  1. Lonetree had one of those type of sales threads last year. I don't think it went to well but you should ask him. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3560267&fpart=1 Personally with all the sales threads you may be selling them for less than you wanted. I would just list them at x and do a % off at the end of the thread.
  2. Hey, I know this response is kind of late, but in my last two sales threads I have just started taking down pics once they are sold. In my first thread I stated that I was going to do that just to save space on the thread and not have people scroll through tons of pics of books sold, especially when I would have many books to sell. I do keep a copy in photobucket though in case there is an issue. If there is an issue, I would have no problem refunding a buyer's cash if he does not agree with the grade, even if it's a $1 book. I guess it's about principal. I just want to make sure that people are happy with what they buy. I just came across this thread and it is very helpful learning from you guys. Thanks a lot. From now on I think what I'll do is leave the pics up when people don't quote the pic with their . When I buy stuff off people, it annoys me a little that you see the same pic over and over of a book that is already sold. Again, thanks guys for this awesome knowledge. (thumbs u Firefly, since you are using Photobucket you could just paste the link along with the embedded picture. That way when you remove the picture the link will still be there. Like this: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3987274#Post3987274 That's a great idea. I only keep the pics up for about a week or so after I ship. I guess it is true that once posted on the internet it never completely is removed.
  3. Actually, the 30 day window was created for disputes between the parties to allow for them to be worked out. It was also to allow time for buyers or sellers that went MIA to give them a shot at paying or shipping or communicating in a reasonable amount of time. The allowance for people to be added before the end of the 30 days was an example of the list growing and evolving to adapt to fact patterns not originally anticipated by the original charter. There have been situations that have arisen where parties have affirmatively and clearly made their intentions known that they are NOT going to perform their part of the bargain in an individual deal. They did not fail to respond, there was no gray area in what their intentions were, they were not going to pay (or ship the book, etc.) and there was no point, no reason, no logical cause for waiting some predetermined amount of time (originally set up to clarify potential misunderstandings) before that party was added. The Constitution has amendments. If one of the greatest documents the world has ever created can grow and change I don't think it's the end of the world if the CGC Forum Probation list admits there are gaps in its coverage and moves to close them. I was involved in that CapFreak disaster and if I remember correctly, we all had to wait out the 30 days. Exceptions cannot be made because of favoritism. I believe in living documents but serious are you bring in the constitution. I am not going to debate this, I am stating my opinion and that is it. I think that the rules may need to be revised to suit the new problems that are arising but to penalize these three perceived offenders based on voting is ludicrous.
  4. In all fairness, I believe this was applied only in one or two instances where the buyer flat out said that they had no intention of paying. It seems harsh to force the seller to wait 30 days under those circumstances. Especially if it means they have to hold onto books for a month instead of putting them back up for sale. Exceptions to the rules are being made willy-nilly is not right either. The rules need to be changed then if everyone things that a 30 day window is to long. The rules should be enforced to stop the pitch-fork menatility that can develop rather quickly here. I feel that new problems are coming up and perhaps it is time to look at what is happening and make changes together not just have one or two inputs.
  5. I lost faith in the probation list when putting a member on it for non-payment before the 30-day period, which violated the rules. It was just a few members that decided yes this buyer should be on the list but the rules (to my knowledge) where never changed to accommodate buyers remitting payment before 30-days. Leniency or bending the rules once shatters the process as a whole. Voting to put members on the list or banning sketch sellers who haven’t actually harmed any parties account for this type of circumventing the process. This community does a great job at policing itself and I believe these instances are justifiably handed case by case by individual members. If it is the rules that need to be changed based on an ever-changing selling environment then we should do this as a community and look to use these three cases as examples rather than trying to incorporate them into unfound rules. Once the community loses faith in this probation system, what do you have left? What I see being done here truly saddens me and is so far from the spirit of the boards that I originally joined.
  6. k im done I guess this is the final resolution? Ya cause i didnt know what else to do so.... It is solely your choice. I merely posted this to make sure that others had seen it too. I believe that you will find a Tec with your name on it. I would suggest to continue saving for it so that you don't have to rely on time payments. While I am not in the market for these type of books, I find it a shame to see a collector is not able to enter into a specific market because of either deeper pockets or close relations. Good luck with your collecing goals.
  7. k im done I guess this is the final resolution?
