  1. If by that you mean sending the coupons / comics? He was obviously just writing his address, not sending these in? Or did I miss something 🤷‍♂️
  2. This is AWESOME. Is there an infinite thread of gross mis-grades? If not, can I use this to start it??@Robert Doggett omg the two cbcz at the bottom right (unless those are case scratches) And can you pleeeeze post a high-quality full front and back? 🥳
  3. ComicLink results disappear for the public, but if you still have access to your page would you mind copying and pasting those images here along with front and back photos of what you received? If there's a misrepresentation then that it's important.
  4. I may have been unclear when I said "should list the reprint number"; that was in reply to OP as to say that if the label doesn't show it as a reprint then it's probably a first. I know that the 10 is a third, and I do see it now on the Census (thanks!), but when I pull up Snatch on cgcdata.com through a title search I'm not seeing a record. Perhaps it's there but not coming up in a search for the word? Maybe I'm blind? edit: I was able to find a link to the entry, though the page won't pull up for me when I click. I found the link at the bottom of the list of "Oldest CGC 9.9 and CGC 10.0 Books in the CGC Census Data". Let me know if you get a result when you click the entry, I just seem to time out. Maybe this has all just been a technical hiccup that has to with 1900 or similar, but thanks for your help and I apologize for the confusion. http://cgcdata.com/cgc/cgc99/
  5. Hi Panda, that Mad is gorgeous! Imperfect staple placement in this era isn't a defect at all, more so the rule. The only consistency with old comics is their inconsistency. When looking at any particular issue it's often helpful to go straight to the top (like you've already done here) and see what's being allowed. If you see defects present in a 9.8 then you can assume they're allowed for that issue all the way down, and you may be surprised at what's allowed. If you're interested, try searching the Heritage Auction sold items and look for 9.8 CGCs. You'll see 9.8 defects you never imagined were acceptable. The best one can hope for regarding the condition of any comic is going to be whatever condition the comic originally appeared in. The ideals we imagine don't apply when they never existed. There are exceptions to this, and those copies are sometimes the ones for which 9.9 and 10 are saved.
  6. Sorry your slab looks like this, I'm sure you already know it happens because the plastic of the outer case is laying against the inner well. The following may not solve the issue, but it might reduce or alter the oil art: Use a suction cup to gently pull away the front of the outside holder in various locations and in various ways to see if you can get something less distracting to your eye. Hope this offers a bit of relief.
  7. Here are two pages from ASM 109 combined into one for MT 88. Note the inserted continuity speech bubbles in panel 2 and 3 on the reprint:
  8. I believe you're looking for a different entity, one that provides notes for all grades under 9.8. Might be out there, but I couldn't tell you 🤷‍♂️
  9. Hi Aphotic, welcome to the ridiculous world of slabbed comic books. I'll be the party pooper on this one. When it comes to CGC grading, there's no such thing as a "true" grade, only the number shown on the slab. Your contemplation of this copy's eligibility as a 9.8 is taking place too late; you were supposed to be satisfied with the comic book's appearance before you bought it. The shorthand for this philosophy is "buy the book, not the slab", and if you'd prefer that your 9.8 slabs be free of comics with pressed-out corner jams, then you must verify that absence prior to purchase. If this comic is secure in its holder, and if the holder is in the condition advertised, then you are unfortunately without recourse to the seller on the point of this comic's appearance. You purchased the advertised item and you did receive it. It's important to remember that 9.8 grades are assigned to comics that have handling defects. 9.8 is the third-highest grade on CGC's 25-point scale and does not represent a comic in mint condition. Sorry for this bummer reply, but thanks for hearing me out 👍
  10. The only thing faulty here is the series! All manner of alterations to covers and interiors: page removal, panel removal, panel extension, story division extension, story division sub-division, page mirroring, black and white colorization, text resizing, character costume changes, character removal, who knows what else
  11. Snatch issues are a cluster, but they should list the reprint number if it wasn't the original. What I'm confused about is what happened to the 10. Do you know why this doesn't show on the census or on your site @valiantman? It's old school CGC, so I don't know if that matters: https://www.cgccomics.com/certlookup/0050668008/
  12. They'll hold value if you use the centerfold as a wallet? 🚪
  13. This is exactly the kind of thing I'd expect from the estate of a prominent New Rochelle attorney!
  14. Yeah, the low stuff runs the gamut; often a lot of "otherwise" comics like you describe rather than just being generally trashed copies.
  15. It appears mid-grade, but they won't like the tanning.
  16. Do you happen to know why they're left unsealed? Thanks
  17. Thanks for sharing these, they're amazing. The 31 may be unfortunate, but that damage is incomparable!
  18. I agree with the second part especially with NM; they're usually nice looking comics as they don't just hand those grades out. Going blind on the bottom of the scale is a total crapshoot; for example, huge stickers are a possibility.
  19. It depends on the fingerprints. If they're oily fingerprints on black, then no. If they're made of matter sitting on top of certain white areas then yes. The same kind of matter fingerprint on color areas, maybe not so effective with dry cleaning. It would be helpful to see the book and pics of the defect areas.
  20. Yeah, but after seller sees the 2.0 show up in their box I think they would need to decide what to do from there. If they go ahead and price it then 🤷‍♂️
