May I ask how that happened???

CAL who still finds the occasional box or two....

I’m not entirely sure, TBH, as I have been a recreational hockey card collector for the last couple decades, and don’t follow the graded market closely.  I do remember the time period you recall, where BGS 9.5s drew the premium.

Any graded card cognoscenti here to chime in?

It's amazing how stuff like this takes off, it almost seemed obvious when the cover image was doing the rounds a couple of months ago that it would be very popular. Then within that final week or 2 before release the market dictates a premium!

I only ordered a few - I figured it would be ordered well enough that supply would meet demand.

Kirkman was asked what the first appearance of Invincible is recently on Twitter:

“The first appearance of Invincible is Invincible issue 1. I’ve never known a series of preview pages for a book to count as a first appearance. That’s not an original story or guest appearance, it’s just pages from issue 1”

Kirkman can say that, but it in no way acts as an edict to the market.

I don’t really like the trend, but there’s no denying that collecting of various previews, and character appearances in promo items is on the rise.

WTF, why would they even put that? Rumors started the second week of Dec. for the animated show.

yeah, but when might this actually come out? 2024?

Here’s the thing.  Rumor sells as well or better than fact.  Hence the stock market aphorism: buy the rumor, sell the fact.

Thank you for the labels. Question though, the address is for Polk Lane in Olive Branch. Diamond has two distribution centers in Olive Branch as well as one in Plattsburg, NY and one in the UK. So you are saying the total case number is for all of these locations?

    hm

Raises a couple of questions.  Is the case labelling an internal accounting process at the printer, in which case the overall number is on that label?  Does Diamond get books sent to one main distribution site and then sub-distribute?  Or are there similar case labelling amounts for all the distribution centres?

    Cloudier, the math is.

100k is a big order number. Quit trying to make the book seem rare or low print. It's not.

Nope.  It’s not.  But the economic principle isn’t ‘supply’, it’s ‘supply and demand’.

I think his point is that 100,000 copies of a Star Wars book with multiple first appearances, divided over three covers, of which Star Wars completists will likely want all three, in the middle of a Star Wars furore like we’ve never seen... well, that 100K may not go as far as you think.

ASM 55 does look awesome and from what I can tell on pre-orders here in the UK it definitely has potential.

I went for the virgin cover on a spur of the moment purchase and it's already sold out when I checked again earlier.

It's a slippery slope though with these cool looking covers, I could see the ASM 56 Momoko variant showing available next, but then where does it stop!

Momoko can kill the momentum of any book. (:

    The market is over peached.

Needs time.  Deadpool was Deathstroke-lite at first.

That wasn't time. That was the result of a competent writer developing the character.

That's part of the process, when I say 'needs time'.  These characters change and develop at the hands of the creators who handle them.

You didn't think I meant we could just wait five years, and magically we'd see things differently, did you? :baiting:

There are going to be tons of those 1:10's though. I would venture every store that has any pulse on the market would order at least 10.

True, but they will still sell like crazy since it is the first cover appearance of the Nihil Raiders.

ASM 4, first Silk, 1:10 cover, anyone? (thumbsu