  8. +1 Isn't this a little like saying the raped woman "was asking for it" ? I think the point is the buyer or NON buyer in this case needs to do something instead of blowing it off..Hall of Shame perhaps for the seller or NON seller? I understand this point of view. I think the problem here is if Yannis were put on the list, there isn't a way for him to make good and be removed from the list. I believe people on the list can get removed by rectifying their situation, but how would this situation be rectified? Don't get me wrong; Yannis is absolutely at fault. I just don't know what the answer is here? I'm going to throw this out- maybe some small monetary compensation to the victim for all of his wasted time? So he shouldn't be put on the list because of his limited possibilities of removal? Hmmm. That really doesn't make sense. His removal from the list is to work out an arrangement with the buyer. Why should this seller be treated any different? Oh is because he has nice books. At the very least the seller should have given the original buyer the opportunity to pay for the book ahead of time. Why not go back to the original buyer and say listen I need funds ASAP can you swing it else I have a back up buyer. I am sorry.
  9. Has your friend tried emailing the Seller using the paypal email account? As pk mentioned he may not have been on the boards yet.
  10. I feel for your friend. It stinks to lose the book but then see it posted is like adding salt to the wound. I hope he continues his search.
  11. This is my only one but I love the cover. It reminds me of a spoonique dragon figurine I own. I believe I posted this in the Dragon cover thread too. Dark Horse Presents Hellboy 151
  12. Hellboy Library Edition 1? Sorry no Hellboy. Mostly DC Super-hero books.
  13. I was just going to put these on ebay since my last sales thread here tanked badly but I'll try again. I am going to list about 20 trades most of them in excellent read one condition. I am also going to list some modern readers.
  14. I spent a few dollars on custom cut corrugated cardboard backers and super stiff, paperboard envelopes and although it costs me about $2 a package extra for the supplies it makes shipping easy and fast. I got them from a local cardboard/box place and they even delivered them. Just something to consider if you are going to do any volume. (thumbs u Or buy in small bulk (25-50 boxes) from Uline or PSAUSA and you can purchase boxed for under $.50/each. Luckily, I found out there is a PSAUSA center about 15 miles away from where I live, so it works out well. I'm sure Canada and other locations have their own low-cost shipping material centers you can buy directly from. I don't buy boxes as there are so many stores around me that will give them to me. It takes a few seconds to cut them done and make boards to sandwich the comics for shipping. Try any books store as they are more than happy to give away the boxes.
  15. I just picked up a 9 and Dope 5 from a bargain bin last week or so. I haven't read them yet. Now I am curious as to the printing.
  16. Boozad, how long does it take CGC to return the book? If it is going to be after that 60-day paypal window then it is acceptable for a buyer to be nervous. So because he did a chargeback over doing the correct thing and requesting a refund he deserves to go on the list. Hmmm that is a bit self serving for me. But in any event, it is tough when a buyer who is not part of the community purchases. You don't know if he understands CGC turnaround time, etc. I understand that there are many presales on the boards. My thoughts are simple, if the seller is out money then he has a gripe. If the seller purchased x item for a buyer in a presale I can see where the seller is out money. However, when the seller just presells something if the sale falls through well he is not technically out money as he does not have the item in hand to sell yet anyway. I am not going to convince anyone so I am going to stop posting on this thread. But can you say that the item would be delivered within the 60 day paypal window? The seller did mention that he told the guy afterwards that the item is a presale but did he mention the turnaround time?
  17. So you would be ok with a Buyer, agreeing to all terms of the sale, more than once, and agreeing to changes in terms and then filing a charge back with Pay Pal anyway? He didn't state in his paypal complaint that he was worried about the book shipping after the dispute date, he directly called the seller's honesty into question. I would rather the buyer back out before the item is shipped than ship the item and be out twice. I understand that he lied but that is not why part of the reason he is on the list. That just accounts for his lack of character. I am not defending anyone here but again I don't think this type of presale warrants being on the list.
  18. You're very forgiving. Even an overseas package should (although not always) take less than 30 days. And even part time comic sellers should never take that long to ship out your order, imo. I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter. I get home from work at 3:30 and then my wife goes to work for 4:00. One of us has to be home all the time. I don't always have the time to make it to the post office when I would like. Sometimes it takes me 4 or 5 days to mail out a package, and in some cases a few days longer than that, but it's never taken me that long to send something out. We are not unsympathetic (well I'm not anyway) towards sellers who may not be able to ship immediately, delays are sometimes understandable, but having to wait 30 days to receive a package (at least within the U.S.) is unreasonable. I have waited for packages here but I don't mind because the rules of the forum is 30 days. I am comfortable with the sellers here and am confident that they will deliver it within the time frame. In the very unlikely event that I need something rush, I guess I would verify with the seller that they can deliver. Most of the purchases here are received within a week or so time frame.
