Yeah, I stand by my earlier statement. That dude's art is terrible. What is that muddy mess on the Ghost Rider cover?

The logo and name of their Infinite Black IP splattered over the top of Marvel's trade dress.

The only thing they think they did wrong, and are willing to correct, is the spelling error.

    Just ...wow!!

The spelling error which was actually CGC correcting Black Flag's bad grammar. So they are correcting something to match something incorrect.

Is the room spinning? I feel like it's spinning.

Man, eating the cost of that booth? I’d be surprised given the stance that the owner of Black Whatever thinks his books are “dope” and “makes people money”. Those people tend to not have things like this bother them.

Well CGC have made their stance clear on the next two books. Universal Grade Label with notes about aftermarket additions.

What has occurred between Marvel and Black Flag is a separate story. CGC may be willing to grade the two future books, but is Marvel willing to allow them to see the light of day? Especially, given that there is speculation that one of them was a mash up of Infinite Black's IP and Marvel's:

"Zymotica[ ]is the name of the actetate cover intended to be created for Clayton Craine's Ghost Rider #1. for this weekend's Boston Fan Expo, the "Zymotica Vs" variant cover. Might that suggest Black Flag Comics were intending to use their existing retailer exclusive Clayton Crain Ghost Rider cover approved by Marvel, to promote their own intellectual property, created by Clayton Crain, with a bit of acetate on the cover? Might we get Zymotica Vs Ghost Rider? You could see how Marvel Comics might have a problem with that more than the "In God We Intrust" cover."

They’re setup, I’ve had two friends post pics to Facebook so far. Will share here

That's what I thought. Looks like Bleeding Cool was basing their article purely on an "exhibitor list" of some sort that I have not been able to locate.

  5. Can anybody confirm this? I thought I saw a booth picture from Boston earlier.

"Black Flag Comics are still not updating their social media, despite that they are meant to be exhibiting at Boston Fan Expo. Only thing is, they are not present on the Boston Fan Expo exhibitor list, not as Black Flag Comics nor as Infinite Black Publishing."

Tell me more, this is the greatest thing I’ve ever read on the interwebs.

    Read on!

(Note: because I’m a lawyer, I stopped short of outright stating he used the $3M in embezzled funds to buy Gonk droids, but the implication is there, right?!)

This drama is better than a lot of what's on TV.

So, one of my favorite pass times is watching corporate train wrecks.

There’s a Transformers message bird where Megalopolis Toys’ downfall was chronicled.

There was the U.S. Marshal’s auction of the Gonk Droid Vintage Star Wars focus collector’s collection after it came to light he was embezzling his day job investors’ accounts to pay for his hundreds of Gonk Droids.

Oh and who can forget the slow burn that is the current Heritage Auction/Wata games situation?

I was trying to explain to one of my coworkers today how I wasn’t going to watch TV tonight, just catch up on acetategate

  8. Where are we here? I didn’t do last night’s homework and skipped ahead 15 pages in this thread.

I see Black Flag has no major social media push of its Boston etate books. This could mean nothing or that they were given a stern talking to and finger wagging by Marvel.

7 minute short version of Black Flag UF 4 acetate C2E2 con 'exclusive variant' commentary from another USA RETAILER instead of the 2 hour long YouTube collector drama over 4 staple Cgc 9.8 and up acetates slabbed a full week BEFORE C2E2 started:

I did not expect that voice to come out of that man.

So what we wind up with is a trifecta of stupidity:

    • The store exclusive is a manufactured collectible
    • The acetate cover is a manufactured collectible on a manufactured collectible
    • The CGC slabbing is a manufactured collectible of a manufactured collectible of a manufactured collectible

This. Unless waived, contractual rights are in addition to all rights of the parties under statute and common law.

    They will now…

I always laugh when I come across a strange outlier of a contract provision or statute. "Wow, I want to hear the story about why that became an issue!"

I was doing research on DUI laws in law school and found the Michigan one: "unlawful to drive upon the frozen boundary waters".  Michigan: "Ok, guys, enough drunk Truckscapades!"

I think Georgia or Alabama: "huffing glue counts."  Georgia or Alabama: "Alright, everybody, yes huffing solvents counts as driving under the influence. Please settle down!"
