This happened to me about a month or so ago.  One of the slabs I sent in for consignment was sent back to CGC for recasing.  There was no charge.  I could have called Este to find out if it arrived damaged but as long as it came back with the same grade (which it did) I didn't feel the need to bother her.   But if you really want to know, you can always call Este and either she or someone on her team would probably be happy to tell you.

Your recasing only took one month? MCS sent a slab I consigned for recasing last September and it still hasn't returned from CGC. :tonofbricks:

  2. I think the market also helps identify minor keys. Using your ASM example, #37 and #38 are far more affordable in the same grade (say CGC 8.0) than #39. So, in my opinion, that shows collectors consider that issue a key and will pay more for it. Scarcity in grade can also be a factor, so I wouldn't use too high a grade for comparison if using this methodology.

Why does the CGC case have so much space on each side? Is the comic smaller than normal or did they slab it in a magazine-sized holder? (shrug)

As the comics that introduced me to collecting as a 7 year old, Harvey comics from 1975 are the gems of my collection. Many of the issues had zero file copies and are very rare in high grade. I even have a WTB thread for them! Drek? Never! :sumo:

Here are session 1 results from ComicLink March Focused auction.   This will be the only recap from this auction for me.   I think the auction is mislabeled - any auction that goes on for 3 weeks with hundreds of pages of listings is not very focused.

It should also be noted that the CGC 9.0 Fantastic Four #49 (-19%) was the Suscha News pedigree copy, which would have been expected to command a premium over non-pedigree copies...
