  1. Exactly. This would be so much better as an adult oriented show on Netflix or Skinemax..... Well they're teenagers allegedly...so ... yah. You could start the story with them as adults and show flashbacks to their origins as 16 and 17 year olds. If they followed the original source material, which would have been great, it would have to be adult oriented (i.e. their war against drugs, killing the scientist that created the sythetic heroin, etc.) and on Netflix, Cinemax or AMC. Personally, I think it would have fit way better with the Marvel "war on crime" slate on Netflix with Daredevil/Punisher/Elektra/and hopefully Moon Knight. That could have led to some great crossovers between shows, including a play on the arc where they work with Spider-man to stop the Punisher's assassination attempt on the Kingpin.

  3. Very nice. I had my 9.6 that was listed before the show announcement have the BIN hit at $199.99 on the weekend. Looks like I will have to up the price on the next couple of 9.6s. It is funny - I had a ton of requests for this book last year at shows with no supply. This spring I had a slabbed 9.6 and raw 9.2/9.4 copy on the wall at three shows with no interest at all.......
  4. Awesome! Marvel needs to add the Black Cat and Silver Sable to a show next from a cosplay perspective as well. For DC, I would like to see Power Girl and Phantom Lady as well...........
  5. Crud. Looks like we need this to be a Netflix series for it to stick more to the source material.
  6. It is tougher in 9.8 than many books of that vintage. I have subbed three. They were all borderline copies and they all got 9.6s. I've subbed two great copies and got a 9.6 and 9.4 for my troubles. It definitely is a tough book to get a 9.8 with. I subbed 3 copies last year that I thought would hit it but they all came back as 9.6s. Luckily, I won a NM modern lot on Heritage that had a dozen copies of PPSM #64 in it and I have four more in for grading right now with my Based on the price spike, I may have to send in the remaining 8 NM-/NMish copies now as well.
  7. Yeah ! Stan lee collectibles. Wonder why they are shipping so much in advance. Pretty stoked to get them. Love the art work. I think they are still up for order and will be available for awhile. I actually saw a set at a local toy/comic show that's open every saturday. The guy wanted a $100 bucks for the set though. That's nuts considering you can still buy them directly from Stan lee for $50 for the set. I try not to deal with sellers/Comic shops that do business like that. I see some sellers on feebay that are selling campbell exclusives for double when you can order them directly from campbell. Anything for a quick buck. That is what they are going for on eBay right now: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=x-men%2092%201%20campbell&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2045573.m1684
  8. I think it is somewhere in that range, but the amount they have up front from product placement and other merchandising is unknown. I work at a decent sized post-secondary institution (25,000+ students) and based on the uptick in Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman t-shirts I see the students wearing this year I think that Warner/DC should be doing well with their merchandising opportunities as a result of the film.
  9. Nice sale! I hope we see slow and stead increases in all grades over the next couple of years as the movies come out and the DCU expands. Slow and steady wins the race.
  10. Drew McWeeny is involved? Likely pure speculation then. I don't think anyone will know how much they spent on marketing, but if production costs were at the reported $250M then most of that would have been covered in product placement revenue before the film was released. Would they have spent another $750M on marketing? I highly doubt it.
  11. The one from Stan Lee Collectibles? I received my notice this week as well.
  12. Yes. I think some people may be surprised that the success of the first Avengers movie (not AoU) has not translated into a larger run up compared to some of the individual character 1st appearances (e.g. TOS #39 or JIM #83). As previously stated, there are just too many copies of the later Marvel #1s around. Don't get me wrong, Avengers #1 (and #4) is a book that tends to sell fast at shows, but if you are looking for price appreciation there are better Marvel SA keys for that. It is like the BA #12 vs. NM #98 value comparison. In 9.8 and lower the BA 12 price is much higher since there are fewer available copies relative to NM 98. Both Harley and Deadpool are extremely popular characters, but the overabundant supply of NM 98 curtails its value a bit.
