  1. I just had another great transaction with Cal. Fast payment and good communication. Thanks!
  2. I have sold a couple of NMs for $35 at local shows the past year. People are starting to treat Black Cat like Harley Quinn from the looks of things. Some of the other early Black Cat covers and appearances have started moving well over the same tie period.
  3. Wow. This was a steal of a deal for a 7.5 when I was out of town. Did anyone here nab it? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brave-and-the-Bold-28-CGC-7-5-1st-app-Justice-League-/301248760729?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item4623d34b99
  4. I don't understand why everyone is so surprised. Marvel does more faithful interpretations. Not DC. Never DC. Captain America and Falcon looked like they were lifted right off the comic pages in the last Captain America movie.
  5. Here is an updated group shot with three new books that were waiting for my when I got back home after a week and a bit out of town. Looks like I did not really need to buy the higher grade copies of Batman #155 and #171 after all
  6. If I have time later I will take some picks of a recent Craig's List buy of BA and CA books.
  7. Garage Sale #2: 14 books for $20 Solid but nothing spectacular. I felt compelled to buy something since I spent the time going through the 4 long boxes of mostly Copper books. The owner wanted $300 for them all so I passed. The GLs, New Teen Titans and Blue Beetle #1s are Canadian Newsstand variants.
  8. I hit a couple of garage sales while running errands this morning and found the following: Garage Sale #1 - 60 NM- or better books for $100. He needed to sell the Battle Chasers run 15 years or more ago.....
  9. Be careful. I had that happen with a collector friend two years ago, posted about it here, and had a lot of boardies slam him for not paying FMV even though the owner was likely going to toss the stacks of books in the garage out (they did not even bother to pull them out for the sale). He ended up with a 3.5 - 4.0 copy for $7.50 (he bought 3 westerns + AF #15 for $30).
  10. Seriously? She looks fine in comparison to the WW in comics today and will be fine in that role based on appearance. Whether she is able to act will not be known until it is released.
  11. It depends on where you look. At the LCSs in town, it is primarily direct except when they land a collection as those tend to hold a lot of newsstand copies of Marvels and DCs. A great source in the past for newsstand variants was a small time seller that left town a few years ago (Ron from Leading Comics). He landed a huge hoard of books from a collector/hoarder and was selling them at $0.50 or $1.00 apiece. There were multiples of almost every Marvel and DC as newsstand variants in the mix. I only cherry picked the CA keys or #1s that were CDN newsstand copies, but I can recall seeing multiples of Thor #370 and that FF issue Donut posted earlier that are tougher to find. Back then I was not aware of their relative scarcity and missed out.
  12. Not for those of us that grew up in the sticks and collected books. The direct editions were the variants for us. That being said, the two Bronze & Copper Thor runs I landed last year both had newsstand copies of #337, #344, and #370, plus almost all of the others. These were collections from Edmonton and Calgary but the collectors still picked up the books from their local 7-11 or other drug store rather than LCSs. (thumbs u
  13. Thor #370 is not too tough to find even in high grade. I have bought and sold a number of HG copies over the years along with the rest of Thor runs in...........dollar boxes.
  14. No buzz ... Lots of copies in the room What are the prices like? At recent market or at some of the gouge levels we see on eBay and elsewhere online?
  15. Ah, well I respect that, if you don't like it don't support. I feel differently, I like both books, but feel Nowhere Men is much superior on almost every level.... other than reliability  +1 Manifest Destiny is overrated IMHO. I never got into it. That being said, NWM #5 and #6 seemed rushed to me. The first three issues set things up great but it seemed like they tried to tie up too much at the end of the first arc.
  16. I am still finding Figment #1 and #2 here at LCSs as well. I am going to be putting a few up on eBay shortly. (thumbs u
  17. Thanks to Comicana Nick, I am now only missing one Silver Age Batvillain 1st Appearance in nice shape. Unfortunately, the Batman #121 in 9.0 is out of reach for now.....
  18. Very cool. The brief images of the wytches look like one of the creatures from the lead in of American Horror Story: Coven.
  19. I liked it better than TWD #1 as well. That being said, I can remember seeing TWD on the shelf at my LCS, flipping through a copy, and thinking that it was not that great and would be lucky to last a year. As far as Outcast #s, I see #2 in the 60,000 - 65,000 range since Kirkman is a known commodity and LCSs will likely only order 20% or so less. I can see #3 and then #4 dropping further into the 40,000 - 45,000 range and stabilizing before slowly rising again.
  20. It will be interesting to see how big the drop off is with Outcast #2........
  21. Wow. Check out the action on this lot: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Firestorm-1-3-Mar-1978-DC-5-Copies-of-Issue-1-Excellent-Condition/291184937285?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D23930%26meid%3D8241130064063363594%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D10200%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D121380239933#ht_112wt_1218
  22. Great news! I believe the 1st appearance is the late 1970s Firestorm #1.
  23. Yes, as someone pointed out it's a very high bid for the winner either way. Could be an attempt to sway the market, but one bid won't do that. I only found it trying to sell one of my own trying to see what they were currently selling for. The (1) feedback multi-bidder is an obvious shill; the other bidder is a fool. "Sway the market"? You guys watch too much TV. Fortunes are not made on X-Factor 24s. What if you had 1,000 of them? You do not even need that many - a stack of 20 or so would be fine to play the game with. All the seller has to do is fraudulently move a few copies at uber high prices and the rest of the market would follow. Look at Jimmy and his Scalped #43 sale to see how easy it is to make the sheeple jump on things.
  24. I think it's depressed, but will defer to someone else. I've picked up a #1 2nd for $10 recently. I don't know, I think first print Bone issues are something that collectors will still get giddy over. I saw a bad copy (5.0ish) at Special Edition NY that was sold for $500 and the buyer was giddy about getting. Another dealer had a graded 5.5 on display and he said it was display on (he would never part with that, he said, just because it took him so long to find a copy). It just seemed like people were pouncing on Bone issues at the con. I am going to get my copy graded and see what happens. It was one of the modern gems from a collection I snagged last year that the owner bought on a whim. Unfortunately, there is also a lot of drek from Eclipse and other indie publishers that he purchased as well.
