  1. @MattM CS,

Still interested in a clarification on this:

"If this book was submitted and the autograph is authentic, but it is determined that the sketch will negatively impact the overall grade of the comic, the comic will receive a CGC Qualified green label. Alternatively, if it is determined that the sketch will not negatively impact the grade of the comic, the comic will receive the CGC x JSA Authentic Autograph label."

    What determines the negative impact?

  2. In the case that a signed sketch cover is submitted, will it simply state "[Artist] Authenticated Autograph" with no mention of the sketch? Or will the label also note something like "with unverified sketch"?

Totally blown away by this cover - really like his work, and... I don't see any other SW Jeehyung work... is this is first Star Wars art..?

Yeah, I had only seen a small Rey sketch before and he also did an Ahsoka for these commissions, but afaik no Marvel SW work. One of the reasons I asked him for Sabine instead of like Black Cat or Harley who he has done a bunch.

  4. You could ask for a partial, but the seller did kinda cover themselves with that spiel in the listing description. They might point to that or offer a return (if they provide those).

I have plenty of slabs with comparable or worse damage than what you have pictures and they don't cost me sleep at night, but lots of people prefer/require spotless slabs and would probably choose to reholder if attempts at a partial failed.

Personally I'd take the small L because we're talking about damage to the holder and not the book. And you clearly want to keep the item. If a seller didn't describe defects on a raw or on a book inside the slab (eg the book obviously doesn't match the grade, damaged in transit) I'd return/escalate no question.

I think I said it early on in the season, but the revelation that Sabine is attuned to the Force is one thing that bothers me.  We knew she had some force sensitivity from Rebels as she trained with Kanan, but the Jedi also seem to only train from a young age.  By the end of the Rebellion, Sabine would have been WAY too old to properly begin training.  Then again, when the Jedi of the universe have been purged, I guess you don't really have the luxury of being picky about who you train in the old ways.

Sounds like you just worked it out on your own here. The organized Jedi Order no longer exists. The rules of training are out the window. We can just assume that Ahsoka trained Sabine due to her relation to the Ghost Crew AND Sabine wanting to train. I have tons of problems with not knowing what their relationship during early training (and the break up) was like that would have served as a baseline for their interactions we see during this season, but zero problem with the idea of Sabine being trained to unlock the force. We have seen Sabine training with the dark saber (and fighting with Ezra's saber) and her force sensitivity was even a point of discussion in Rebels -- so it's just not as big a leap as if Ahsoka were training Hondo or Huyang or something out of left field. IMO, the failure of this aspect not landing 100% is down to how it was delivered dramatically in the show.

Well I liked Thrawn in episode 7. Everyone else felt like they were conversing with a wooden plank. There's like no chemistry with any of the actors.

I think all the actors are fine, it's just that chemistry still requires decent writing -- for all we know Hayden and Portman could have been good together if not for Lucas. I think the series has had a lot of scenes with weird interactions that were weird on the page. Like in this ep...

    Spoiler

...when Sabine and Ahsoka reunite, "I thought you were dead." "And miss this reunion?" They aren't even behaving like people here. Like a padawan who thought her master was dead, suddenly returned -- this dialogue and action is not sufficient emotionally. On the page it's weird. Then you have the direction. There is no real/satisfying visual moment between the two when Ahsoka shows up that rises to the specific occasion. It's not on the actors.

Anyway, having laid into this show again I feel obligated to also express how much fun this series is as a SW/Rebels fan. I could nitpick it to death if I gave into cynicism. Thankfully that urge is super low.

Any action on any Star Wars books related to the Ahsoka show? (shrug)

Kanan 6 sold more in Sep than Aug, but within the usual range ($300ish). There was a little rush on raw copies of Mace Windu 5 (Ahsoka cameo) in last couple weeks. Nothing crazy. You can get Kanan 1 at 9.8 cheaper now than even six months ago. I think there are more seller who put up their Kanan slabs in anticipation of the show giving it a bump and end up selling them, but for less than hoped?

  8. Liked most of ep 6, but man, Filoni is really killing our girl Sabine. Doesn't give her any earned moments that make her look smart when there are easy opportunities in nearly every scene. Really into this series but it needs a leveling up in regards to nuts and bolts scene work. Hoping for a Season 2 without sole writing credit.

    Spoiler

Thrawn stranded on a Nightsister planet with zombie troopers is very cool, though -- and not at all what I expected.

She went into more detail that's more pertinent to exactly what she said about attachment though.  She said she saw what attachment did to pull Anakin to the Dark Side and vowed to never have that happen again.  That made complete sense to me given all she went through with him.

