  1. Congrats on the nice addition. WRT the relative scarcity of SC 4 vs AF 15, I actually had a chat about this with the staff at a LCS this afternoon. They were talking about how common AF 15s were now relative to 10 - 15 years ago locally, and that they are hoping to land some early SA DC keys in a large collection they are trying to convince the owner to part with since they rarely see them. I know that they are sitting on a B&B #28-30 set, and it sounds like they may have a couple of other more key SA DCs but none of the SC or other big 1st Apps.
  2. They had a jailbird sculptor as part of the team?
  3. He is not the most charismatic actor, is he?
  4. I have been snagging them from $0.50 or $1 bins the past couple of years with good success. They are there, but you need to hit the seller before the show opens to ensure you land them. His Zatanna run is a bit tougher to find in the wild now as well.
  5. A lot of people I know felt that SS and Civil War were similar. I know that every Marvel fanboy here on the boards thought Civil War was an amazing movie, but it wasn't that great. I liked SS and GotG better for the same reason - it something different from the standard MCU fare. Like I have said here all along, SS appeals to a different demographic and that is why it is doing well. Even my daughter's friends that have not seen the movie (their parents think it is too scary/adult oriented for their kids) are buying the merchandise because it is cool. SS has the right amount of rebellious and irreverent tone to appeal to the 12 - 30 demographic, which is what is driving the film. BvS was not well received and had too many issues to be a leggier film, and Civil War is aimed at the very young (4 - 11) and their parents (30+) like the other MCU and Disney formula movies are (which is a larger cohort of potential viewers). I also think we are seeing Marvel formula fatigue. The fact that Civil War/Avengers 3 could not do better at the box office, with Spider-Man included, than a very bad AoU may be an indication of this. I hope that Infinity War can correct this as the last three Avengers related movies (AoU, Ant-Man and Civil War) have not been as strong as The Avengers or Winter Soldier - maybe that was the peak for Marvel?
  6. Looks like they had a change of plans. My books were shipped today.
  7. If it worked for Marvel why is it bad for DC to follow the same suit leading up to JLA? I guess the other approach could be to do different stuff with mother boxes, which might be a cooler way to go. At least it isn't a weak attempt at Nazis/Hydra using a "staff" to try to get rid of the concept of "mutants" by changing mutant characters to non-mutants due to a squabble over movie property rights. That one is the only one I really disliked.
  8. Too bad. A Gambit movie should be fun. That being said, nice poach by WB.
  9. SA #205 starting creeping up a year or two ago but still has plenty of room to move. It is a "cheap" SA 1st appearance. A movie appearance should do well for HOS #92 as well.
  10. Did Harry Potter have any issues with being shown in China?
  11. Here's hoping that ASM v3 #1 spikes as well since it is her first cameo so we can move that fugly Ramos cover en masse.
  12. which title? Jimmy Olsen or Forever People 1? JO 134 Yes, sorry for the typo. I have added the JO #134 now. As an Adams artwork collector this is a book that I had been meaning to snag in 9.6/9.8 for the longest time, but since it was stagnant for so long I never got around to it until it was too late. Didn't you at one time have the Rocky Mountain copy? I could have sworn I saw it early in this thread. Not me, unfortunately. My best copy currently is a lowly 9.0. Way back when I had a 9.4 or 9.6 from a nice OO collection but sold it well before it took off (pre-2009). That was when I still had my Adams hoard (a dozen or so nice copies (8.0+) GL #76s, Bats #227s, etc.) and decided to start liquidating it because prices had jumped so high.
  13. Could be due to the volume they have to push through right now.
  14. which title? Jimmy Olsen or Forever People 1? JO 134 Yes, sorry for the typo. I have added the JO #134 now. 15. Speaking of Darkseid related jumps, I see that the last GPA recorded JO #134 9.0 sale was for $1270 this month. The latest 9.2 and 9.4 sales ($1350 and $1816) in July showed a decent pop as well. It is hitting IM #55 pricing at the 9.0+ end now. I wonder how high this book can push when Darkseid actually appears in a movie?
  16. I thought it was after that when they could not get a new issue out within months of the last one. I wonder what E. S. thinks about the drop in market share for Image over the past few months? They need to have another big book come out to prop things up. Most of their recent #1s have not had legs.
  17. When I called last week I was told that they are about a month behind right now.
  18. So..............NWM is falling behind again? I can't believe it. I loved the book when it came out, but have not bothered with the new arc as I figured this would happen.
  19. digitally creating puffs of black smoke can be expensive Nah, that is stuff they teach kids in summer camps now. It is amazing how much plug and play there is available now.
  20. Looks like Batman #181 is still running up as well as #121. I take it the new Ivy on the Gotham show is the reason?
  21. How is Marvel doing a good job with falling new comic sales? I should have made that more specific. Comic sales are falling and will continue to fall for Marvel. Especially with their choices. They are taking the "long approach" trying to appeal to new audiences. Maybe the late 70s for DC for be a good somewhat comparison. Same approach in their movie choices. You really cant blame them as a business. I am sure Disney is pushing them to branch out. Let's be honest, as long as the movies keep making $$$ for Disney and WB, the comic sales do not matter. All they have to do is publish the bare minimum to maintain their property rights and that is it.
  22. It's not just the millennial crowd that likes this. Two of the people who I saw this with were soccer moms. One had a Master's in Teaching. A lot of people liked this movie as it has now won three consecutive weeks. The word of mouth got around that this was a fun and exciting movie like Deadpool. But he does have a point about there being nothing much else out. There's no way it would've won the weekend with 20 mil if there were other big releases. So yeah, excellent timing on WBs part. What did GotG have to go up against last year?
  23. It will be interesting to see how a RDJ-less MCU would work. From a financial perspective, it makes sense due to the % he receives from every film. However, would losing him mean a big drop in the box office take for each Iron Man involved film?
  24. This is a classic case of word of mouth being better than critic reviews which leads to a nice box office. Based on the results from this weekend, it still has a chance to top MOS. What I find funny about the posters on these boards is this: if you read the ASM Homecoming thread and the Marvel fanboys are talking about how it is fine that they are changin the character ethnicities/ages and aiming the movie at a younger demographic. WB does that with SS and all of the Marvel fanboys are hammering the film.
