  1. I paid under guide for all of them except GI #87. Finding that one anywhere near guide is near impossible. I have some interesting books to post tonight that I bought in Chicago - even a few non DC War books.
  2. Thanks Shep. Even though it's under the grade I'm looking for, I couldn't pass it up at the price that I bought it for. Same with the OFF #45 - great book and an even better price. I'll post some other Chicago purchases tonight including decent looking copies of 81 and 83.
  3. Did you mean to say under $25 shipped?
  4. I agree with Andy. In addition, the SA market is red hot right now and will die down in due time. Unless you're going to buy the small 3, many of the GIs and OAAWs are a little overpriced right now due to a few extra guys snapping them up. In 2 years, the market will have cooled again.
  5. I would've snagged every one of these if I had had the foresight to place bids ahead of time. I'm always concerned about shill bidding, that I usually don't do that though. Those are some EXCELLENT prices on early SSWS in high grade. It seems this title gets pretty much ignored.
  6. You too. I was surprised you didn't have gremlin flashcards with you to flash at me while we were talking.
  7. We're going to see a lot more nice War books on the marketplace in the next few years. Many dealers I know are now scouring the country looking for them.
  8. I was too busy in Chicago to bid on any in this last auction so I missed out on quite a few that I wanted. I did pick up some nice War books in Chicago including OAAW #s 81 - 83, OFF #45, GI Combat #87 and some others. I'll post the GI #87 in a few days after I get settled back in.
  9. Thanks Andy. Nice pickups yourself! I thought most of the 5.0 - 6.5s were reasonably priced as well. Anything 7.0 or higher got a major bump and if it was any of the "Big 2" - GI Combat or OAAW, then the prices started getting nutty. What surprised me the most was even the non-greytone GIs were going for big bucks.
  10. I was one of the underbidders on that one. I couldn't do more than 1.5x the amount it sold for two years ago. Good pickup though, such an awesome book. Thanks! Did you pick any nice War books in the auction(s)?
  11. I was the underbidder on all 3 of those. I didn't bid too strong on these because I wanted to have some $$$ left for the OAAWs. It's hard to say because these are the only certified copies in many cases. If you compare them to other surrounding issues, many times the heritage books are selling for 2-3X the high GPA prices. It actually seems the better deals are in the VF to VF+ copies. The F/VF copies sell for the same price many times.
  12. What did you pick up Andy? These were my 2 favorite pickups in the auction: OFF #20 OFF #35
  13. To be honest, a lot of the reason for that is that the books are worth more to the owner than what they can sell them for. This auction may change that perception and many nice War books will be popping out of the woodwork imho.
  14. I think I picked up around 35 books. There was a lot of competition for the OAAWs. I wonder who my competition was? I passed on these: OAAW #47 CGC 7.0 - at around 6X grade guide OAAW #50 CGC 7.0 - at around 6X grade guide
  15. I was a strong bidder in this auction and picked up some nice books. But I was blown out of the water by some of the prices achieved. We will NEVER see these types of numbers again on some of these books. It was like a feeding frenzy in the live bidding. G.I. Combat #68 for $2,600 with the juice? in VF- There's got to be some better copies out there of this book. I did pick up some decent deals, by my estimation at least. I picked up this book for $300 with the juice. OAAW #102
  16. Major kudos to October for some beautiful Our Army at War Mass. pedigree copies.
  17. Andy pulled out the OAAW #173 among others. I'm still about that one. I don't have a clue which movie...
  18. That's a spittin image, Shep! Agreed. That's on my hit list now as well.
