I had some weird distorted fantasy that maybe I could snag that Wonder Comics 1. Was I ever shocked the I saw the final hammer price.
I was shocked too. Traditionally, this was always a cool, scarce book but never terribly valuable unless in grade. My copy I've had for 20+ years is still in a Fortress.

Update...
I filed a claim with eBay, told the seller all things wrong with it which he insists he didn't realize. He says all the other times this year he's sold the item, the buyers never paid him. That sure is an awful lot of bad luck to have with one book. Odd that he'd have positive feedback from the buyers on at least two of those sales as well. I've heard this sort of excuse before from sellers who shill bid their item and accidently wind up selling it to themselves, but I'm always willing to give him the benefit of the doubt to someone the first time around.
I paid $306, but gave him the option to refund me $200 to keep the book, and he's willing to do so. Should I keep it? I can still demand all the money back. Part of me actually wants to hold on to it because of it's history. It does still look nice, even if it is a trimmed and touched scam comic. I can always reinforce/reattach the cover myself with some rice tape.
Who knows, maybe one day CGC will have a special "PLODD" - Purple Label of Danny Dupcak. We should petition CGC!
What do you think, guys?
FYI, here's the auction: eBay https://ebay.us/GlAIld
If you can get it for a hundred bucks (roughly) why not? It certainly makes for a great story!

One of the MOST special things about Heroes 2019 was the chance to meet the legendary pre-code artist Hy Fleishman . Fleishman did many of the creepy skeleton covers that predominated Dark Mysteries and Mysterious Adventures. At 91 years old, it's my understanding this was his 1st show ever. Such a humble and gracious man.

Great deal on an underrated Hitler cover

I'm guessing you're asking about VoH 39 since there is no Vault of Fear and Haunt of Fear only went to 28 issues.
VoH 39 isn't rare. It is tougher in grade because of its dark cover. It's one of the better covers in the run but hasn't quite broken out compared to other classic bondage covers. It's certainly due.

From your post, it would appear that you are the only boardie here who has answered my question (albeit indirectly) from the other week as to Cole's most valuable book, whether it be Mask 1, Blue Bolt 105, Suspense 8, or what have you.
Although you are probably correct in your assessment here, it would appear that you might run into some pretty stiff competition with your selection here. Especially considering that CL had auctioned off a BB 105 for something like $37,500 last summer and there are a total of only 25 graded copies of this book out there. And although there is a total of 48 universal graded copies of Suspense 8 out there, it should be pointed out that there appears to be no "high grade" copies to date as the highest graded copy is only a CGC 7.5 (either universal or restored) to this current point in time.
I can believe 7.5 is the highest graded Suspense 8. Tough to find a copy nicer than vg/fn.

Marvel Mystery 52 my father bought me when I was 16 years old out of an old record/book shop in Carrboro, NC. The coolness and complexity of that Schomburg bondage cover blew my mind and I was hooked for life on GA......
