  1. Thanks for that info. Wow ! It looks like anything goes for a Qualified. At 1.8 for a Qualified, I wonder what the grade would have been for a Universal ? -1.8 ? LOL.
  2. I remember when I first starting submitting books from my mostly Silver Age collection, I thought there was a conspiracy going on and CGC was deliberately giving my books inferior grades. I highly suspected only the big players got the grades. Karl is obviously upset about his grades so far, especially with the finger print. It's a path to CGC enlightment. Some handle it better than others.
  3. Actually, 9.8's can have date stamps. I've owned a few.
  4. Does anybody know what CGC's cutoff for the Green vs Blue situation is ? I thought it was in the 3.5 area = book must be higher than 3.5 to qualify for a Green Label . This covers the situation for a completely detached cover not being eligible for a Green Label as I think the highest a detached cover can get is 3.0. At least this was my understanding and I definitely may be wrong.
  5. Well, it will probably get a Green Qualified label for the detached top staple. However, with those spine splits, it may be a low enough grade so the detached staple could be included in the grade for a Blue label. If so, the book will be downgraded for a hole on the cover. Is the bottom staple still attached ? It looks to be barely hanging on. This is a tough one for me as I'm not sure of the cutoff for Green or Blue. I think it will be a very low grade for Blue, 3.5 range. Higher if Qualified, maybe 4.5 . I'm also assuming the bottom staple is still attached.
  6. Hey Lion ! I always thought a Qualified grade was invoked for serious but 'small' flaws. By definition, you are assigning a grade while ignoring the flaw. IMO, this flaw cannot be ignored. I remember a newbie lobbying for a Qualified grade on his coverless book. I mean you have to draw the line somewhere and I think this book is beyond that line.
  7. You don't want to buy this book. Since that cut obviously would go through some pages panels, yes, it is incomplete. Out of curiosity, why are you considering buying the book? There's cheaper ways to read the story. If you are thinking about a flip, this is not worth the effort.
  8. With a couple exceptions, it's normal for a 1st appearance to slow down after the movie. If it's a villain, they usually stay down for good. I think this book will wax and wane but basically stay strong. I've noticed that the marketplace in general seems to slow down at this time of the year.
  9. Callaway29 gave a good explanation of the steps above. Yes, you are correct that a Received status does not list the books, that is done in the Verified step. You should see the Verified step soon after Received. Up until a couple years ago, 'Graded' actually showed the grades, not anymore.
  10. Seriously, you think it's 'dumb' to show status through the various steps of the grading process ? You would rather see nothing until the book is shipped ? I believe you are in the minority with that opinion.
  11. Do I understand this correctly ? You are complaining, maybe challenging the page quality of White you received on your submission. You should resub it and 'hope' for CR/OW. BTW, the designation 'White' does not literally mean White. It's kind of like the grade of 'Very Good' which does not literally mean very good at all.
  12. Show us the notes. I'd be more upset about the CR/OW pages. That may be indicative of some tanning to the inside covers, something we could not see. Show us the notes.
  13. I'm not aware of any added benefit for the comics. It only protects the case itself. It makes it easier to slide books in and out of a tightly packed box.
  14. Then you must have gotten all 9.6's/9.8's ? Seriously though, give more detail if you want discussion. What tier did you submit and what were your grades ?
  15. How can you 'prove' there was a warehouse find of any comic book ? Over the years, certain books would be more plentiful, even showing up in stacks at a convention. Whenever asked where they got the stacks from, the answer was usually a warehouse find. It makes sense.
  16. You've just made your own market on this book ! Now, you need CGC to recognize it on the census. Since it's on the label, they should accommodate .
  17. No, that is not normal. I would phone CGC first thing tomorrow(Monday).
  18. Why did you have to buy the grader's notes ? They are free to the submitter.
  19. Your book was graded on 08/09/2018 and was NOT registered as 'error' on the census, probably just as an ordinary Newsstand.
  20. Per the CGC census, about 5% of the submitted books are Newsstand. A 'regular' 9.6 Newsstand would be valued at about 150 . I hope someone else can chime in with good news on the Value front but I'm at a loss.
  21. CGC didn't do you any favors. It's categorized as a Newsprint and NOT an Error. Yes, the error is referenced on the label notes but no new Category.
  22. Actually, that was probably printed in error. The OP is correct, in the notes on the label it states glossy paper.
  23. Looking at the prices of some of this seller's other books, it appears he generally prices them at double of FMV . I understand what you are saying about printing variants but take the situation of the Venom #1 Black cover. It's a cover variant/error, something you can see, looks cool, etc. Here, you are simply talking about the interior having glossy paper . IMO, nothing special about this but again, I really don't know.
  24. The only way to ascertain value on something like this is to put it in auction. I see you paid plenty and bought it with a BIN. I really have no idea of value but 800 Canadian seems like an aggressive price. You should have inquired here before you bought it.
