  1. Unless you are one of those folks that just hate on DC and love everything Marvel. Then you'll be taking everyone else on a journey of unrelenting complaints..... Ignore them. Those are the same people that think AoU was a great movie.
  2. I don't know if it has been posted already, but how many copies of the WD 150 b/w one per store variants were printed?
  3. Agreed, and right now the only regular superhero title that is close to it in monthly sales is Batman. I am curious to see what the sales numbers are for the new #1s or books like DK3 without the multitude of store or other variant covers. There are a ton of variants that help pump up sales #s.
  4. They must be doing something right since the comic shop owner I talked to Wednesday said last month was his best month in over 20 years. And new books were about 90% of his sales for the month. I have not read a new book in probably a year but there must be a ton of people buying books if he can make that claim. People are still speculating on #1s so the past 2 or 3 months should have been great for stores due to the Marvel relaunch and new Star Wars spin off #1s. That being said, we should see a drop off as the titles get longer in the tooth. The same thing happened with the New 52 relaunch, although the New 52 #1s have much better back issue staying power as DC has not restarted everything within 24 months on the top titles like Marvel does.
  5. I sold all of my copies in the $30-40 range. At least I found a copy of the Hughes Harley #1 sitting in a box that I did not sell too early.....
  6. So.....this Marvel relaunch has the same staying power as Marvel Now just as expected. Don't worry, the next round of #1s is already being set up for 2018. I am curious to know what the minimum viable monthly sales are for a big two title to stay viable. Unlike the Image or other indie books, the big 2 are in it as a business not a creator's labor of love. As a result, certain sales numbers are needed or the titles aren't worth printing.
  7. What people are disagreeing with is the variation in CGC's grading standards. Exactly. If you have been submitting since the beginning you notice the swing from strict to loose and back. The key is timing your buying to strict grading and your own submissions to looser grading.
  8. Don't get me wrong, it is a nice book. The cover has great color and gloss. That being said, the bottom right corner on the B&B 28 has too many issues to be a 7.5 or even 7.0 IMHO. As a reference, here is an 8.0 SA DC I won in December on Clink that I view as being more accurately graded (note - there is a scratch in the "Detective" logo on the slab, not a printing crease/wrinkle).
  9. Last night's episode was decent again. I am PVRing the show so I can just skip the 2 mins of ads in between every 4-5 mins of the actual show.......... I did not read the books when I was younger. How does the storyline seem so far relative to the books they are derived from?
  10. Nice color on the book, but that bottom right corner will likely keep the prices tame. How it scored a 7.5 with a small color breaking crease in the top right corner and three longer ones across the bottom right does not make sense to me, but if I can get that grading team on all of my submissions I will gladly take them! It's a 7.5 because of those defects, but no one ever thinks of that! It's always "How can it be a 7.0 if it has this? How can it be a 9.0 with this? CGC doesn't grade based on eye appeal alone...as much as you all want them to. There was a time not that long ago where CGC would not have given this book a 7.5. It would have been a 6.5 at best. This is not the only instance - over the past year or so it has become apparent that as long as the creases are pressed nice and flat they are acceptable. I have noticed that with my own submissions this past year as well. With time the pendulum will swing the other way again, I guess, but until then it is definitely a case of buy the book and not the label.
  11. True enough, but at least it was a much nicer looking copy otherwise than the fugly 6.0 that sold last December. The final price for this copy was fairly strong IMHO seeing as it had the stamp and was sold on eBay during a traditionally weaker time for prices on keys. Hopefully 6.0s hit $10K later this year post BvS movie hype and that floats all lower boars as well. I would love to move my 4.5 or 5.0 in the $6-$7K range at the current exchange rates for $CDN vs $USD.
  12. I am not looking for an upgrade right now, unfortunately, but it looks like there could be another 6.0 going for a good price on eBay today. If anyone here is looking for a 6.0 they might get a deal. http://www.ebay.com/itm/141867372336?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

  14. I have not read the books, but thought it was a fun start watching the pilot last night. My kids (10 and 11) liked it so we will be adding it to the weekly family TV watch list.
  15. Let's hope they can recapture the magic of #1-6 from both to read and to make money perspectives.
  16. Rudd has been primarily a supporting role actor and trying to cast him as a the lead did not work for me. Maybe it was due to the fact that the last movie I saw him in was "This is 40" where he was a pathetic 40 year old male that is the issue. Neither one of my kids want to watch it again which is a first for them with the Marvel films. Their reaction to it is similar to the reaction they had with Green Lantern.
  17. +1 I finally got around to watching Ant-Man with my family last night. My son liked it, but not as much as the other Marvel movies, my wife and I were neutral - it is okay but could have used a better cast - and my daughter left halfway through as she was bored with it. Maybe it is just me, but I did not like Paul Rudd at all as a leading actor - he is a support actor that can't carry a lead role which is what you need for a second tier character. They needed someone more like Chris Pratt in GotG if they are casting a second tier property with a less well known actor.
  18. They should just sign up JSC as a variant cover artist for all new #1s and be done with it.
  19. Here is a recent return from Sarasota that gets me into the club.
  20. I thought that the Thanos CGI was a bit weak as well. Ronan looked cooler in GoTG IMHO. That being said, this movie looks like it will be a fun action flick. It will hopefully do well at the box office so Fox expands the X-universe further on the big screen and TV.
  21. If it is one variant per issue #50 from the best selling titles it could be okay. However, if it is 4 or 5 per every title it will likely backfire at the higher price point IMHO as there will be too many weak sellers getting them.
  22. It is the new #1 every 12 months effect that is propping up the Marvel #s. Look at how many different variants there are of every new #1 - that is what is driving the numbers for the Marvel #1s and DK3 #1. The same thing happened with the New 52 relaunch.
  23. It is receiving much better positive buzz re: the quality of the covers and the chance for the random original sketch than other variants they have done. I don't see the same level of interest for the January coloring book covers, and the past few they have done (2015 lenticulars, Flash month, GL month, Other month, etc.) have been at best.
  24. The reason this worked well for DC is the line-up of artists and popularity of the character. If they do it en masse for all of their other characters it will be overkill. However, doing one for Batman down the road, Wonder Woman, Superman, etc. every quarter or so should be okay as long as DC ensures that they have A list artists doing the cover variants.
  25. I have had multiple dealings with Randall now and it is a pleasure to deal with him. Thanks again for another smooth purchase.
