  1. Ever since tape caught on one of my SA books and damaged it, I vowed to remove tape completely out and away from my collection. I have now been tape-free for over 15 years. The first step is to admit we're powerless over tape—that it has become unmanageable.
  2. Another one is "CGC ready" - an eBay search just got me 900+ results. What? Is the seller going to ship it to CGC instead of me if I buy it?
  3. It was a friend of my mom's who got me into comics. He was into DC horror and used to give them to me after he read them. I was about 7 at the time. So, my mom indirectly got me into comics. It used to irritate me that when I spread out comics on my bedroom floor to sort or look through them, my mom would come into the room and obliviously walk on them with her big slippers. She just didn't give a mess. Fast-forward years later as an adult, about 15 years ago, I went to my mom's house to pick up about 10 longboxes I stored there. I was going through the books and had some on the floor. My mom stepped all over them. At least she didn't throw them out.
  4. Thought I'd share this. Didn't see anyone post this in the forums here. Earlier in the week Geppi participated in a Q&A discussion with retailers re the comics industry today, its impact from COVID, DC and changes in distribution, FCBD, and more. One thing he briefly mentioned, but it peaked my attention, was that he's looking into breaking into the secondary market by carrying back issues, which could be ordered by retailers through their Diamond account. Anyhoot, here it is for anyone interested. It's about two hours in length.
  5. Todd McDevitt certainly got a lot of attention from the media and the comics community at the time. Found this online post from 2007 with some details: http://www.lyriacomicexchange.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=51&sid=86e74c27cbf2e39058697738f91bc506
  6. God bless Chris Claremont and John Byrne! Their books always stand apart from the rest. Or maybe it's Byrne. Project PEGASUS and Vision Quest are the standouts in the runs of Marvel Two-In-One and West Coast Avengers. Byrne seems to be the common denominator.
  7. Also, one of my favourite Marvel Team-Up issues is a non-Spidey team-up.
  8. Marvel Team-Up may have been the second title that featured Spider-Man, but it tended to be disconnected from continuity and all the drama of the Amazing Spider-Man title. Peter Parker the Spectacular Spider-Man, from what I remember reading it 40 years ago, was more in line with continuity but ran mostly independent storylines, at least early on. And would Spidey Super-Stories be considered next in line for Spider-Man titles after Marvel Team-Up?
  9. If you're putting together a complete run of a title, the first issue is always key.
  10. I don't know anything about Walking Dead, the show or the comic. So I cheated by finding this on the Internets: http://www.recalledcomics.com/WalkingDead116ThirdPrint.php
  11. I'll concede and let you pick the next artist.
  12. Who looked at this & said:"Yeah, that looks awesome!" With the exception of Marvel Premiere #28, Robbins usually puts a cap on value. Though I do like the cover of Cap #225.
  13. DC Comics from that time period brings back childhood memories with me too, especially the ones with the bi-centennial banner from 1976. That was when I my obsession with comics began and I remember these issues well. The Spectre run in Adventure Comics was also important to me. Issue #433 was the first comic I ever owned, and I still have my original copy somewhere (along with other copies later acquired). Can't get enough.
  14. Since we were sent home from work last week to reduce risk of Coronavirus exposure, I've taken the opportunity to organize my books. So this week in my bronze age collection is not about what I recently acquired but pulling books out of various boxes and putting them in order. Working on DC. Finding stuff I haven't seen in a very long time. It feels good.
  15. Some sellers are getting drenched right now. I was looking at a book from this seller a few days ago and checked out his sold listings. I was alarmed at how his last auction went: https://www.ebay.com/sch/socalcom/m.html?hash=item3b43cd49c9%3Ag%3AJ6sAAOSwtbpebP6K&item=254540597705&_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=cgc&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2046732.m1684 A total of 19 out of 26 slabbed books were less than $20; 9 were under $10. Non-key slabbed moderns are showing their true colours.
