  1. Sad news. My condolences to all who knew and loved him. RIP Bird.
  2. I would guess it is more of a trade secret than top secret. There are many here who do this (cleaning/pressing comics) as a profession, not a hobby.
  3. Happy Thanksgiving from Canada! I will be sharing in your tradition today by eating a turkey sandwich at work and watching the NFL scores on my desktop!
  4. With the right inker, Kirby's 1960s stuff was great. Not a fan of his 1970s work though.
  5. Based solely on what I have read on these boards, I believe Hero still imagines - rightly or wrongly - that he will at some point be able to finish all of the promised work and salvage his reputation (and not have to repay any of his customers). I think if he wanted to return the comics to his customers, as repeatedly requested, he would have already done so. I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but I think on the off chance you are able to establish contact with him he is going to tell you to go yourself.
  6. I might be completely off base, but what makes you think Hero Restoration wants to return these comics?
  7. And if you want them to appear in this thread you have to summon them like this (not sure if the old forum had this option): @shiverbones @Rip @greggy
  8. I know how hard it can be to find some of these books in high grade, including the ones you mentioned. I had a few HOM 205 in 8.5 - 9.0 and sold them thinking a better copy would come along... And, yes, we want ALL of your undercopies!
  9. Did you sell part of your horror collection? The market is nowhere near as crazy high as it was during Covid but I don't think high-grade DC Bronze Age horror has softened at all.
  10. CGC is in the pressing and resto removal business now, I am sure a micro trimming service will also be offered soon...
  11. This forum is nowhere near as busy as when you haunted it. But Shiverbones is still a regular, I believe.
  12. Well, you know what they say - When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back!
  13. Are you here to show us all the sweet DC Bronze Horror upgrades you've picked up in your absence? And to let us know about those undercopies you have for sale?
  14. Would this be a criminal case? Or would the individuals have to go after Hero in small claims court for services paid for but not rendered? Even if you got a judgment there, wouldn't you still have to fight for your property/money via a sheriff, or a lien or something? In my experience with a similar situation (a Canadian small business that was ripped off by a contractor) the judgment was the easiest part. And though we won (the defendant skipped the trial), we never received a penny, just more aggravation.
  15. Recent pickup from the CGC Boards! One of the best covers of the Silver Age IMO.
  16. The spine also looks like it's been crushed by a press. I prefer my squarebounds square, like the 9.0 above.
  17. If you want to sell for a fixed price and are worried about scams (and don't want to sell it on the CGC boards) I would consign the comic with one of the earlier mentioned consignors. If you want to auction the comic then both Heritage and Comiclink are options, but be ready to accept the risk that with current market conditions that comic could easily sell for less than GPA. The final decision is really going to depend on how desperate you are to sell this comic. Good things come to those who wait.
  18. Do they still make comics for kids? I grew up on a steady diet of Harvey and Gold Key comics but both publishers are, sadly, long gone. In at least one comic store's defense, however, I should mention that I visited a LCS yesterday and when I asked if they had anything my 4 year old daughter would like they pulled out an Amazing Spidey and Friends story/stickerbook. I bought it and the stickers have been stuck by one very happy 4 year old! And we had a new bedtime story. 🌙