But I haven't seen a moment of Rebels so I defer to your knowledge of her relationship with Sabine.  I have to admit I don't fully understand why she's training a non-Force user.  ???

The ideas are not mutually exclusive. She could have made an excuse that she believes/would be plausible for someone to believe and also consciously/unconsciously have other reasoning that is not specifically related.

Her relationship with Sabine in Rebels is nearly nothing. What we know about their training together is what we have learned in these 4 episodes. I assume that we will know a lot more by the end of the season.

I have a big issue with the Ahsoka ans Sabine relationship.  I watched all of Rebels, and the two of them did not seem to have any special  relationship other than she was part of the crew.  No training was ever shown or even implied. I can not even recall them having any personal or one on one conversations. So the master and apprentice relationship makes no sense as it was never established. Not to mention Sabine was never even hinted at having any force ability.

None of the relationship bugs me. Maybe because Sabine an all time SW fave for me, but it's mostly just the actual writing that irks. Sabine trained with Kanan on how to use the darksaber, and during that time he specifically explained to Hera that Sabine could use the force is she wasn't "blocked" and stubborn like a typical Mandalorian. If she never had trained with a saber, if she was always on Mandalore when the ghost crew met Ahsoka/fulcrum then maybe the apprenticeship would have seemed more left-field to me. I think Filoni is using Sabine's lack of force power to say something "new" about being a Jedi and using the force and I don't mind that.

I don't get why Ahsoka would take on someone who's not force attuned.  Worst that she wouldn't train Grogu because he's too old, and yet she re-accepts Sabine who's even older (relative to her race), and less force sensitive.

My feeling is that Ahsoka chose not to train Grogu because her Jedi training with Sabine blew up so bad. That is the subtext at least.

I really dislike aspects of the Sabine story line.  It is actually my biggest gripe with the show. Much of it feels forced and unearned.

I think the error with the Sabine stuff is that Filoni has played it too close to the vest in terms of her relationship between the end of "Rebels" and where we pick them up here. It would probably feel more earned and satisfying if we knew the extent/specifics of their fallout and overall dynamic during the padawan-ship earlier so we can judge it against what we see as this story unfolds. Although we did get a big hint in the newest episode, so again we'll see if doling out this info actually pays off.

But despite any of my misgivings with how the animated translations have panned out so far the show still passes my personal Exist Test. Am I happier that it exists than not? Absolutely. Did "Obi-Wan" pass? NOPE. Failed in like ep 2.

I am very split on this show.  If I watch it through the eyes of a average watcher, I like it. It is very  entertaining on a superficial level.  If I watch it as a more hard core Star Wars fan, many aspects of the plot and characterization fall apart for me, and I get annoyed.

I'm still kind of conflicted, but mostly because I know these episodes had the potential to absolutely crackle if Dave allowed a co-writer to help juice up the characterization/dialogue. It's a fine line, though, because I also wouldn't want this show to have the MCU/sequels level of quippiness/snark. Feel it's just tough being any SW thing post-"Andor," writing-wise.

I choose to have faith for now, because so much of it is hitting that "fun SW" spot and I refuse to believe Filoni would let us down with these characters.

    Spoiler

Even if I am very nervous about how Sabine's stuff has been playing out.

I disagree because then they skip over a certain arc in Clone Wars Season 3.   Remember that Lucas was still the single Executive Producer of the series and had creative input to almost every season.  Something like what happened on that planet that had the three ancient beings had to be conferred with him since it really changes everything.

I just looked it up.  Season 3 Episodes 15, 16, and 17 could be considered very important especially as the characters depicted here were painted on the door to the World Between Worlds on Lothal.

If I am trying to sell TCW do someone who just watched Ahsoka I want to get them to the last 4 eps as quickly as possible to bait the hook and hopefully entice them to explore the rest.

I understand the taste part, and if it's too much to get past then avoid, but you are definitely missing out of some of the best Star Wars stories told to date.

Yeah, I get being turned off by the style especially if it you were only exposed to the start of both series when the animation was at its roughest. Everyone says hold your nose and plow through TCW's first couple seasons, but what I'd recommend to people turned off by the style is skipping all the way to the arc where Ahsoka is framed (season 5?), then watch the last 4 eps of the series. Then, if you dug that, start watching other episodes/arcs.

I wouldn't recommend skipping any of Rebels (mostly bc it's my favorite).

Ok, I answered my own question if Ray Stevenson does more episodes.  IMDB had him credited with only 2 episodes for the series.

    RIP Ray.

He didn't pass while they were in production, so the only thing for certain is that he won't be in Season 2 unless there were scenes previously filmed. The imdb page most likely doesn't take into account episodes that have not aired.
