  1. That thread was started 1 1/2 years ago and is 134 pages long. Can you give a general idea of when the Metropolis discussion started?
  2. Wow, out of 43 books, 33 went down and, in some cases, dropped massively. If the sales commissions are taken into account, 37 of 43 went down and the devastation is far worse.
  3. I envy that guy. I wish I could go through Mr. Bedrock's collection and pick out 10 books.
  4. I don't know, but a book from the collection just sold last week for $90K in the HA auction.
  5. The "INT" collection, the penciled "S" collection, the grease pencil "S" collection.
  6. Amen brother, that is not one of Lou Fine's best depictions of a human body. And it is indeed an unpopular opinion based on the mystic cultivated by that book.
  7. Although I have some of the books discussed in this thread, I don't agree with the hype over a "first appearance" in an ad. While it's an interesting anecdote from a historical standpoint, I don't think it should have a significant impact on the value of a book, and it certainly shouldn't make a book more valuable than the book in which the character formally debuts. I recognize, of course, that my opinion is contradicted by the prices we are now seeing on some of these books with "first appearance" ads. It will be interesting to see if these prices hold up over time in our CGC cover-centric world.
  8. I thought they did fine, but they're so rarely offered for sale that I didn't know what to expect. I was a bit surprised that the 7 didn't do a bit better since it's one of the few Gerber 10 books out there.
  9. How did you feel about the sales of the early Jumbos? Did the prices meet your expectations?
  10. That's an interesting theory that I hadn't heard before, but which seems plausible. Someone should do a study.
  11. Thanks Lou, I see now that you are correct. When I made my post, I was looking at a listing that for some reason lacks the grader notes: Detective Comics #16 Billy Wright Pedigree (DC, 1938) CGC FN/VF 7.0 | Lot #92061 | Heritage Auctions (ha.com)
  12. I could have sworn that Heritage was recently posting the grading notes for the books they were auctioning. But now the notes are no longer there. Too bad, I thought that was a very appealing new feature that further set HA apart from the competition.
  13. You should be able to pick up a Larson that is within your means. Although it is a very strong pedigree overall, it includes lower grade copies of low demand books.
  14. It's nice that you gave Clink extra large scans. Much better than what they usually offer.
  15. No, I picked up the 1, 4, 6, 8 and 9, but never saw the 2. I don't know if there was one.
  16. No, Mark once had the penciled "S" run of early Adventures. He tinkered with some of them, but left the vast majority of them alone. When you said you got it from Mark and it was in relatively high grade, I thought it might be from that collection. I don't think I've ever seen the "S" copy of NA #12.
