  1. Interesting. I wonder how much higher a Canadian newsstand edition would have gone for? I was planning on holding my 9.8 Legends #3 Canadian newsstand copy until closer to the movie, but this price makes me wonder if it is not better to sell now.
  2. Nice. I will not see the film until Thursday or Friday with my family so we will help prop up the 2nd weekend numbers.
  3. Yes. This isn't a Batman from any of the other movies. It's a different Batman. This one has had enough of bad guys who try to kill him. They're like weeds. Kill 'em all. More pop up. Kill those. Self-defense is a valid argument, if you need one. That's a disappointment and totally unnecessary To be fair, the using a gun/shooting happened during a DREAM sequence (don't get me started on the sequence) that happened in a dystopian future where superman is like an emperor and has destroyed much of the earth. However he is a much more aggressive Batman. This is just returning Batman to his Golden Age routes. Check out some of the early Detective stories - bad guys getting killed happened. If I can recall correctly, I believe that Supes tossed a couple of guys off of the roof in one of the earlier (sub #20) Action Comics I used to own.
  4. I know a couple of people that have been on that show. To say it is pre-scripted and they do the deal before they ever hit the air is not incorrect. The wheeling and dealing on the show is just entertainment.
  5. I hope so. I snagged a couple of the variants for cheap along with a few #40s when people started asking for them at shows right away.
  6. AoU was so bad that my 10 and 11 year olds asked me why they couldn't just do another movie like the first one after seeing it. I will take my kids to this one and post their reaction. FWIW, they did not want to see the Force Awakens after most of their friends that saw it said it was weak as well. They are bugging me re: Deadpool, though, since a few of their classmates saw it and said it was awesome.
  7. You have to also realize a lot of critics are going to be resentful towards this big studio film that was made instead of some art house film about a little boy chasing a balloon all over Paris. A big studio made Avengers : Age of Ultron. which Rotten Tomatoes gave a 75 percent. Batman v Superman now at 39 percent at Rotten Tomatoes! I loved Man of Steel. I hope Batman v Superman is in that style which is why the critics are giving it so so reviews. I did not know that. I just assumed AoU would have gotten a so-so rating from RT, after all it was just more of the same (slo-mo Avenger freeze-frames, Loki's glo-stick of destiny brainwashing scientists, Hulk on a rampage, thousands of easily disposable henchmen, etc). AoU scored that high on RT? That site is losing more credibility in my eyes as time goes on. AoU was a horrible movie - as I have posted before, AoU and Ant-Man are the only Marvel movies my kids have not asked to watch a second time.
  8. Looks like I have to pull out my copies and list them asap now. Rehashed Gwen, the gift that keeps on giving.......
  9. Wow. Looks like I will have to get my lowly 6.5 signed by Stan at the Calgary Expo for a SS submission instead of Avengers 1. If a 5.0 is worth $5K, then a 6.5 should be $6500? The bidding activity looks a bit suspicious.......
  10. Looks like I have to send in a new group of Copper books to CGC now.
  11. That's about market value for that book. I wouldn't bite on one now as he is flooding the market with covers swipes. The only good thing is usually they are very limited. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2055119.m570.l1313.TR12.TRC2.A0.H0.Xdead+pooh.TRS0&_nkw=dead+pooh&_sacat=0 Why would anyone pay that kind of $$$ for cover swipes from that title?
  12. + 1 There is no surprise to the excitement and purchasing of tickets in advance. Did you know ANYONE who was excited about this movie before the last trailer? Do you realize how big Fast & Furious is / was? Major trilogoy ON TOP of one of the last appearances before his death of one of the lead actors who was also well known. Furious 7 did over $1 BILLION at the box office. More than Deadpool? OK, he was not a major character live Avengers or Superman in mainstream before the movie. More than Avengers? It could be argued that the first Avengers movie was the second big leap for comic book movies. The first being Iron Man. The sequel had high expectations. Most of the non-comic collecting people I know are excited for BvS but not at all for Captain America Civil War. I have talked with comic collectors at shows the past 3 weekends and they are all saying the same thing - Deadpool surprised them and they are looking forward to the sequel, they are excited for BvS (with some buying two shows already) and subsequent DC movies, but they are starting to get tired with the Marvel movies. They all mentioned how AoU was a big disappointment as well........
  13. Why not? Batman is the biggest comic book character, then you add Superman and introduce Wonder Woman in the same flick. It should be a big opening. FWIW, I am surprised the female audience for opening weekend is so low. I expected it to be higher due to Wonder Woman.
  14. Nice set of books, Rick. I will have to see if I have any pictures of my old Adams GL, Batman and TEC hoards to post. I accumulated them in the late 90s - 2001 and was happy to unload them all in the mid 00s when Batman #227 & 232, Tec # 400, and GL #76 hit $200+ in VF.
  15. Same here. Me too. Although, I have been selling the Adlard cover for $25 for the past year. The variant covers as $6 - $10 books as well. There were a couple of LCSs that still had them out at cover up to early last year.
  16. As much as I would like to see them stick to the WD #100 storyline for the "meeting" between Negan/Lucille and Glenn, I doubt they would show that on TV. If they do, then I can see #100 spiking big time for a short while due to the shock value.
  17. Who the heck is Gregory? 1st Jesus has been a decent seller in the $40 - $50 range the past couple of years so it has some history at good prices to build from.
  18. Makes sense...in my mind the issue is not that it's harder to get a 9.8 at the moment, it's more that the standards needle is obviously moving a bit back and forth as the years pass. Now when you pick up a 9.8 you need context around the grading era to know what kind of 9.8 you actually have. Maybe CVA stickers will make a comeback I find their grading to finally be accurate again right now. The submissions I have received since December are much tighter than it was for most of 2015 (and 2014 for that matter) which was great to see. The problem right now is that due to the issues over the past two years the market has had to accept that loose grading is the norm, rather than the exception.
  19. There are too many copies of NM #98 in 9.8 for it to hit the $1000+ level right now. BA #12 in 9.8 is a book I would compare it to, and that one is priced higher to there being "only" 406 universal 9.8s vs. 1973 universal 9.8s for NM #98.
  20. I'm getting 25 of them. Bringing them to Calgary again like all of your variants last year?
  21. I wonder how watches compete nowadays against Apple's multi-functional device. If anything, this ends up as a collectible more than anything else. Old school watches have become more of a fashion and status statement than anything else. Most of the friends I have in the tech sector have their Apple watches but collect and wear Rolexes most of the time.
  22. I picked up a run in a collection last fall that has a #1 signed by Gaiman and McKean from a show that the OO went to in the late 80s or early 90s. Unfortunately, it pre-dates sig series so the signatures are a detractor. On the positive, I sent in the #8 and it is coming back as a 9.8 so I may have to submit a few of the other books as well.
