  1. I think you were being too nice about the transaction overall. I am not sure that the transaction is probation worthy but this seller isn't one that I would like to deal with in the future. He should have graded out every single issue and provided grades for them. He wasn't selling .25¢ books here. I know that I am lax on these boards when I purchase but the seller should have provided scans of all the books.
  2. I still have a problem with your thinking. You broke the seller forum board rules. See #8 - http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1460472#Post1460472 8.List estimated shipping costs, times, and methods. Therefore, you are at fault. If any buyer wants to back out of the transaction because of your mistake to list the sales thread properly that should be allowable. Personally, if someone asked me as a seller to cancel a transaction, I would do it as I wouldn't want to force anyone into a sale. I would hope that you as a seller on these boards would honor the rules. Again, my opinion really doesn't matter here but I do feel for those that aren't happy with the transaction moving forward.
  3. I think at the very least stating what a handful of books cost is sufficient and every sales thread should have it. For US sellers, I understand that without using media mail for comics it is more difficult to determine shipping cost. Then the shipping method used should be disclosed with an the buyer to inquire about actual cost. In any event, if anything was stated on the thread regarding shipping cost or method, it would give he buyer more information about the sale overall. I am not sure how this particular thread was worded but I do know that I have looked at your other sales threads. I don't recall your location stated.
  4. Yes, in today's world it is up to the buyer to confirm additional cost. However, as a seller you should have disclosed shipping cost up front. That is part of the board rules. Since you broke the rules, if the buyer wants to get out of the transaction, you should accomodate that request. That is just IMO which is never popular in this arena. I was really hoping this would show up here. Although I'm a big fan of conspiracy theories in my case not listing that I am shipping from Canada was an oversight. I recently changed my sales thread opening and it is not included. I don't recall if it was ever included but this is the 1st time there was an issue. Thus may be partly due to the sale being a dollar sale so some postage costs exceeded the cost of the books. Most of the buyers I have had numerous dealings with so they were well aware. The others I am trying to work with. The idea of the sale was supposed to be a deal for boardies. I thought there were quite a few underpriced books. Although I will correct the problem in the future I do believe the buyers share in the lack of communication. They assumed I was shipping from a US location and never asked for a quote. Even shipping within the US has options right? Media vs 1st rate vs priority etc. Because I see atleast some of the responsibility with the buyer I don't think it is grounds for walking away from a deal. At the very least they should try for a compromise.
  5. I have purchased from Canadian sellers on these boards and they had no problem giving me a estimate of shipping charges before I commited to my purchase. I know one seller didn't have a location spelled out but the hint of being in Canada prompted me to ask. I think all sellers should have some sense of shipping cost so that buyers can figure out the total price. Yes, if you location isn't stated properly (I am an offender of this too), then it should be a seller rule to list your location in the sale thread.
  6. How did you like the Historian? I loved it but ended up getting bored about 2/3 into it. Agreed. That book was really interesting for a while but just went on and on and on and started repeating itslef. Too bad. I thought it was just my 2 yr old attention span.