  19. That's not what happened here. The buyer made inflammatory and accusatory claims to pay pal regarding the sellers honesty. He did not contact anyone about emergency bills coming due. He agreed to a deal, agreed to it again with clarified terms and then set off to burn the seller down with pay pal. There's no need to become a revisionist here. Why should anyone have to wait 30 days when the buyer has no intention of buying as evidenced by the pay pal charge back. This isn't a situation with someone shipping slowly and waiting the 30 days to get a package. This isn't a situation with a person ignoring PM's or Emails and you give them the 30 days to answer. If the other party in your transaction makes it 100% clear they are not going to perform on day one, as the buyer here did, there is NO point is waiting another month. That's what the list is for, when a deal is failed they get put on the list and given a chance to do the right thing by the person they wronged. An extra 29 days isn't going to undo the pay pal charge back. Standing on ceremony here is futile and fruitless. I am not defending the buyer here at all. Of course he used whatever means possible to get Paypal to reverse the charges. I don't agree to that but again, how long will until the transactions completed. Why has this question not been answered? When did the seller tell the buyer he could deliver the goods? For me personally if someone wants to back out of a deal, that is fine because I would rather have a good transaction then forcing someone into a purchase. But that is me. I still feel that since this is a PRESALE it doesn't fall under the category that the seller is out any money. He did not purchase the items for the buyer. What was his intentions with the item before offering it for sale. Was he going to keep it or sale it. If the latter than just move on and sell it.
  20. My opinion is that there need to be two different clauses for adding people to the probation list (and this applies to both sellers & buyers): 1a) If a buyer tells the seller that they have no intention of paying for a book they've committed to, forcing the seller to wait 30 days before being able to add the dead-beat to the Probation list is ridiculous. And it defeats the purpose of the list - to warn other sellers about problematic buyers. 1b) This applies to sellers as well - if a seller tells a buyer that he's not going to honor a sale, again, waiting 30 days before adding the seller to the Probation list is silly. There needs to be a fast-track option for these cases (say 3 days). 2a) If a buyer is slow in paying, doesn't quickly respond to PM's, but hasn't said outright that they're not going to pay, the usual 30 days remain in effect. 2b) If a seller is slow in shipping, doesn't quickly respond to PM's, but hasn't said outright that they're not going to honor the sale, the usual 30 days remain in effect. Easy-peasy. I don’t see it possible to argue against the points made above and I’m 100% in favor of this becoming the new guidelines. Makes perfect sense. This will be very unpopular but here it is... The pitchforks come out way too fast on these boards. The 30-day period allows for some cool down plus gives time for a buyer who possibly has an emergency bill come up pay for their transaction. The sellers here also have full time jobs. I personally don't mind waiting 30 days for a package.
  21. Even though he agreed to the terms then filed a chargeback four days later? And you think this is an acceptable way to conduct yourself in the market place? I don't recall the seller stating the turn around time for the transaction. What if the transaction would not be finalized until after the 60-day paypal dispute window? Perhaps, the buyer agreed to the pre-sale but then later learned that he was forfeiting some form of buyer protection. Believe it or not this type of presale buying does happen on ebay. This is a pre-sale where the seller did not run out and purchase the item specifically for the individual. He is not completely out of any money in a sense, just list it elsewhere or on the boards when it comes in. I don't think this is a way of conducting a transaction. I am happy that this buyer was mentioned here. However, if I were the seller I would not want to complete a transaction with this type of buyer ever. Sorry but I don't see this as a punishable offense.
  22. Branget and Boozad, while I am sure that David is more than happy to have members update the prob list. This transaction is not more than 30 days old. The newbie should not be on the list until the 30 day period. I am not too sure that I really side with him being put on the list at all. It was a pre-sale and while he initially agreed to it probably found another copy. Did you give him a time frame for delivery? Does everyone see this as a cut and dry prob case? In any event he should be removed from the list for now and put on in 30 days time.
  23. Just posting this in the proper place Can I nominate him for the probation list then? Would appear that you could. I got the book I bought in a timely manner. I did have it CGC'd as someone had suggested it might have restoration, and it was OK. I didn't post anything publically BECAUSE I had asked to speak with him when I bought the book and he had Gus call me instead. When I asked for his name/phone number, he reluctantly gave me his cell phone...after a few emails. Never got his name, so I was not 100 percent gung ho about recommending him. I was just not terribly comfortable with the masking...However, except for that, I had no problems with my transaction, and Gus was very nice on the phone ...he even offered to ship me a Sensation 31 I was interested in on approval, but I declined. I have a feeling that Gus is the one to contact, not Tom. I'm sorry both of you have been going through this stuff. Andrew, since I'm in NY, if you want me to, I'll call Gus for you, just PM me. It's possible, it's just bad communication...after all, he was a brand new poster when he started the threads...might not check on PMs. I'd also start a Paypal/credit card dispute if you can, that might wake someone up.