  13. She can still use a few more cheeseburgers if you ask me She looks like she has added some muscle since this scene
  14. ppl isn't that smrt.... Marvel And Netflix Announce ‘She-Hulk’, ‘Cloak & Dagger’, ‘Bullseye’, and Elektra’ Series To Follow ‘The Defenders’! Awesome news! I knew it would not be long for Cloak & Dagger. No wonder the 9.6 I had listed on eBay popped for the BIN last night. Good thing I snagged this little auction lot a couple of months back as a spec play on Cloak & Dagger - 12 copies of PPSM #64: http://comics.ha.com/itm/modern-age-1980-present-/miscellaneous/marvel-modern-age-group-of-60-marvel-1978-86-condition-average-nm-total-60-comic-books-/a/121602-12545.s Now they just need to announce an X-Factor movie and I can pick up a low grade AF #15 or Hulk #1 flipping this lot on its own.
  15. She can still use a few more cheeseburgers if you ask me No need. The cameras add 10 pounds, right?
  16. So, the fact that I liked BvS makes me wrong? Everyone will have their own opinions and that is fine. Just disagree in a civil way and there are no problems.
  17. I read somewhere between the budget for the film and advertising, they needed to make 750 to break even. That means they spent a ton on advertising as the production budget was a reported $250 million. The production budget was likely already covered by product placement in the film (MOS received $160 million for that) so the studio will primarily be on the hook for the post production activities.
  18. The opposite is true as well. I won an old label Avengers #4 a year or so ago signed by Stan Lee during the dark days of pre-SS. It was a 4.5 that looked way better (I had other board members view it as high as a 7.0 that was nailed for the Stan Lee signature). I sent it to CBCS and received a 6.5 authenticated Stan Lee signature and made a very tidy profit. This is the one area that can work in your favor with CBCS - taking non-SS CGC books and getting the authenticated signature + a grade bump where possible.
  19. I would be okay with that. The ending is just the end of Lucille pointing at the victim who we don't see who it is till next season. Exactly. Leave the fans wanting more. That should keep interest high over the summer. Good Lord I am the man! I have not watched it yet, but it sounds like it plays out exactly as expected.
  20. This film was likely close to/at break even before opening night due to the advertising/product placement in the movie. For big movies like Avengers or Justice League the studios will take in a couple of hundred million in advertising/product placement. If MOS apparently took in over $160M from product placement (http://brandsandfilms.com/2013/11/product-placement-in-pictures-man-of-steel/) then this movie should have done more than that.
  21. That's because they will all be canned..........and justifiably so. The one positive could be that Zack Snyder is replaced for the JLA movies.
  22. I hope this is a huge success that leads to more Vertigo and other Indie adaptations. If they can adapt Lucifer for tv, and Supernatural has been successful for so long, then a Sandman or Swamp Thing adaptation could work. Mind you, 100 Bullets was optioned, right?
  23. If they want a "fun" movie, then get Flash on the big screen ASAP. Or, since I have a decent stack of the keys, do a Teen Titans movie aimed at a younger crowd. I like having both darker, more adult oriented super-hero films as well as the fun ones.
  24. I can remember worrying back in 2009 that I had overpaid for this copy on Heritage. http://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/superhero/the-brave-and-the-bold-28-justice-league-of-america-dc-1960-cgc-vg-fn-50-off-white-pages/a/110031-11097.s?ic3=ViewItem-Auction-Archive-BrowseThisAuction-120115
  25. It sounds more like Warner is responding to audience feedback, rather than just sticking to a plan without a care about the viewer. I am happy to hear that WB is responding to the feedback, what has me worried is the writers/ producers didn't have the foresight to include it in the first place. This has me more worried for the simple fact that they are attempting to dumb down the movie. My worry is they go to far and we end up with cra p like AoU or Ant-Man. It is funny that audiences and critics were fine with the dark Nolan Batman trilogy but are taking the opposite approach with BvS and this movie.
