It seems plausible it might have had a lower print run than 155...shops might have ordered more 155s as a last issue, bon voyage, whatever. 153 is nothing to sneeze at either right now. There are more 155s for sale, but that's just anecdotal.

Wonder if it’s a case of seller knowledge? hm

Everyone knows the last issue phenomenon.  They get pulled, collected, and actively put into the market.  Second-to-last issues?  Not so much, even though theoretically, their print runs would have been low as well.

It seems like there are phases where grading is stricter than at other times and vice versa. No idea what causes it, though.

    My guess is new hires.

If you get a new job, you’re likely to lean toward being overly detail oriented and perfectionistic at first.  You want to make a good impression.  In this case, that means noting every defect, no matter how small, and not missing anything.  You’ll probably tend to under-grade rather than over grade. 2c

I thought about picking up #1, as I love the first few movies, but reading this thread, I am kind of glad I didn't.

Meh.  One sixth of the story has been told.  I wonder if anyone stopped watching ‘Alien’ or ‘Aliens’ a sixth of the way in because they seemed slow, or nothing was happening.

    Too early to judge.

Yeah, I think these 2 are 9.6's imo. There are not many to compare, but there is a 9.8 that sold some time back that had them too (not as severe). This book is going to be a hard 9.8 for sure. Here is a raw that sold on ebay as well recently (similar marks)....

It’s become a bigger issue with Marvel’s current cover stock.  Watch for it, especially if you are buying new books that have sat on LCS shelves for weeks, and have been shuffled around.

I subbed these literally a couple/few weeks after this comic release. So, they were probably some of the first ones to get graded. Im thinking they will bump. Im a risk taker in that regard. But, there just arent enough sales right now to know the price difference. Luckily, the show isn't until next year, so I have some time to decide. I could do slow track press+grade.

Those ‘scuff marks’ are color rubs from the shipping process, from the jostling of the books.

I kind of liked it, I don’t mind a slow build on an alien story. In Aliens, one of my favorite movies, the “action” doesn’t start until way into the movie.

For me, in all good stories, you need to establish character and setting.  If you don’t, there’s very little emotional investment in the story.

Wouldn't it really be simpler at this point to create a thread for Star Wars comics that aren't heating up?

After Mando ended and the world got Wanda crazy, things have quieted down a bit. Seems like a good buying opportunity for some books

    And that’s a bingo.

This is the quiet time.  Things could really get rolling as streaming Star Wars content returns in the second half of the year.

Beginning of Jim Lee art on Superman title run.. "classic cover" .. eternal solid $5-10 book

Yeah, i know, jim lee, classic, that's why i bought 50 of them, but it seems everyone else did too.

People were trying to catch lightning in a bottle again, after Lee’s hot run on Batman.

That sounds so innocent. Like owners don't notice stupid prices being paid at famous auctions and inflated prices from dealers. Bat 227 9.8 goes from a $9k book to $30k overnight because on ONE SALE? Metro bumped theirs overnight from $9k to $30k because of the Pennyworth sale. That's BS. One person with too much money pays a stupid price because he can? Where's the average in that? Now ALL 9.8 Bat 227's are $30K? Meh. Keep it. That's what I was trying to illustrate. Someone gets a biggie over a book they simply must have and pays doofus money for it. Fine. That's there thing. It shouldn't dictate the entire market. That's called inflation. Seems to me it isn't sustainable.

That sounds so inexperienced.  Like buyers don’t notice stupid prices suddenly being asked based on one sale.  Owners can now ask 30K for a Batman 227 9.8... doesn’t mean anyone else will pay it.

It’s pure economics... the price will settle where the ask meets the bid.