  8. I'd suggest you edit the PL in the other list with primeinvestibles re-added to the list until this gets sorted out. Wasn't that aspect a done deal when discussed? I think she took herself off when adding Firefly. I don't think the nominations are comparable, the first nomination was valid & added while this adjustment to the list by a PL nominee (primeinvestibles)stating someone was lying is pretty ridiculous - she got paid, what's she got to nominate someone on other than spite?? WTF?!! So she Added Firefly AND removed herself from the Probation list without discussing the matter at all? Just unilaterally did that? All on her own? Didn't ask anyone? What a complete and utter display of disrespect for the way this board operates. She's obviously never seen what happens when someone does something shady, underhanded and disrespectful on these boards. If she did, she would not have pull this kind of wildly_fanciful_statement. Hubris!!! Had I known it was a girl, I probably wouldn't have called her an azz in her FS thread. However, this is totally rediculous. If it bothers you, Mike, I'll call her an Azz...I was looking at her eBay listings when this came up the first time, seemed like a fairly new ebay seller who might really have had another ID, which usually means past transgressions. That was a horrible move, Julio has always been wonderful to deal with...add me to the list of people who will not deal with her, list or no list. BTW, since when are refrigerators comic book related? Personally, I don't think anyone should be calling anyone names regardless of gender. We are adults here. It looks like she changed her id from prime-investibles to funtasticcollectibles. I wouldn't ever purchase from any seller that curses their buyers in feedback - http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=funtasticcollectibles&ftab=AllFeedback
  9. Please don't lump me into your everyone category. I most certainly wouldn't lie or be deceitful to get a book. But that is just me. Sorry I have a conscience and like to look at myself in the mirror. Oh well, despite what everyone here will say, if they were in the same position they would have done the same. Just like all of the boardies that chastised Chuck for the Mile High collection and saying they would have paid more, set up a scholarship in Church's name, etc., if they were in the same position they would have done the same thing. My friend did know the value of the book and was thrilled as he did not expect to ever be able to buy a copy of AF #15 (he likes his books to be VF or better). I am happy for him on this find. FWIW, I told my friend he made a mistake offering so much for just a few books as the owner might now take a look into the value of what is left. If it were me, I would have offered the owner $20 for both boxes of books after checking them all out and snagged everything. I also teased him that if there was an AF #15 in that shape he might have missed out a Hulk #1 and FF #1 in similar condition by not looking through the rest of the last stack.
  10. I call wildly_fanciful_statement. Spider-Man is an iconic, high-profile character whose appeal has been mainstream for at least 30 years. I find it hard to believe that even someone who knows nothing at all about comics or comic book subculture would look at a cover that says 'Introducing Spider-Man' and not question whether if it had any value outside of yard sale filler. 4 for $30 means the seller thought they were worth "something"...maybe he looked it up in a 1970 OPG and came to that price? or looked up amazing fantasy 15 and found the price on the one put out in the 2000s... Definitely not wildly_fanciful_statement. My friend and his wife were out visiting her brother in Eastern Canada. He and the brother in-law decided to do a few day trip into the US hitting small towns looking for antiques and comics. They struck out there, but they got back into his brother in-law's hometown on Friday and decided to hit a few garage sales. They did not find anything until they hit one older couple's sale and he asked the question "Do you have any comics". The owner said sure and took him into the garage where there were 4 small piles of books in a couple of boxes. The first three piles were 50s Dells and low grade late 50s DCs, but he pulled out three from there that he needed. The last stack had the AF #15 near the top, he pulled it out and stopped looking there (I wonder what esle he missed ), then asked for a price for all 4. The owner asked what he thought they were worth, so my friend emptied his pockets and came up with $30 which the guy accepted. That is why it was an odd price, and why the brother in-law was going to follow up with the owner to see if there was anything else that they missed (this is why I will not disclose the location as some boardies might live there or nearby.........). Basically, the owner did not care about the comics and therefore took the first offer he got. You never know what will turn up in garage sales, I guess. I know of a local collector/dealer that found a bunch of GA DCs at a garage sale a 4-5 years ago that included low grade Tec #36, 37, 38 and a few in the 40s, as well as a bunch of early Archies and Captain Marvels (wish I had bought the Archies now..... ) . The copy of Tec #28 I bought from a local store came from a guy that was given it and another book (can't remember) by his grandfather, who had found them at a garbage dump. Did your friend know the true value of the AF 15?
  11. DJ those are nice sketches. I love the different eyes.
  12. 2nd purchase and it was just as great as the first purchase. Thanks!
  13. This is way overdue feedback too. I love the few 100 pagers I received and they fill in my collection great. The packaging was hands down the most detailed I have ever received. Right down to the taped bubblewrap corners. I look forward to your next sale that strays from GAs. Thanks so much!
  14. Kudos to a great sales thread and thanks for answering my WTB post! Thanks so much Jon.
  15. I wish we had a HPB. I always hear about the great deals. I have The Strand which is good for tpb but they put price stickers on the covers of the comics.
  16. +1 That sucks Beau. I would also appreciate a PM. As would I. Been searching up a storm to no avail. I would make a terrible sleuth as well.
