  1. Finally scored a copy on Facebook of all places.
  2. Right? Disparaging NOW as the era of the cover (and somehow conflating CGC with that, too) doesn't make much sense. Even the designation of "Classic cover" predates CGC. The cover of a comic book is a massive draw and has been since the beginning of the medium. CGC didn't do it. We did.
  3. About 8 of the last 15 I got back have puddling. It's not fixed.
  4. Thanks, V! I found that site a few months ago after making my own list the hard way . Trying to resist the urge to go all the way to the end. Luckily, there are some books on that list that I'd never pay the FMV for so it sort of solves that problem (Looking at you Batman 608 RRP).
  5. That is just mind boggling. How can they possibly be THAT far behind yet can get a slow modern book back in 3 months?
  6. I landed on a really narrow focus - buying whatever books were in the Wizard Top 10 from issue 1-75. Most of those are dollar bin books so it's made digging for the PC fun again. Reading wise, Read the Aaron God of Thunder run a few months ago and going through Moore's Swamp Thing. I never read past #26 at first. Edit: Another thing that I'm actively collecting that is tangentially related to comics is going after early issues of magazines that I either read as a kid or that I share a cross-interest in. I skated as a kid so I'm trying to get the 1st issue of Thrasher (geez, that's expensive). Already landed the 1st of Transworld. Also Nintendo Power, some early keys from Mad!, Wizard, Sports Illustrated, The Source, etc.
  7. My views were down about 25-30% last week until I finally sucked it up and started listing at least 10 new items a day. I'm still down but now only about 1%. Sales are down about 1% from last month.
  8. It's such a great cover. That sucks, Dr. B.
  9. I'm in FL so even the thought of that makes me sweat (and my books mold). When I lived in L.A., I never understood how so many places wouldn't have AC. The summers there are brutal!
  10. Think they were definitely his. He had a bunch of toys and other stuff like that all in similar beat but complete condition. From late 80s, mainly. He was also the right age for it and was able to talk with enough familiarity that it made sense they were his. could be wrong, though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  11. But seriously. The VASTTTTT (and I mean VAST!) majority of comics are not and will never be slabbed. The VAST majority of comic readers/collectors also don't slab their books. We are a small minority of the collector base. It's gotten bigger since covid, for sure. But this gate-keeper/boomer idea of "Slabbing is ruining comics!" has been around since CGC started. I kinda get the idea that people who think that CGC has ruined collecting never really liked collecting to begin with. Readership is down. No getting around that. But a graded book has absolutely nothing to do with that.
  12. Oh weird. I forgot that all the comics that come out on Wednesday are slabbed and you have to crack them to read.
  13. Hijacking the thread and asking a VERY stupid question: What are the deal with Pops? I mean, I sort of get it from a collector's point of view but I also totally don't get it and they irrationally annoy me. 69% of that annoyance might be the people who would line up at the Hollywood Funko store and I wouldn't be able to find parking.
  14. I guess I should ask this: How do you even value the Spawn 133? I'm not seeing a sale in this grade, ever.
  15. Yesterday was a WILD adventure in looking at collections in the south. 1st was way out in the literal middle of no where. The town only had a church and 2 houses that flanked it. I didn't see another house for 30 minutes before the one the books were at. Ended up being a kid selling his brother's comics. He wanted way too much for everything so I did the @shadroch method and told him I'd take 50 books at the price I would be willing to buy all of them. He let me take the 50 and I don't have to deal with 5 long boxes of the most unsellable junk. Nothing super exciting but enough to justify the trip. The 2nd was one of the more messed up I've ever experienced. Responded to an OfferUp ad at 9:30 PM where he had UXM266, NM87 and late 80s/early 90s keys pictured. Dude answers the door and his place is WRECKED. He tells me it's because his crazy ex broke into his house and smashed all his stuff so he had to "fortify" the doors and windows so she doesn't come back. He's talking a mile a minute about kids and baby-mommas and for sure was meth'd out. I gave him the cash, we talked for a second about I don't even know what. As I'm walking out, there's a dude I hadn't seen until this point who's passed out while sort of standing, sort of leaning his face against the wall near the door - shirtless and FILTHY. The guy I bought the books from kicks him and he wakes up and starts slapping the door knob and being erratic and talking gibberish. Then I noticed the pipe, tin foil and lighter. But it was weird because I've certainly never passed out like that from freebasing so I'm guessing heroine? Maybe opium?
  16. NO idea how this got a 9.4. Had it pegged as VF+ when I sent it in. There's no way this is a 9.6. Again, had it down as VF/NM. Can't find the cover scratches at all that the notes mention and the few tics that are present are so light. Head scratcher, for sure.
  17. The econenemy of the people. I'm going to keep reaching until the books show up.
  18. I completely agree with you but my books have only been there since Feb so I'm still within the TATs. But everyone else? Sheesh. Add in the extra kick in the nuts with the disparity between slow and fast track? That's a racket and a half. Edit: I would have never submitted if I knew that TATs were going to be this long and I won't be subbing anymore Econ books until they figure this out. I'm sure I'm not alone in this.
  19. Anecdote: There's no way the last two submissions I've had were looked at by more than one person. OR "multiple moderate spine stress" is now allowed in 9.6
  20. The chargeback would be fine if they weren't holding potentially thousands of dollars in books.
