  1. The price was not a shocker if not for the brittle page designation. Wonder how much a coverless complete Action 1 or Tec 27 with brittle pages go for now. Rarity is definitely a factor especially as those who can afford to pay are probably not going to let it go. I for one am glad that brittle pages are not the poisoned chalice it once was.
  2. I do own 2 GA coverless slabs with brittle pages. Had it for several years. Seems none the worse for wear. I believe the spectrum for brittle pages designation is wide as I have seen some with pieces all over in the slab while others relatively structurally sound . In the early days, I was aggressively looking for someone to do leaf casting. Glad I didn't. Having said that I would only buy brittle pages for mega keys. Missed the days when most collectors avoided such books. The days of getting a complete coverless Action 1 now with brittle pages for below 30k are long gone.
  3. You answered your own question for the large part. It's nice to know that what you own is valuable. How much that matters varies person to person.
  4. Maybe it's the reverse. Can't speak for all of them but some don't sign thinking about the value or that it even matters. In this instance, it was inscribed to someone, meant as a token or in appreciation. Dont think Gaiman thought much beyond that.
  5. The incription by Gaiman rly hurts to see. Not that I could afford it but I wouldn't bid on it.
  6. Agree. Think the larger point I wanted to make was the very existence CGC exists is to mitigate the inherent risks posed in collecting comic books. One being inflating the condition of a book through sheer ignorant or being disingenuous and/or making undisclosed restorations. This is a whole other level. It's not restoration, its a blatant forgery. Instead of rejecting such books or being given a 'NG', CGC is certifying them with grades. Just find that a bit odd. Though I can also see the argument that CGC is an impartial 3rd party grader and grades whatever is presented. And yet they don't grade certain covers which they deem as too risqué. Views ?
  7. Why would CGC grade such books when it's highly probable that they maybe cracked and sold as being authentic ? Tad bit irresponsible.
  8. It's a manga series that started in 1989 and still on-going. The author passed away last year and his childhood friend and studio are continuing the series. One of the darkest manga and anime I have read and seen. The original anime's soundtrack is haunting (netflix) Think the passing of the creator has helped to skyrocket the prices. U won't find any Berserk cells cheap.
  9. Must be some record for a coverless copy (coverless front, backside is intact) with brittle pages .
  10. Am watching the comiclink auction for the "Book of Samothrace" painting. Didn't expect the bid to be over 60k. Its a stunning painting though. https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FPREVIEW.ASP%3F_SORT%3DYES%26returning%3D1%26code%3D2023aug%26f1%3Darp%26ODire1%3DDESC%26f2%3Di.Type%2C%2Bi.Title%2C%2Bi.IssueNumber%26ODire2%3DASC%26f3%3Dsortcond%26ODire3%3DDESC%26fshowpicture%3D1%26fthumbbeenhere%3D1%26reliststatus%3Dtestrls%23Item_1711813&id=1711813&itemType=1
  11. Would much prefer Cavill as the kurgan.
