-Men cross-over as a bonus?
  11. No one wants to get burned by a fake. With OA prices escalating, more forgeries will pop up in the future. I personally would spend a few bucks for a professional evaluation from someone like Robert Dennis or Susan Ciccone before making a big purchase.
  12. Thanks for all the feedback so far. I will have to look at those ring binders in person at my local art supply store.
  13. Everyone has different nostalgia points. It's YOUR Mt. Rushmore list.
  14. My initial thought when I saw the email from Joe and Nadia was $2 million. But since HA can bid on their own auctions, maybe it gets goosed to $4 million. Anyone know the dimensions of the painting? Frazetta tended to work small. While the painting is great, if I am a potential bidder going to spend big $, my preference would be bigger is better. Price per square inch. Lol.
  15. Don't they still do Free Comic Book Day?
  16. The list needs context. Any write-up, explaining how they came up with their top 15 would be helpful. I'm sure some younger collectors are not familiar with all the the names on the list. I certainly am not familiar with Feininger or King.
  17. Dave Gibbons doesn't seem to be on anyone's top 4 list so far. Interesting.
  18. Not everyone is on the various chat groups on Facebook so please start a thread here on CGC if you come across some scam artists.
