  1. NYCC is still pimping out Thursday tickets. The last 3 years, they have not been able to sell out Thursday. This is great for hardcore collectors since day 1 is the least crowded. 90% of artist alley shows up on day 1 including the big names of the industry, although maybe late afternoon. They want to make as much $ as they can. Cheers! N.
  2. If I were Sal Buscema, I would have Felix represent me.
  3. Great pics, thank you for sharing. I'm glad Caniff is getting some respect. Cheers! N.
  4. aka the kid's table at Thanksgiving. I believe that room was closed down because no one wanted to set up in there.
  5. 15K for the cover? Fair price for a modern cover? Congratulations Felix and Ryan. I can only speculate as to what the first appearance of Carnage would be worth if it was available for sale.
  6. Batman 11 original cover art is currently on exhibit at the Society of Illustrators in NYC.
  7. Someone is liquidating their entire collection and has managed to fly under the radar all these years.
  8. Reed Pop is still pimping out tickets for Thursday. Usually hardcore collectors love opening day in order to get first crack at new inventory. I guess people are sick of being treated like cattle.
  9. If your primary reason to come to NY is to attend NYCC for 4 days, I suggest you get a hotel near Times Square, walking distance to the convention entrance on 38th St / 11th avenue. If you need to drop off purchases or take a nap, you can. Plenty of food options at night after the show. All subway lines intersect there so if you want to go sightseeing on other days, take the train. Stay at a large full service hotel in Times Square. NY hotel tax is about 20% so be prepared. Coach buses from all 3 airports are available and are your cheapest way to arrive in NYC but locating the bus in the airports your first time out isn't the easiest. Ideally, you should travel light if taking the coach buses. It's not a bad ride and will drop you off at the major hotels. Car Service, Taxis, Cabs, Ubers, Lyft are most convenient. Since you cross State lines from Newark, NJ (EWR) into NY, the fare DOUBLES. A regular yellow cab, taxi from LaGuardia (LGA) or JFK airports have a flat fee into anywhere in midtown Manhattan plus tolls. No meter rates. The taxi dispatcher should make you aware of that. LGA is the closest airport but the worst. I would not take public transportation (train) from ANY of the airports. Why lug around all your luggage, trying to figure out where you are going? To save $20? Take the coach bus if necessary but not the train. During rush hour with luggage? Up and down the stairs? At night from Jamaica station? I have, it's not pleasant. LGA does not have a train option. EWR train is okay but bus is better option IMHO since they should drop him at the hotel. Good luck Jay. Lol. Cheers! N.
  10. I didn't recognize John D. He looks like half the guys attending SDCC. Lol.
  11. The McSpidey cover did not sell at the LA show, Albert still has it at SDCC. The guy in the pic may have just been posing with the cover.
  12. The guy in the Star Wars T-shirt is helping out Kwan Chang, who is in the green shirt. Kwan reps Olivier Coipel, Lenil Yu, Jerome Opena, Nick Bradshaw, Quesada and others.
  13. Single Exhibitors Badges for the week were being shopped around for $1500- $2000 the week before the show. Why pay $6000 for a pair of regular badges?
  14. Great pics, keep them coming. Not too many attendees walk around with 250K in cash at SDCC.
  15. I've never had a problem with Mike. I actually think he is one of the nicest and friendliest dealers. If there was a communication issue, it sounds like it can be resolved.
  16. Sorry to hear about your backpack. When I received my green backpack from Amazon, I could immediately see how poor the stitching was. Most of the negative reviews were about the straps breaking at the seams. While I could return it to Amazon, I will keep it and try to reinforce the stitching around the straps and see how that works out. Otherwise, I might try the one Glen bought.
  17. The painting itself looks fine. I agree with Bronty, no need for paint restoration. I would take that $ and have Sienkiewicz paint me something new.
  18. Great exhibit. A wonderful selection of art on loan from the private collections of Rob Pistella, Eric Roberts, Chip Kidd, Frank Giella, Paul Pope, and many more. Rob is the consultant / curator to Society of Illustrators for comic art exhibits. I ran into a lot of other familiar faces so it was great to catch up with everyone. If you are in the NYC area, it's worth stopping by as some of the art is essentially from black hole collections. I won't spoil what was there. You will have to stop by and see for yourself. Thanks to Brandon for reminding me about opening night.
  19. I don't want to hijack the thread and bore people. If we meet up at a show, I'll be glad to buy you a round.
  20. I might stop by with another out of town collector / fan. I'll be sure to look out for you and Melissa.
  21. I repeat, I've never heard Rob ever ask fans their plans. If you have and it bothers you, feel free to discuss it with Rob or his handlers. My AMC movie theatre gives senior citizens 10% off. I pay more for the same service. If I don't like it, I can leave. A glossy picture of Tom Cruise would be worth more with Tom's autograph than without it. It doesn't matter if the autograph was free or paid for. The signed pic would be valued higher even if the incremental value was only one cent. Same with a Sam Kieth comic. The comic would be worth more autographed. The comic might be worth a $1. The autographed comic might be worth $2. Sentimental value is irrelevant. Autographs by celebrities are worth more than $0.
