Lou Cameron's Unsleeping Dead
Darth Corgi replied to bronze johnny's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
Bronze Johnny gets it. Full marks As long as none of us drink the water the boat ride is on, we should be good...or were we supposed to drink it? Dang....I can't remember what the clerk told me when I bought my ticket. -
Lou Cameron's Unsleeping Dead
Darth Corgi replied to bronze johnny's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
What? You gotta be kidding me @telerites and @Robot Man Let me help. -Giant dominant green Witch head dripping with a cackling mouth and purple tongue...a Purple tongue! -It's set in an apparently abandoned haunted carnival...the ride is broken down. -Delicious Full signature of the artist playfully written across the front car. -Strong yellow-red-green color palette. -That witch hair...unnecessarily rococo and detailed. That right there is an artist having some fun. ? -Sometimes it's what is not illustrated that is the most interesting. What's happening just off cover or behind the scenes? What's behind that spiderwebbed ticket window? What lies on the floor in there? A skeleton? Rat nest? Answers? Or nothing at all? The best art does more than exist as a pretty picture...it springboards your imagination to further places and inspires great stories...even if they exist only in your mind. Hope that helps. Next time the carny is in town, I hope to see you getting your tickets and boarding the Lou Cameron Precode Horror Boat Ride. ? -
Lou Cameron's Unsleeping Dead
Darth Corgi replied to bronze johnny's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
This is my most anticipated one so far in this series. Nice to see Lou Cameron finally get a spotlight on his contributions. Also great copy for that cover. One of my favorite Ace covers. Originally was supposed to be out late last year...now a May release. This one is gonna brighten up your bookshelf during the Halloween season or any other time of year for that matter. -

Darth Corgi replied to Dreamtoreal1's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
All great books! Clutching Hand is super underrated. Interior stories are pretty violent which is why ACG left their logo off the front cover of this one shot. -

Some great top horror lists. Lots of popular favorites in there.Below are my top 50 horror books I picked out in two batches of 25 each. Safe to say something similar (but a little bit different) will surface again around Halloween time in the traditional Undead Thread. Patience fellow Comic Horror Heads. All in time... -Christian -

What is the 1st TRUE GA Comic HORROR Ever?
Darth Corgi replied to Dreamtoreal1's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
There are two debates at work: -First Horror comic cover -First Horror comic which has all horror stories for interiors The best explanation I have read on the subject is from the wonderful zine series, "Tales Too Terrible Too Tell" published by NEC. There are eleven in the series and were released in the 1990s. Worth tracking down for the precode horror collector. Heres what they have to say: -
Yup! One of the best.

Beauties Triston! Well done. That Worlds Of Fear has not been turning up as often as it used to. I've got a soft spot for that Voodoo Annual. The guy looks like his face is made of warm taffy and he's pulling on it...and those other characters in the background....A total Ajax precode circus! Love it.
