  1. Yes. #40 contains the origin of the Green Goblin and is considered a classic cover (John Romita's 2nd Amazing Spider-Man cover). Here is a snapshot from GPA of what #40 in CGC 8.5 has sold for in 2024. That most recent sale of $413 looks like an anomaly so I would not expect to get one in 8.5 that cheap.
  2. I sold this one recently. I like the city in the background. It reminds me of a Ditko cover.
  3. I did a little copying and pasting of all that great census data @trmoore54 compiled when I saw it before. Here is the chart but I don't have his full explanation of the numbers and trends saved...yet.
  4. You're right about that. Look at all those high grade copies out there.
  5. First of all, congratulations to @Sweet Lou 14 and all the other 2024 winners. Lou's sets are simply awesome. You make some good points here. As a side note, I have thoroughly enjoyed looking at your sets and reading your descriptions. Your collection is astounding. To your points, I can see the need for an objective criteria for judging the award winning sets. I know that many members invest A LOT of time into making their sets as complete as possible with pictures and descriptions (not to mention the money spent to acquire the books in the first place). The only thing I can think of is that CGC does not want to award the same members each year who objectively have the best sets year in and year out. I can see how that does not sit well when you have many of the objectively best registered sets. I also believe there needs to be a clean up of well known sold books. The Amazing Spider-Man collection you mention is a prime example of a highly publicized sold collection that continues to block other members from moving up in rank. Since the 2021 Heritage auction where this collection was sold, the individual books have been spread out among many collectors, many of which will never register their books for a variety of reasons, and that reality will only perpetuate the problem. The sold AF15 9.6 (alone), that anchors two #1 ranking ASM sets (1-100 and ASM Complete), is worth more registry points than any other member's individually registered entire 1-100 or ASM Complete set. Since that book is sold and no longer owned by the member, this situation is unfair to other members who are trying to assemble (or technically already have, like you do in the ASM 1-100 and ASM Complete categories) a #1 ranking registry set. This particular ASM situation would be easy for CGC to rectify since the sets in question contain pictures of each book that can be compared and matched to the pictures in the 2021 Heritage auction results. Since Amazing Spider-Man appears to be the most popular registered category, this fix should be a priority. CGC could also simply ask the member to manually remove the sold books from the CGC registry. That would be an easy fix which is further needed because this sold collection is also blocking members from moving up in the total comics registry points ranking, like @Sweet Lou 14. So, for what my two cents are worth, I hear you.
  6. My #44 is a bit unique in that it was manufactured with the top staple only.
  7. I almost forgot ASM Annual #3. I believe this was the release date timing. ASM Annual #3 release date 8/2/66 ASM #42 release date 8/9/66
  8. Very nice. Those were the good old days when you could buy collections for that type of money and end up with a gem like your #43.
  9. I sold this one recently. I liked this cover since I first saw it.
  10. Now there is something you don't see every day. Great book!
  11. I won't be much help. This is my only Bronze FF issue at this point.
  12. That is really astounding because the bid, of course, doesn't increase without at least two people (or more) raising it so at least two people were willing to pay in the neighborhood of 28K. That's a good illustration of what happens when someone really wants a book regardless of the sales data. WOW!
  13. I was reading through my Marvel Masterworks ASM volumes not too long ago and was amazed by the distinctive artwork by Romita compared to Ditko when I got to #39. Both are legends. I had been looking for a high grade #39 for a while and finally won this one.
  14. Let's throw DD #17 in there just for the fun of it.
