  1. I don't think any work was done and, based on the owner of the comics' post and the graders notes, one could even suspect the comics had been intentionally damaged before submission to CGC.
  2. This pup has an uncanny resemblance to a certain wookie. Please tell me his name is Chewbarka!
  3. I believe you handled this unfortunate situation in the best way - do everything it takes to get your comic back safely in your collection and then go to war with Heroes over the refund you deserve for services not rendered!
  4. There is what I can only describe as a translucent shadow the exact size of the MC paper and a presser I deal with has told me it's a known problem. To be on the safe side I follow the top grading companies' lead and no longer place MC paper between the cover and front page. But that's just my
  5. I have cracked out comics where the cover was definitely affected by the paper. There is a reason why CGC switched the position of the MC paper to the inside pages, so that it is no longer in contact with the cover, and I am always nervous about buying comics in the really old slabs for just this reason.
  6. Celebrating Canada Day with a beautiful sunny day at the beach on the Pacific side.
  7. Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canuck comic collectors! 🇨🇦
  8. Some of those older olive presses may work well for pressing comics. May want to put an extra teflon sheet down. And clean the press first.
  9. We all laughed pretty hard when the customer told us what he'd received. The shipper was pretty embarrassed and never heard the end of it.
  10. On a completely unrelated to comics note, I used to work at a hydraulics company and one of our customers ordered a custom made hose assembly for his steering system. A new shipper cut the hose into three pieces to get it to fit inside the shipping box and sent it to the customer.
  11. The insufficiently_thoughtful_person I would never trust my books with is myself. I only use @joeypost
  12. To give the customer service rep the benefit of the doubt and assume the corner did fold over as shown during shipment to CGC (which I 100% believe to be incorrect), they may want to immediately fire the presser who then pressed the comic with the corner still folded. Things used to be different with CGC. I remember when I first submitted back in 2007 or so I did not pack the comics correctly and the bundle shifted inside the parcel and banged the lower right corner of nearly every comic submitted. A customer service rep (Gemma?) immediately contacted me to let me know what had happened and warn me that the comics would most likely grade lower than I had expected. She offered me the option to proceed with grading or to have the comics returned at no extra cost (other than shipping) which I gratefully accepted.
  13. Personally, I would never trust my comics with some insufficiently_thoughtful_person in his garage who knows zero about pressing comics and is more likely to destroy them than improve them which is why I have never bought my own comic press. I also do not have a garage.
