  1. I rly enjoy these contests and appreciate the effort Mike has taken which is considerable. But i have come to realise that I have learnt very little when it comes to grading as a result of these contests. I'm not complaining mind you but It's rly been all over the place for me. I don't deny i prob suck at at this but the grading is rly all over the place at times, probably depending on who has graded it, when it was graded and which period the book was from. Still fun regardless.
  2. I started collecting funny books in the late 80s and seriously (sadly) collected keys only in the early to mid 2000s. A 6.0 blue label Bats 1 was around 20k. I thought these books had been around since forever so the prices had stabilised and I could purchase these books once I had saved enough. What a fool i was. I doubt a 6.0 blue label will ever be had for those prices. GA and SA keys (not the mega keys) will always have a market whether it be new fans or just investors. The OA market is even worse. No good Ditko spidey is gonna be had for 20k. This will most certainly not go the way as stamps. As a fan and collector, I so hope I'm wrong. And stamp collecting had a revival during covid mind you.
  3. If history has shown us something, it will go up at some point for sure. Sooner rather than later. Once prices keep falling, sellers stop selling. Demand goes up. Prices as well. Comics are a limited pool. OA even less so. I guess the perfect storm of covid and cryptoboom was a once off for the sky high prices but who knows.
  4. I'm just saying being attractive isn't a requisite to be supergirl. If she was portrayed as supergirl without having powers to fly, that would be different; or not being the cousin of Supes. Being good looking and attractive aren't exactly the same things. Check it out. And both are subjective. For what's its worth, I find Milly good looking. There is an otherworldly look about her. Good casting Imho.
  5. A cameo and a first appearance needn't be mutually exclusive. A characters first appearance could have been a cameo. Think the issue would be the extent of that character's cameo, some half panel silhouette or a full page appearance front and center.
  6. My guess is (assuming it's no earlier than 1955) Season 5, Episode 10: "The Stolen Museum" (1955) or Season 5, Episode 16: "The Million Dollar Superman" (1956)
  7. Guess a lot to do with the cover for 24 perhaps with red front and centre. Not that it should matter , but maybe it did.
  8. I belive the term used then was " scientific romance" . The precursor to the term "science fiction". Coined by C.H Hinton who had a series of books. Probably Wells was influenced by him.
  9. Im truly stunned by the price, so much so that I don't think the cost of marrying the cover to a coverless copy and having it graded makes financial sense unless its purely for the love if it. The cover can stand on its own. If I had both, I would just keep them as they are.
  10. Sci-fi is a genre that usually deals with the potential impact of science and tech. Tho Frankenstein fits more neatly into the genre of Gothic horror, it does have elements that fit into sci-fi. At the most , we could let it have the mantle of a proto sci-fi novel.
  11. Can believe Oscar Isaac signed on for S2. He is a good actor but S1 was a epic s**tshow. It was painful to watch.
  12. It's akin to having someone wishing to have all the negative news about them on Google removed as they have reformed. Historical evidence should never be removed or whitewashed. We should look forward and hope that time will be a great healer and that some people will recognise the difference in the person in form and substance.
  13. Sorry if I appear odd but I'm so excited to see this slabbed and see it in auction. Tec 27 and bats 1 are my all time fav books. Just seeing ur copy gave me goosebumps.
  14. Think you should seriously consider grading it to get maximum value.
  15. I would say the condition would deteriorate further kept like this. If u wish to monetise, think sooner rather than later.
  16. I would recommend sending it to Heritage as GA books usually have a wider viewership there and tend to sell better. Not sure how many exact issues are in the volume but there are no major keys in there. The condition isn't that great either. Would say a rough valuation around 6 to 10k. Bound volumes are not in demand except for completists or if there were key issues in the volumes.
  17. Thoughts on this ? Ended at $19,200. From the Great Darkness Saga. Keith Giffen and Larry Mahlstedt Legion of Super-Heroes #294 Splash Page 7 Original Art (DC, 1982)....
