  1. This was Mick's undercopy. Awesome! I want an overcopy so later I can have an undercopy. What did you have to trade? Great haul for you today. Mike Now I have to pay for them. I traded a 8.5 OAAW #76 (my undercopy) + a good amount of cash for his OAAW #88 and a nice OAAW 62. I think we both ended up happy.
  2. Do you add e-mails used in the registration process to your mailing list? Jim I'm not sure. Then again, I've never registered for my own site. I know that once you do register, in the email preferences, you can say "no" to the mailing list. I'm just not 100% sure about the registration part. I'd have to talk to my web designer or one of my customers.
  3. No one is "forcing" anyone to do anything, and if it's worth it to you to go to Brent's site to buy the book, you will, otherwise, you won't. Now, I'm not complaining because it's great his books are being offered here first and I've been dealing with him since the pre-CGC days, but, for example, Nick is only accepting Paypal payment from US collectors, which requires you to go to another site to complete the transaction. I'd guess the vast majority of forum deals are done this way. To me, it's not really about obliging to the letter of the law with the guidelines (very few for sale posts lay out all the payment and shipping details required in the guidelines anyway), it's about complying with the spirit of the guidelines to make this board the best place on the 'net to buy comics - best selection, best prices, best service. The fly-by-nighters have caused a lot more problems lately while in full compliance with the "guidelines" have than long-time, well-established forum members (Russ/Mark/Jeff/Brent/etc.,.) ever have. I agree to a certain extent. This Forum was set up for collector to collector transactions...not "come to my website to buy" type transactions. And that's what's happening with Brent. If I wanted to go to his website I would (and have)...but I come here to buy from other Forumites who have no other avenue, outside of eBay, to offer their wares. Playing fast and loose with the rules will quickly drown out those collectors...and that's happening to a certain extent already with some collectors selling on the Forum almost full time and probably doing better business than some of the moderate Internet dealers. But at least they're doing it on the Forum and not somehow linking back to a dedicated selling websites... Going to Paypal to pay isn't what we're talking about here and isn't applicable to the discussion. Brent could have very easily done the same thing and I wouldn't have a problem but instead a person must "register" on his site and provide valuable personal information such as e-mail address to complete transactions. That's not a Forum-dedicated sale in my opinion... Jim I can download email addresses, addresses and all other transaction information into an excel format from my paypal payments as can any seller who accepts paypal. This is not private info Jim, as much as you'd like it to be. And I don't hold any info except for the info that paypal already would provide me. My merchant handles all of the transactional stuff and you can pay via paypal as well. It's just easier for shipping/tracking purposes (and for me accounting).
  4. Just acquired: OAAW #90 and #102 both in FN as placeholders until I find better copies. The price was right.
  5. Good luck to you Shep. I'm sure with your packing methods, everything will come thru to your new place in tip top shape.
  6. going off tangent here for a second, if you're stuck in GPA land, then you might be missing out on a lot of nice books, or overpaying for some by offering GPA average. Not all copies are made the same even if the grade is the same. GPA is ok for balllparking books, but it seems like you're buying the label and not the book when you're offering $$$ based solely on GPA average.
  7. Until a few days ago , the nicest copy I had ever seen was the CGC 8.5 CR-OW that sold on ebay within the past few months. You talkin' about this copy?
  8. This copy of WF #94 is part of a nice DC collection I recently purchased. Very pretty looking copy and certainly one of the best two I have ever seen, the other being my own copy. Scans are so hard to grade from - I would be interested to know what you think this beauty grades at. Better yet...how much and what else did you get? About 400+ DC books from 1953 - 1959. The ones from late 56' thru 59' are higher grade meaning FN or better. Some are in the VF or better range. The WF 94 appears better than the actual grade. If not for the tear on the back cover, I would grade it at least 6.5. With the tear, it's probably a 4.5/5.0. Most from this collection have nice pages as well. The collection has Batman, Detective, Action, Adventure, World's Finest, Jimmy Olsen, a few JLA, Mystery In Space (pre-Adam Strange), New Adventures of Charlie Chan, Showcase, Strange Adventures, Superboy and Superman.
  9. Next highest graded in census is 5.5 then a 1.0, 3 graded in total thus far. So, saying it's scarce in high grade is an understatement. That book is a freak of nature!
  10. This copy of WF #94 is part of a nice DC collection I recently purchased.
  11. Wow! Great cover! I'm assuming since it's from 52' and a key, that's it's a very tough book to find in 8.0 or better.
  12. I haven't read them yet. Any idea which one(s) I should read first? I can't decide which cover I like best the #59 or #60.
  13. Thanks Fay! I haven't decided yet. I will probably list some of the lesser grade books on my site. None of them are VF although a lot of them have VF appeal. These came out of a 1950s DC collection recently purchased. Funny too, because many of the Actions, Adventures, Batmans and Detectives in the collection from that time period were VF or better. The Army at Wars were sub par by comparison, only averaging FN or so.
