  1. Anything over 12700 posts should be about right. hey, did you get my PM, I forgot which books I bought from your site PM sent
  2. Who cares who frequents it? If I put up a WTB post, I couldn't care less who fills it. Lowest price wins. If a zilliion dealers respond to a WTB post, the price will come down. I tend to agree with this. Why does it matter who responds? Will forum members be LESS likely to respond simply because dealers are responding also? I think Buckeye's point was that "true" forum members will frequent that forum less and it will become a dealer centric selling forum. I disagree to some extent. 1) The line between dealer and collector is blurred 2) many forum members are always looking to unload what they have, sell their doubles etc, or just help out fellow forum members 3) if the prices being offered are too high, then the forumites won't buy. Most buyers here on the boards are extremely savvy about what to pay for the books they are looking for, and let me tell you, it's not high retail, for the most part.
  3. That's a good point and that's also a question I can't answer since I'm more of the dealer type and would, of course, frequent that forum. I'll defer on this one.
  4. NO I would expand on your reasons for wanting to keep it as one forum if you'd like your thoughts to get serious consideration. Thanks, Arch ok Arch, I saw someone post "yes" and I thought you were just asking for a raising of the hands so to speak. Basically I'm an advocate for status quo in this case. In my opinion most WTB are not long standing requests and they usually get filled within a day or two. The people who have your book for sale respond very very quickly in my experience so there really isn't a need for bumping it. The long standing wish lists Mutant Keys mention are better off being placed in your signature line for everyone to see whenever you post. Don't create yet another forum that will get very little traffic like the Ebay/dealer section. I hardly ever visit that area. Just my $0.02 I know that the forum would get significant traffic. To relate it to ebay/dealer section is like apples and oranges as the WTB section is forum specific and the ebay/dealer section is not. Many WTB posts are never ending like Bronty's and he just keeps bumping his Barks requests. My WTB post I would love to bump every so often, but I don't want to clog the main page up.
  5. Yup, or they want to be catered to. Sometimes dealers can be a pain in the to deal with. On the boards, you may get multiple offers from boarders that have the same book in the same grade depending on scarcity. Then you just sit back, look at scans, prices etc and pick which one you want.
  6. I would assume so I would think if a dealer had the book(s) listed in the WTB thread, he could state so, give a scan, condition, price....that would be fine. What I would not want to see is a dealer continuously posting his link in every WTB thread. However, in reality, whoever has posted the WTB thread has probably already checked the main dealers websites and either they do not have the book in question or they do not have it in the desired condition/price. Not exactly true. My inventory turns over very fast. I may have just gotten in that day certain books that boarders are looking for. So it's not even up on my site yet. It's sad for me to say that sometimes it takes 2 weeks + to get books entered into the system with grades, prices and scans.
  7. Yes. Yes, and there would be more if it had it's own forum I think.
  8. I'd like to second the motion for separating WTB amd FS threads into different forums. Some FS threads are getting knocked to page 2 in less than a day. I third the motion.
  9. I just got 10 NM/MT copies in a collection I just bought. Guess one of them will be turning into a 9.4 now because I'm going to read a copy.
  10. You hear that Mr. Anderson?... That is the sound of inevitability... It is the sound of your death... Goodbye, Mr. Anderson...
  11. Dave, I have no dog in this fight so to speak. However, I'd like to point out something about the All-American #16. Although Steve's asking price may be outrageous, it is better than a VG. I graded it a solid 5.5 when I last viewed the book. 5.0 would be the strictest you could ever grade that copy. The subscription crease is very light and not noticeable unless held up to the light at an angle. I have also heard about other negative transactions that some have had with you regarding books that were obviously restored and not disclosed. I don't know of you except from hearing about these transactions and the incredible collection that you've amassed over the years. And I have no idea if that information is accurate since I have no first hand dealings with you. I hope it's NOT true as it's just another bad mark on the hobby. Brent Moeshlin Quality Comix
  12. No, I knew exactly what you meant, I only wanted things clear for possible rules inclusion. For example, something like this (no scans): Amazing Spider-man 128 VF - $30 Amazing Spider-man 129 VF - $30 Amazing Spider-man 131 VF - $30 Amazing Spider-man 132 VF - $30 Amazing Spider-man 134 VF - $30 Would still be allowed in a single post. So basically, the proposed rule would be "One large scan per post, multiple thumbnails and URLs allowed". That's a great idea Donut. Let's just make sure we don't make so many rules that newbie forumites wanting to sell some comics don't get intimidated by all the rules!!
  13. Your "holier than thou", after the fact rhetoric is quite transparent. You forget that the rules were in place. Then they were broken. The rules have been amended. This doesn't change the transgressions which occured before the rule change . . . just your feather-puffing. Sigh. I "violated" the rules once in the three years I have been on these boards. Bring on the gallows! How about dealing with the present now and not the past. You hate dealers. You want all your competition out of the way. We all know it. Whatever. Actually, I wasn't refering to your thread at all, just your present stance on the subject. My initial concerns about this whole issue was over Brent's dumping thread. Then all hell broke loose. I don't hate dealers. I've never said that. I don't view dealers as "competition". I don't know where you get your ideas from. Is that Frank Zappa as your avatar? He had some pretty wacky ideas...
  14. Earliest double cover I know of is the More Fun Comics #46 (August 1939) I sold a few years back. West This one's got it beat by a couple of issues. A Mile High More Fun #42 CGC 9.2/9.6. WOW! http://www.comiccollectors.net/bookdetail.php?issue_id=2569
  15. Thanks gman, for your prompt payment and smooth transaction!
