  1. I don't have an answer, if I did, I would probably be making tons of cash as a consultant or a psychiatrist. I just know that both sides are right, and wrong at the same time. It is a grey area that is going to be tough to change, aside from removing the icons totally, and that would be boring. Not to mention losing the "I'll take it" icon which would result in no sales. The people posting the icons probably need to ease up on them a bit, and the others need to lighten up a bit and enjoy life, it's way to short to worry about little smiley faces. I am probably guilty to a degree of posting too much stuff, but it was only Cloudofwit's sales thread, so who cares.
  2. I second that. I don't completely disagree with that, I just think people are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Yes, some people have posted way to many graemlins, but looking at Blue's thread, the ones slamming the graemlin poster were taking up more room than the original graemlin post. A polite PM would probably been enough, rather than a full blown discussion in the thread, both parties are guilty. To most of us, this is a hobby, sure there is some serious money exchanged at times, but it still should be considered a hobby, and hobbies should be fun. This is a collectors website, not a retail business site. If you run off everyone that enjoys this as hobby, who will you sell to? Just one dealer to another dealer? That will be fun, I bet there will be no record sales in that situation, just lots of price haggling PM's back and forth. Nothing wrong with dealers, but if not for the people that do this as a hobby, they would dry up on the vine. If you do decide to police posts in this fashion, where do you draw the line? One guy eating popcorn enough, 2 is too much? Are we going to ban people for eating too much popcorn???
  3. Could you please explain this bizarre statement? You're saying that spending $10K on medical supplies should be treated with complete professionalism and dignity, but a $10K transaction on a GA book should be conducted like a drunken 10-year old with zero professionalism and even less tact? Well if you don't know the difference between the medical supplies and comic books, there is no helping you. One is life and death, the other is not.
  4. Bingo, besides it is not nearly as much of a concern as people posting stuff like...Oh, double guide...good luck with that, or I see those on ebay for less... If you are going to be angry at anyone, take it out on the people that make that type of post. If the seller feels the thread is totally out of control, post an updated list of what is for sale to bring it back around, most of it is good natured fun and not meant to harm anyone. These are COMIC BOOKS people, hello....the very name implies a bit of kidding around, if we were selling medical supplies or weapons, it would be different. Some people get so wrapped up in the $'s they forget to enjoy the hobby. Not to mention the fact your ruining the holiday spirit....
  5. Speaking as someone who has watched a sales thread drop to the second page in less than 8 hours without chatter, I voted for chatter, I understand some people that think the sky is falling but most threads will survive longer with a little friendly banter.

  9. Kudos to EggsAckley for a nice copy of Tales from the Tube
  10. I don't think you did anything wrong, unfortunately there seems to be a lot of forum nazi lately.
  11. Any book that I didn't personally buy off the racks, has a possibility of kitty pee on it. Now you know the reason why I hate cats I like cats - I just can't eat a whole one by myself anymore I imagine this is a regional thing? Not sure if it is regional or not, I noticed this sign the other day, and fluffy has been missing for a while
  12. From what I can gather from various websites he was born 1930, so about 78 years old. He has had some health issues since the 80's, so I am just glad he is still around. When you look at some of these books and realize they are almost 50 years old, it's a wonder there is anyone left to sign them. I felt like it was appropriate for him to sign the file copy, due to the fact it was either in his desk or a cabinet near him for many years. The copy came from a guy that worked at Warren in the 80's when the company was going down the tubes. No clue as to how much it might be worth, it's priceless to me, due to the fact it was most likely flipped thru on occasion by some very famous writers, artists, and a famous publisher.
  13. Okay, got the Creepy #1 file copy with Warren's sig on it back today, not a super high grade, but not many file copies out there either (I believe Jim Warren may have one). Looks great to me (scan is so-so, mags always have to be pieced together in photoshop)
  14. Got my grade back for the Creepy #1 File Copy, 8.5, not a super high grade, but it was also signed by James Warren at the show last month, so being a SS and File Copy should be pretty good. Will try to post a pic when I have the book back in hand.
  15. Yup, it has been on Ebay for a while under Lewis Wayne Gallery, actually, a lot of their books are over on Heritage while being on Ebay at the same time.

  20. Very nice, I am waiting for a box also, about 10 books, should be here Friday. Best 2 in the box will be a Creepy #9 @ 9.4 (that could have been higher if not for a deadly tape accident, don't ask and, a Vampirella #10 @ 9.6
  21. To be fair, it's not as nice as a dell or gaines file copy, probably only an 8, 8.5 at best.
  22. Nah, I would have him sign the Creepy #1 Warren file copy I have
  23. The average fan of Warren fare is 30-40 yrs. old? Yeah, I saw where someone said that the Warren's will have no value once all the fan's die out, I really don't think that is quite true. The value is low because of the sale Warren had when they went out of business and sold tons of back issues on the open market, thus lowering the value for quite a while, but those issues have pretty much been absorbed now. It is getting tougher all the time to find high grade issues, you get lucky now and then, but less often as time goes by. The Creepy Archives will help spread the word so to speak, and can't hurt. I really think it is just a matter of time before Overstreet and some others realize just how tough it is to find some of these books in high grade. As far as the age of the fan's go, I don't quite believe that, look at golden age collectors, many of them were not around when those books were printed, same will be true of the Silver age eventually. If it were just the people that read the books when they first came out keeping the comic collecting alive, then Action Comics #1 and some of the other golden age would be pretty darn cheap right now.
  24. Kudos to GACollectibles for some books older than me, makes me feel young (thumbs u
