  1. I don't know if anyone else picked up on this, but at 7:48 in the above 1998 video that was posted in the Youtube thread, Flessel credits the Double Action 2 cover to Flanagan.  This was over 15 years before the boards "discovered" this fact in the "Tribute to Flessel" thread.  The tidbit was out there all those years, but none of us were aware of it.

Borock lost a major opportunity to firmly establish the credibility of the competitor by having it grade as strictly as CGC.  Instead, the market discounts its grades and the main reason people submit to them is faster turnaround times and lower prices.

I agree 100%.  I got the impression that they loosely graded books in an effort to attract submitters/sellers.  But what they didn't realize is that they lost significant credibility with buyers.  In the end, it backfired for both the grading service and the submitters because the product was viewed as substandard.  It's a shame because it would have been better for all of us if they had been comparable to CGC; then both companies would have had to raise the service bar to earn market share.

More recently (June) an 8.0 only reached $10,800 (w/BP) on Heritage, so a lot of range with this book, as seems the case with Phantom Lady in general. Still I'd expect a slabbed 5.5 to hit $5.5K at least. The copy just sold looked more like a 4.0 with the spine stains/foxing and rusty staples. The price seems to reflect that's what bidders thought as well.

That was a candidate for the best deal in the last 5 years.  I still can't understand how such a high demand book got overlooked and went for a fraction of its perceived FMV in a red-hot market (even though it seemed to be over-graded due to a significant color breaking crease in the LRC).

Just took a look at the Harlan Ellison Auction scheduled to end today and it appears that this is the "top" comic book by a long shot so far:

Probably going to be another strong finish and result for this once relatively underappreciated and undervalued key #1 GA first appearance book, although it's probably not going to be as strong (from a relative POV) to the CGC 2.5 graded copy that sold for $11,400 at the end of December last year.  Then again, that copy did appear far nicer than its assigned CGC grade from a strict visual point of view.  (thumbsu

Judging from the prices realized in the auction, the GA market remains on fire, even for Fawcetts.

And I found another example of this situation but with a high grade AF15 from 5 years ago in Canada. The book actually looks like it's contained in a deslabbed CGC Mylar. It kind of looks like the way the guy handles it, he could be warping the book lol.

Also it almost looks too perfect to be honest, as if it had some resto, but tough to say for sure.

The book was offered to his competition Eide's Entertainment  which is the COOLEST COMIC BOOK SHOP IN THE USA IMO.  Owner convinced it was trimmed by the Bob Kane sig.  Offered to pay to get it graded to prove it.  Todd declined.  Last time I spoke to Todd was 2015. he still had it then

Countless copies of this issue don't have the whole Bob Kane signature, so I don't know why the signature would be the tell-tale sign of trimming.

Opinion time...many years ago when fandom was just a baby everyone kept comic book knowledge to themselves until after they got the book...LOL. Anyway looking for the great boards opinion as to what is the single most undervalued GA comic book. Here is my vote:

Human Torch #3 (which is actually The HT's second issue, the first being the outstanding Red Raven #1)....Why...

Well....It is the true first appearance of Captain America in print form and in reality it truly is the first appearance of Captain American on page 44 of HT #3 (2). Lets say you consider house ad's of the future comic book not to count....Fair enough...I know the infamous Detective 26 etc. However while the inside  promotes Cap one coming out on Dec 20 Newstand I believe the inside front cover, that AD it a  refers to the reader to page 44...this reference is the key here, and the true first appearance of Cap and Bucky...in full page color appears, not a reproduction . You can reference this confirmation by Marvel and the outstanding omnibus edition "Timely's Greatest : The Golden Age Simon and Kirby" book. There description acknowledges as CA First Print appearance. It was the announcement of Cap's Club in full color. HT#3 (2) is clearly the must undervalued  GA comic book out there.

Agree or Disagree if you disagree what is it?

PS: somebody just paid $3.12 Million dollars the second apperance of Captain America....and I just love Cap #1 as one of my Favs of the GA, but HT 3(2) is a real bargain!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting topic.  The problem with getting good input is that, in most cases, folks will only want to identify undervalued books they already own.  If they don't yet have the books, then touting the books will only create a demand that makes it harder to get them.  Especially in our recent hot market where very few GA books seem to go for less than they are worth.
