  1. Felt like I got this one at a nice price, especially for one of my tougher and more expensive must-buy books. After getting it, I am thrilled. This book looks closer to VF and has great color.
  2. Halloween has brought out the best of these books. The past few days this great thread has stepped it up a notch. Thanks for all the great books being shared.
  3. Hadn't thought about that movie in years KTLA TV had nothing but the best. Ssssssss and that movie about the two-headed guy ("Siamese if you please" was in their promo) seemed to play about four to six times a year as I grew up. Best TV station ever.
  4. This seems a bit over-the-top in tone. It's not the best form to come on here and blast an established seller as intentionally ripping you off until you've made some effort to enlist people's help in getting to the bottom of the situation." I agree. 100% My fault on this. I honestly have bought many copies of GL #7 recently and it was ME who got confused as to if Trey sent me the copy I bought from him. I appreciate everyones input, advice, support and critique... next time I will go the more civil road and discuss matters first with fellow boardies.. it's small world we have here. On a side note - This weeks been kinda stressful for me as I'm getting married this Saturday... I think the 'stress' contributed to me jumping the gun here. I hope Trey and others can forgive me here as all I wanted from him was a response that he shipped the book (Actually first question was if the book had writing on the outside plastic cover to confirm it was his), I believe him nonetheless... just wanted to hear it from him. I have noiw and all is good ).. I hope Sorry my man Awesome way to help put this to rest. Congratulations on the big day. And the first time your wife asks you if a dress makes her look fat, this big debacle will seem like child's play trying to resolve.
  5. No, I sure hope not. He's one of the last people with "silver" in their name who hasn't gone bad. Plus, I know he takes pride. Gotta be a mistake.
  6. Me too! I tell John all the time I never noticed how many covers have playing cards on them until he finds them and posts here. Fantastic books! Agreed. I play poker a LOT, it's partial income to me and I must say the more he posts, the more I think about going after a collection of them myself. Drink the Kool Aid! (I keep hoping to see a woman in a green dress playing poker just before parachuting out of an airplane. That should be able to spark a bidding war around here.) Do you have an index somewhere of the playing card covers you've got? Whenever I see a cover with cards I think of you, but then figure you probably already have it. The Photobucket link in my sig has scans of all my covers. There are about 20 books I know I need, however every once in a while I find a new one I didn't know about or a new book is published. The ones I know I need ar: Army Motors v6 #1 Dark Mysteries #7 Gunsmoke Western #32 *Joker #1 (Tangent) Joker #2, 4 (CGC wanted only) Mary Marvel #21 Miss Fury #1 True Western #3 (Canadian) Twilight Zone #74 (*Gold Key and Whitman) Uncle Joe’s Funnies #1 *X-Men 1997Annual Young Allies #19 Zip #20, 21, 22, 23, 25, 26, 31 (I have a list of all the ones I have, but posting about 400 lines of books seemed ridiculous.)

  8. The first book was my only purchase in Long Beach. And a few older books:
  9. Can't he get it through his head that he can run but not hide. He's just not real clear on the concept of "hiding" Making antisemitic comments while simultaneous slurring other ethnic groups is as good a job of "hiding" as these guys: I think I found his cats.
  10. I shipped my Priority and insured the book for its actual value - basically insure it for a reasonable amount so that if it gets run over by a postal truck, you don't get burned. Over-insuring is a waste of money, just protect yourself.
  11. Dang I'd like to pick up one of those science comics... I had a Green Mask 1 years ago, that I sold to Lee Hester.....it's an underappreciated Fox. My old copy and one of the very few books I've owned where I truly feel the grade is unfairly low. I thought it could get a 7 and didn't expect worse than 6.5. It is a great book. Congratulations on the nice books.
