  1. I agree. Although all of the pre-hero Adventures commanded very strong prices in the auction, I expected the heaviest bidding to be on the NA 24, rather than the 33 and 38.
  2. The big winners in today's auction were Adventures #33 and #38. Although they are both restored, they went for, respectively, 9x and 11x unrestored Guide prices. What the . . .??
  3. If you sell your MF #73, you can upgrade significantly.
  4. Any thread that succeeds in cajoling Dan to post some of his amazing collection deserves a big thumbs up!
  5. I never thought I'd like photo covers, but the Ace covers have caused me to reconsider.
  6. I just noticed that next week's Heritage weekly auction will have low grade copies of the following early issues in the title: #6, #23, #24, #33, #34, #36 and #38. Many of these are rarely available, so it will be a nice opportunity for folks who are trying to get them.
  7. It's hard to argue with this list, even though it wouldn't surprise me if folks re-ordered the last three. In the end, I agree with Cat's rankings.
  8. To find DCs that make the cut, you have to go way back. More fun 35. 5 copies.
  9. The numerous examples of unnecessary over-grading have tainted my perception of the Promise collection. Nevertheless, because of its vast scope and generally high grade quality, I would put the Promise collection in the top tier of pedigrees along with MH, SF, Allentown and maybe Larson. However, it would be at the bottom of that top tier, definitely below MH and SF.
  10. Obscure Fox titles are on fire. Although not at the level of US Jones #2, V-Comics #1 and #2 also made strong showings bringing in, respectively, 5x Guide (despite brittle pages) and 9x Guide. V-Comics #1 (Fox Features Syndicate, 1942) CGC GD 2.0 Brittle | Lot #19844 | Heritage Auctions (ha.com) V-Comics #2 (Fox Features Syndicate, 1942) CGC VG/FN 5.0 Off-white | Lot #19845 | Heritage Auctions (ha.com)
  11. Nice run Billy. You should consider adding issue #5 to your pre-Dart run. It too has a cool cover.
  12. Doh, I was referring to Clink. Wrong thread, is there a Clink thread?
  13. Quite the lineup in the upcoming February Featured Auction. There's something for everyone, including high demand GA books.
  14. Although issue #209 seems to be more common than the others, I've always loved the artwork, especially the damsel in distress.
  15. If I recall correctly, Parrino paid $350K for it and then sold it for around $220K.
  16. Black Hand, nice to see you back on the GA boards. I remember all the MLJs you used to post back in the early days.
  17. Any swipes related to Phantom Lady 17 or 23? I'd love to see other versions of those great covers.
  18. $11,400, almost 30X Guide. Can anyone explain why it went for so much?