  17. Finally, I am going to say this about these lists. I had put together a reoccuring offender list for myself and shared them with the board. The list was included in the probation list but eventually fell off. Why? If I recall correctly, it was thought of to be in bad taste and that ever member should have a chance to redeem themselves without having it hanging over their head.
  18. I apologize then if I am incorrect. I recalled reading that he dropped off two packages and you barely looked at them or didn't open them before he left. I am still under the opinion that these boards didn't weigh in on your purchasing decision so it should not be argued here. I think it should be announced in Comics General and there are plenty of other threads regarding bad deals there that are searchable. I truly hope that you receive a full refund. I am seriously hoping you are joking here or that you didn't read Andy "October"'s post about how SAGAT knew that the book was restored, was told to his face it was restored and them stated he was selling it on ebay anyway. People are not allowed to make false claims about their product in order to induce a transaction. There are several criminal statutes built around that concept. Are you REALLY blaming the victim here? Really? They are all members here, including the eye witnesses. Who gives a flying fig about WHY Twisty bought the book from him? The fraudulent description is the core issue here. Because he didn't rely on knowing him from the boards before buying? Really? That's what you are standing on? That's more important than outright fraud? How can you possibly blame Twisty when you have independent 3rd party testimony from an established and respected board member that SAGAT knew for a fact the book was restored and sold it as un-restored? If you want to stick you head in the sand and ignore what SAGAT did to Twisty that is your choice. The rest of us seem to prefer knowing when something like this happens, protecting ourselves and protecting each other. I never said I did not look at the book when he dropped it off? I'm trying to stay out of this and not sway anyone's opinions and just lay out the facts but you keep missing them. I said I am no expert at detecting restoration, as I had not really been collecting for some time and had never seen a restored book at the time of the transaction. This is when I asked him if it was. What I did admit to was being naive and not knowing what a "badly restored" book would look like and taking his word on it alone. Hope this helps.
  19. retracting my statement as I am being corrected. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
  20. Personally, I prefer not to have any discussions with you as they go no where IMO. You are twisting my words. He admitted to not looking at the book when he paid for it. I am just saying how do you fork over that my money without looking at the item. The argument here which you are avoiding is whether or not Sagat belongs on the probation list or HOS. I am stating no because this was not a board transaction and furthermore, the boards had no influence on the purchase. Should he prosecute, I would in light of the new information but again that is not a board decision. 21. I just quickly reread your original post in PG section. To me you purchased the book based on knowing him from high school. It appears to me that Sagat being a a board member here didn't play a part in the purchasing decision. Now two years later rather than have a warning thread in CG, you are requesting him to be placed on the list because he is a member here. I can see making justifications on transactions that are done off the boards based on the trust of a member here. But I don't see that being the case here. I feel for you and I wish that you get every penny back. I am sure that Sagat's selling days are over here regardless if he is on the list or not. Just a few weeks back purchased a book with an undisclosed color touch. It was terribly done and I didn't catch it in the dim lighting of the LCS. Luckily I looked at it in my car and the spot was very apparent. The fact remains, while it sucks, you should have inspected the book before forking over that much money. Add to it that Andy "October" told him to his face, directly, without equivocation, doubt or failure of certainty that the book was absolutely, positively, restored to which he responded that he would "sell it on ebay anyway" which is how Twisty bought it...then you've got something worse than the seller being simply stupid. I did purchase it from SAGAT on ebay however as it was a local pick up he asked me to do it off of ebay, or rather cancel the transaction so he could save the fees. I had not been collection for a few years at this point and had never seen a restored book, even though it was quite bad. I specifically asked him if it was restored while he was sitting there and he said," I don't think it is" and" it looks good to me." This I remember vividly, as it was the "I don't think it is" part that made me decide to meet him half way on the refund as he made it seem like he really did not know.
  22. I am sure that I can recall other board members purchasing off the boards that wanted to go through board probation. It is a tool for these boards and it should remain a useful tool here to track bad transactions. What Sagat did is despicable and should be broadcast through out the boards but isn't probie worthy.