  12. One of my favorite whacko threads of all time Hey divad My hippie daughter was up in San Fran this weekend for the Love Parade... She's on her way home and just called my wife about an hour ago and got a speeding ticket going 80...will it never end... I wonder how fast she was really going. That's what the cops write down when they don't want to haul you in. (I learned this when I passed a cop doing about 104 trying to getting as far from Fresno as fast as I could. Of course, nice thing about going that fast is that you get to skip the whole "Why do you think I pulled you over?" bit.)
  13. Perhaps I have erred in not reading more Tracey. Heck of a tale.
  14. I have noticed a severe lack of covers with Hitler playing poker. This sucks, because I am loving all these Hitler covers and want an excuse to add one to my collection.
  15. Steve Borock got around it all so easily with his "Assume all books have been pressed" comment at the start of every sales thread. It avoids any accusations and avoids getting into debates. I can't imagine the harassers on here are doing this to every book they consider purchasing on eBay, CLink, the LCS, Craigs List or other places. And I certainly doubt they hang out and do it on books they have no intention on buying in the first place, as they do here.
  16. I was seriously considering picking this one back up. I had bought a nice graded copy but sold it a while back. Easily one of my favorite covers. As always, I enjoy your tastes in comics.
  17. Two out of three card covers - you have magnificient taste in comics.
  18. Thanks for the nice comments guys. I have 407 comic books with card covers. 165 of those are CGC books. 18, not counting a couple of common moderns I just found with card covers and can pick up easily or the handful of card covers the guys at World Wide Comics have been hunting down for me that I have not paid for yet (Racket Squad #1 and a couple Richie Riches in that pile that I didn't know about until they went looking). What I know I still need: Army Motors v6 #1 Dark Mysteries #7 Gunsmoke Western #32 Hawk #10 (one on eBay this week ) Joker #2, 4 (waiting for nice CGCs) Mary Marvel #21 Miss Fury #1 True Western #3 (Canadian - technically not needed for my quest) Uncle Joe’s Funnies #1 Young Allies #19 Zip #20, 21, 22, 23, 25, 26, 31 The book I most want to come across is the Army Motors because I assume they don't come up too often or Dark Mysteries #7 because it is goofy and kind of fun. The book I would most like is an upgrade of my VG copy of Strange Adventures #80. I'd like a nice copy to join my two nice House of Mystery copies. They are among my favorite covers.
  19. so I take it you didn't overpay then. Nope, now I pretty much hit right at GPA.
  20. With getting the #0 back from CGC today (I hoped for a 9.8 but was afraid it wasn't), I completed my first registry set. (Not worth much and no playing cards, but I simply love the covers.)
  21. All are for my personal collection (except for the dupe 9.9) so I do realize that financially some of these make little sense. The predictable (luckily most of the subs were what was expected) Happy with this pickup from SD. Thought it could go 9.6 or 9.8 Expected a 9.6 but I love this cover and haven't found a better copy. The bad Expected 9.8 but missed The WTF?
  22. The Awesome! I am thrilled with this one. For a silly X-Men variant, this one was much harder to track down and much more costly than I expected. I lost several eBay auctions for raw copies before finally winning this one for $61 from a seller who didn't list the condition (but did say it was NM in an e-mail). I expected a 9.6 so The Good OK, I should be thrilled, however in my entire collection I own only one 9.9 comic - it happens to be this book. I decided to send in my raw copy anyway because I thought it had a shot at a 10 and no worse than a 9.8 and I could get my money back. Now I have two 9.9s of the same title. Weird.
  23. My three "free" subs back after being dropped off at SDCC. This one picked up from Metropolis as a 9.0. Looks like we all agree. It has a small tear near the top staple that keeps it from grading higher. This one's an eBay purchase at a nice price. I have a CGC 7.0 and thought this was as good and has a shot at 7.5. Apparently it is only just as good with slightly better page quality. This one sat on ComicConnect for months and the seller wouldn't budge. I finally couldn't hold out and went ahead and purchased it after failing to find a copy even though I felt I overpaid. It was listed as VG and I agreed it was a very nice VG, but with the hole in the cover expected a 3.5-4.5. I like being wrong.
