  1. Sounds like there will be some wicked speculation opportunities with DC SA and BA books for the near future.
  2. I think most of us made money throwing that mess on the internet, not the other way around. Exactly. It was easy money that could be turned into older keys or more moderns to flip for a profit. I still have two or three 1st print sets sitting in a long box someplace, those were paid for a long time ago. FWIW, it is probably worthwhile holding onto a couple of spare #1s just in case the series is relaunched. It worked well with buying pre-unity, incentive and late run Valiants in the late 90s after the implosion and will likely hold true for popular Image titles as well long term.
  3. Check out the prices on the Image Firsts copies as well. Not bad for a $1 book that is still on the shelves at LCSs. Mind you, the most recent printing of Image Firsts #1 sells for up to $10 at shows here even though they are still in most of the LCSs.......
  4. It is sitting at $2390 with the BP as of tonight....... Final hammer with BP was $2868. Not quite $3000, but not too bad either.
  5. Saw the movie with my son last weekend. We both loved it. As much as I missed the White Queen, I liked this movie better than First Class. The Sentinels were one of my favorite villains due to the original Days of Future Past storyline. It was great to see them on the big screen finally, and it was a bit sad to see some of my favorite characters as a kid being killed off by them. Poor Colossus just does not get any respect.........
  6. It is sitting at $2390 with the BP as of tonight.......
  7. It's not like these are extremely undervalued books, though. Except, of course, in the Annual Big Book of Unrealistic Values. Don't forget X-Men: The Search for Cyclops 1-4, which deals with the aftermath of Apocalypse's machinations. These books used to sell for good coin online a few years back, the Wolverine issues especially. I cleaned out all of the copies I could find at LCSs, and still buy them now for cheap when I can find them.
  8. Without speculators, most copper books would be struggling to break the $5....
  9. The lines around the mask that are the cut lines went over the ears, not around them. Really silly and costly reason to recall, IMO. There was no recall. They just asked retailers to destroy the bad issues. And most of these issue will not get destroyed. I have heard some people say their retailer would not sell it to them. Only because they can get more for them on eBay! I picked one up at a LCS last night for cover on the week old rack. Hopefully I can stil get $10 for it.
  10. These came in a couple of weeks ago, but I have not picked up any new Silver for a long time (since last summer) so I figured I would post them. Both are courtesy of board members.
  11. How much are 4.0s going for at shows in the USA this year? $3K?
  12. How high will this copy go? http://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/superhero/the-brave-and-the-bold-28-justice-league-of-america-dc-1960-cgc-vg-40-cream-to-off-white-pages/a/121424-13153.s
  13. Fixed it for you. Think of it like getting a few free IQ points. Wrong. If people were investing their money in comics intelligently, they'd be buying blue chip "stocks", irrelevant of age or grade or pedigree concerns. Maybe you're wrong FD, Buying stocks isn't for everyone and you're taking a bigger risk, the only way to make money with stocks is to sell them, you have to turn the stock into money otherwise you're only "rich on paper" Ummm......I believe the reference to blue chip "stocks" was key comics based on the "irrelevant of age or grade or pedigree concerns". I agree with that - buy the keys and you will be fine.
  14. +1 re: #138 up that reprint AF #15 then ASM #1 onwards. They also come in CDN price variants if I recall correctly. If I can find them this weekend I will post them.
  15. The Scalped #43 situation is a great example of how boardies can move markets.
  16. A little over cover if you look .. Not much at all Thanks, that's good to hear (thumbs u After a nice spike late may it looks like they are settling into the $10 - $15 range now. Interesting to see how cheap the Veronica Pepoy cover is relative to the Betty variant. I take it fanboys prefer blondes?
  17. Paying GPA or slightly over works fine on bigger SA and even BA keys. Paying GPA or slightly over on flash in the pan "hot" BA and more recent keys does not. BTW, I am beginning to really appreciate the CGC barcode "date of grading" function on the website right now as their grading has really loosened over the past few months.
  18. Thanks, but that is my current highest graded copy so I will hold onto it until/unless I can luck out on an upgrade someplace.
  19. A nice 4.5 just closed on ComicLink at $3100+. I was actually really surprised of how low that went for. Inferior looking 4.5's have sold for 3500+ recently, and that was before confirmation of the movie release date. -J. +1 I was surprised it did not go higher as well. I put in a max bid of $3200 at the end thinking it would go well over that and my bid held. The only problem now is I have to move something else to pay for it now.
  20. The silver cover on ASM #361 2nd looks better than the 1st print IMHO.
  21. The point was that it's bad for business to raise the price of a comic based on one inquiry being seen as an increase in demand. That is bad business. My question is how doe we know that the dealer has only had one person ask for the books? I find it rare that only one person asks for a specific book when I am selling at shows. If they do, it is usually for an obscure/low demand independent book. If I have it with me by some chance, I sell it. If not, then when I check at home to dig it out I will inevitably look at the pricing on eBay and GPA just to make sure I am not missing something. Sometimes I have to price it up, and the buyers tend to pay the asking price regardless at the next show. Also, in RMA's Whitman 3-pack case, the more someone requests a book the more likely I am to double check the pricing on it.
  22. For Flash, some of the early issues introducing the different Rogues should see a bump. They are fairly pricey already, but if you look at the healthy gains that the SA Batvillain 1sts (SA or overall appearance) have made in the past year then the Flash villains will likely pop as well.
  23. I thought that the 1st appearance of the Huntress was DC Super-Stars #17 or something like that?
