I used to have a job cutting grass. I got to the point where I could tell how many more passes it would take to be done. I’d set a number, and then count down FF covers in my head. I thought I was the only person in the world to do that!

If you carefully read FFs 66 and 67, you notice that Jack and Stan are telling different stories. The “Him” arc was the last truly innovative concept Kirby would give to Fantastic Four. After this, it was a steady diet of androids and reruns. Still beautiful, still great, but never again what it was. Fantastic Four (35?) 44-67 are as good as comics get. I keep waiting to run into a collector who targets just this run.

Finishing up the greatest run in the greatest title in comics.

I think it’s all relative. If you’re talking bronze, 8.0 isn’t high grade, Centaur? It is.

Oh, yas! I know you rank ASM 31-33 first. Would you then go FF 48-50, then FF 57-60? Or is there another blockbuster story you’d rank ahead of these?

The next four confirmed that this run of comics was the greatest of all time. All the money and resources of Hollywood at that time couldn’t do what Kirby did. Many share my belief that this is the second best story of the Silver Age.

Could be. He was a sci-fi fan as a kid. He was probably one of those college-age Marvel fans.

When people ask me about a good Fantastic Four movie, I usually respond the same way. That movie has already been made, and it’s called “The Incredibles”. I knew I would never get the FF movie I want after that.

I’m a Fantastic Four completist, and I have one, too. Wonder if a club is called for?
